Technically every organic process is based on chemical imbalances, but stop splitting hairs, you know what I mean.The_AC said:EVERYTHING in the brain is due to a chemical imbalance. Thinking a particular chick is hot, doing math problems, daydreaming, navigating an automobile in traffic, deciding which foods a person wants, are all due to chemical imbalances in the brain. Chemical imbalances in the brain are what cause thoughts.danpascooch said:This is the question I expected to answer the most, and don't worry, you were very polite about it.Angry Caterpillar said:Do you honestly believe this is a condition and not just people making excuses?
Honest question, not to be a dick.
Frankly, it's been shown that ADD is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, and while that's not tested for each time it's diagnosed, a proper diagnosis involves hours of testing different cognitive abilities, and tracking whether there is a significant drop in the areas effected by ADD.
It is a real thing, but nobody should ever use it as an excuse for anything I cannot stress that enough.
People with ADD lack a reasonable quantity of a significant chemical in the brain (I forget the name) that people without ADD have enough of, it's significant enough to be measurable.
