You get lady when you decide to be subservient to males otherwise blame the womens liberation movement.galletea said:Why with all the 'girl' threads?
I'm pretty angry at the last one, seems there are fools wherever you go.
I did find it interesting how we're always referred to as 'girls' but the males are 'guys' and not boys. Nilcypher gets many awesome points for being one of very few people I've noticed to refer to us as 'ladies'.
First of all, no, you used to get 'lady' in that context, now it is merely another term for a woman, laden with a deal more respect than 'girl'.hypothetical fact said:You get lady when you decide to be subservient to males otherwise blame the womens liberation movement.
Nintedogirl is dead wrong; no matter what flavour of beer goggles you wear, not all women are born equal and Disney calling small ugly children princess will not change this fact.
Lady has certain connotations that no matter how you use it in slang, can't be changed. It is a term used for women of prominence and elderly women not for women in general and it is certainly not on the same level of respect as calling a man, guy. Either accept equality and be called woman or I will have to demand that you call all men, gentlemen.galletea said:First of all, no, you used to get 'lady' in that context, now it is merely another term for a woman, laden with a deal more respect than 'girl'.hypothetical fact said:You get lady when you decide to be subservient to males otherwise blame the womens liberation movement.

And there is beauty in everyone. It is simply that you refuse to see it. You might call someone ugly, but not everyone else will. More importantly, perhaps people should spend less time worrying about appearances.
Why all the hate on 'Ask an overbearing dickhead' threads?Caliostro said:@ nilcypher who will definitely hang me for this: Why all the hate on overbearing dickheads?
]galletea said:Pah, these people only say such things to justify their lack of companionship. It's far easier to say "I'm single because no pretty girls like what I like" then "I'm single because I'm an overbearing dickhead"
I'm still going to disagree with you. I do not think that the connotation is still there, although it would depend on where you are from I imagine. I do refer to men as gentlemen in conversation, rather than guys anyway, so perhaps it is merely my archaic forms of expression. Perhaps some else could give an opinion on this.hypothetical fact said:snip

I agree with you. A lot of men will condescend on women in the online world. But take comfort in the fact that most of those men wouldn't even open their mouth if you were standing in front of them.MsDevin92 said:...Well thank you Internet, thank you for reminding me that I'm a mannish social reject who spends all her time drawing fairies, I chose tutors over public school so I could get away from that lonely lifestyle. ;_____;
I don't care which gender plays games or looks better, but I wish people would stop picking on the gender which, in their opinion, sucks more at games/is as ugly as sin, which always seems to be girls. Woe is me and such.
