I'll sign on with the either Victorian England crowd or directly Desmond for the third installment. I saw Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downy and I couldn't help but think, this would be perfect for AC3. But given the ending of AC2 (which sucked and was a huge cop out.) Playing Desmond seems to be the more likely of the two. I don't think it could be in Japan or China because of the ancestry. Also, each location has historical and religious significance. China and Japan practice religions that are not what the previous games have discussed. I believe the game will stay in Europe or move the the US.

I have a feeling that the first half will be a few different remaining ancestors (possibly including one in WW2) but then the rest will be Desmond.

I would have to agree that Victorian England would be an interesting setting. And if they did I could see Jack the Ripper as a templar aiming to help control the populous through fear and terror, as is their standard modus operandi. I could also see some sort of reference to Sherlock Holmes or even Watson somehow, though it might seem more than a little forced.

Ninjas, that is all.
The assassin's guild is essentially ninjas. I would have liked your comment better if you said "Chocolate Pudding" instead.

Think before you blurt out something.
I meant that I'd like to see a Feudal Japan Assassin's Creed. And no the Assassin's Guild is not essentially Ninjas. Historically Ninjas were covert mercenaries for hire, not the Ninja clan warriors that the media today portrays them as. They did espionage, sabotage, AND assassinations for pay. Usually under the employ of daimyo(territorial lord). The Assassin's Guild is there to fight Templars. Two completely different things. Maybe you should learn your history before you blurt out nonsense.
Well, I still don't want it to be in the Far East. At the most, maybe when the Westerners brought Christianity over to Japan and China, but I've personally had my full of Far East idolization. Considering the way most people think of ninjas, having Assassins and ninjas seem redundant, unless we the players fight ninjas.

How about the American Revolution? Not only will it put Glen Beck's tits in a knot, but, apparently, the Assassins lose their grip on the New World. Having the Illuminati/ Freemasons show up would be appropriate as allies or Templar incarnate (AC is turning into a better written Dan Brown story anyway). I also wouldn't mind it taking place in French-occupied Louisiana or Spanish California and Mexico (Zoro!)

I totally agree that it should be set in Victorian England, since yesterday when I posted -
[quote:JimJamJahar]I think that the next Assassin's Creed should be in Victorian England... Maybe have Jack the Ripper in there somewhere?[/quote]

Ooh, I just had a brain wave... PIRATES!!

Edit:

I want to see it take place in the Garden of Eden, thousands of years before recorded history, and play as Adam as he works with Eve and the very first Assassins to steal the Apple of Eden.
I was thinking of this when I got all of the Truth videos in Screed 2 and I think that it has potential, but how would you go about fighting the ET-sus guys?

Not pirates, Privateers! Ha! Yeah I can see Sir Francis Drake being a Templar! It could work making all the corsairs out to explore the world in search of the apple?

the only problem is that anything that even remotely tries to justify ww2 from the perspective of the axis (mussolini, yeah yeah, i know) won't necessarily do too well, financially... seeing as the majority will gravitate to the safe and familiar... (if you haven't figured it out yet, i'm basing this entire argument from yahtzee...), but you raise an incredibly good point... the only problem (and indeed, in these mildly more enlightened times, annoyance) is that if a ww2-from-italian/other-perspective game were ever produced, they'd have to take special measures to distance itself from, and most likely sever all ties to, anything even remotely nazi/ww2 germany (which will screw over historical accuracy AND generally how interesting the game is) in order to sell... though i'm sure i'm not the only one who would be interested in (not lead to paroxisms of ecstasy by) a ww2 game from the perspective of the "opposition"... it'd just be something that would be interesting too see/play/listen to their justifications... sorry if thats offensive to anyone (i only said it'd be interesting...)

(ps... the most profound apologies if there are any phrases or parts of that statement that appear not to make sense... i've had a few drinks (whhooooo!) so that i can actually sleep (booooo!), so if there are any major errors i'll clarify in the morning (*shrieks*)
Unless we, for some reason, play as a Templar that won't be a problem. In the game universe, both the Axis and the Allies (or at least the USA) were controlled by the Templars so we could end up fighting both sides at one point or another like in AC1.

French Revolution would be good. During the War of the Roses between England and France but that would have the story backsliding historically speaking since that took place between 1455 to 1485. I'd like to see something in England prior to the American Revolution.

Medieval England would be nice or around the time the British Empire was dominating.

Ancient China i think would be pretty epic as well, but then that's going really far back in time, but hey, the animus can take you anywhere i guess.

If not them, then somewhere where very few games have been made in that era say, spain at some point. If Assassins creed wanted to go for it, they could do the spanish civil war, but i'm not quite sure how that would work out.

I think the game just wouldn't feel right if we weren't in a Mediterranean setting. The best move for next game would be Hapsburg Spain, probably the resistance against Napoleon. Spain has a ton of religious architecture, both Christian and Muslim, and a surprisingly high urban concentration. It would fit like a glove for AC3.

1950's Berlin.

That way you can have the shadow war between Assassins and Crusaders set to the backdrop of the shadow war between capitalism and communism.

this may have been said already [too lazy to check for test ninjas] but victoria era england. i would LOVE to see jack the ripper introduced as one of your mentors. he was rather handy with a blade aye? so why not have the master butcher teach you a few nasty slicey techniques.

i think the inclusion of that gauntlet pistol would be nice as well given that firearms were more common than throwing knives around this time, but i dont want to see muskets or rifles introduced. [ruins the whole "im an assassin" feeling if your toteing two rifles and a shotgun about]

lastly, and this may be a bit of an odd request* i would liek to see a mechanic where if you hang around outside, or underneath a window for too long, you get spattered with a bucket of waste. since many people did just that around this time, it would be quite humerous to see [enter heros name here] get soaked down with a bucket of filth, and then dance about in disgust for a few seconds.

Maybe Desmond could help the French finally win a war...

Although, I'm up for Egypt. Or hell, maybe medieval Europe.

Honestly? I hope they pick a time period no one is expecting. One of my favorite parts about Assassin's Creed 1 was that it taught me a shitload about the Crusades, a time period I barely knew anything about at the time. It made the Crusades interesting for me, and I really appreciated it for that. Creed 2 also did this to a lesser extent with the Renaissance.
I'm pretty sure that the Animus will only take up part of the game however. Sooner or later, Desmond and Lucy are gonna need to kick some serious ass.
