Why with all the 'girl' threads?
I'm pretty angry at the last one, seems there are fools wherever you go.
I did find it interesting how we're always referred to as 'girls' but the males are 'guys' and not boys. Nilcypher gets many awesome points for being one of very few people I've noticed to refer to us as 'ladies'.

Lady has certain connotations that no matter how you use it in slang, can't be changed. It is a term used for women of prominence and elderly women not for women in general and it is certainly not on the same level of respect as calling a man, guy. Beauty is subjective but that is no excuse to blur the lines of what is physically attractive and what is not. There would be no modelling agencies if anyone could turn up and demand to be a model because they have their own beauty, industry standards demand models of clean flawless skin, tall, thin/muscular and young. I agree that too much emphasis is placed on looks but when judging a person looks are the first sign of who that person is, call it shallow but I call it instinct.

I'm still going to disagree with you. I do not think that the connotation is still there, although it would depend on where you are from I imagine. I do refer to men as gentlemen in conversation, rather than guys anyway, so perhaps it is merely my archaic forms of expression. I thought that ladies like to be called girls, simply because they like to have their age underestimated. Be that as it may, I usually refer to the female gender as such because of the fact that girl is shorter .
On the subject though, it is the environment a person is grown up in that makes a person like video games or not. In my case (I'm freshly 18) it's been the fact that I've had a computer practically since I was born, and my parents deemed virtual games to be a good past-time for me. A good idea in my opinion. After a while I was a bit of a little gaming maniac, and it took my brothers to get me to learn how to stop once I got into a game.
Now then, I am male, but it seems like the same thing applies with ladies as well. There is the usual stigmata that girls must not be gamers, as "games are for geeks", and being a geek is not desirable. That is utterly incorrect in this day and age, as games are practically everywhere, rather than the mario day of old. It's just that girls are taught that way: IMing with their friends is more fun than shooting their brains out.
Not being unilateral here, there are many gentlemen that don't have video games to the heart. Most of them see them as a loss of time, which they practically are. So let's not be harsh on the ladies, because doing that would mean being harsh on your own gender as well as intellect.

And she has Guitar Hero, and a Wii.... and recently had to break her addiction of an MMO resource management game.
So I think most people of our generation are gamers, whether they consider themselves such or no.
And my point is further proved because I recently re-befriended an ex of mine and went to her Halloween party, and she being the girly-girl who goes to clubs and gets drunk, got into a small argument with one of her other girly-girlfriends about which was better- WoW or Everquest.
Yeah, most girl-gamers aren't playing the FPS's, but they're pretty attractive anyway.

Ah, the Internet. Intelligence, restraint, sanity, grammar, logic, and basic social skills are all optional on the Internet. And it leads to this. *sigh.*
What I find utterly amazing about the Internet is that despite being filled with crap like this it still manages to be better at identifying genuinely good (flash) games than a lot of real world critics are at identifying good (console) games (or anything, really. I can't tell you how many times I've read amazing book reviews of books that were utter crap). I find it kind of odd how on the same site where you get people posting how much they like a game because of the blood in it, they also manage to identify quality games and rate them higher than badly done, flashy, and bloody ones. It's either a very strange problem or a lot of lurkers. Eh, probably the second one.
