Might I suggest that you embed the video Miss G. Post in you OP as well as the link to that NeoGaf thread? It'll help for people coming into the thread so that they instantly don't jump to say it's SEGA's fault, because with how bad this is blaming SEGA for this would be like blaming the Sony for Windows 8.

I've got a video about the problem as well. Hopefully this won't get taken down off youtube as well when he's just trying to get the word out.
Looks like I get to post a video response when O get home. I get to tell more of the Internet about the time I got claimed for using audio that belonged to another company, when the part they claimed as being copyrighted didn't even have game audio (I muted it in editing) nor commentary. Basically I hate to fight a copyright cla against someone who was claiming to own silence. XD
Best part is, that same company pulled the same claim a week later on another video of mine at a part where there was no audio at all. Oh Orchard Music Group, when will you learn that you can't copyright silence. XD

So its that Russian B!tch again?

I don't play ATLUS games but I feel for you fans, getting legal OST's (especially off console releases) can be downright impossible sometimes.

If anyone knows of a way to get the first Dawn of War OST please contact me.

Lol. I already legally own copies of most of the games which include the soundtrack, naturally. The OSTs should come free. And this DMCA takedown isn't limited to OSTs. Fan videos have been taken down too.

And besides, availability of soundtracks is patchy in Europe.
Wait, since I legally own every Final Fantasy game, I "should get the OST's Free"? Because I own a movie, I should also get it's soundtrack free? No, you shouldn't.
Using that logic , youtube shouldn't exist . I mean should i buy the CD of every song i list to on youtube?

It wasn't actually the russian who did it I believe; she released a statement saying she had never even heard of the games before and asked (in poor English) if it was a virus. From what I heard, it was people using the fact that filing a counter claim on youtube requires you to give your personal details to the person who filed the original claim; identity theft, basically. Still, the most prominent SMT uploaders were all taken down, many with their accounts banned. LP's were targeted as well. Nothing to do with Atlus or Sega.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't some PS1 games allow you to put the disk into a CD player to listen to the soundtrack? They should bring that back as a way of letting people hear the soundtrack when they want. The soundtrack is on the game when you buy it, it makes sense that you should own the soundtrack.

If you have the games, there's almost always a way to extract the music from the game files. Also, there are smaller video hosting sites other than YouTube, which big companies don't seem to care all that much about.

Damn, this is still going on? I thought the issue would have resolved itself by now. Still a shame about those accounts getting shut down.

But seriously, the removal of the hiimdaisy dubs is just all kinds of messed up. Here's hoping for a fix very soon.

From the sounds of it this is a blanket takedown of everything related to ATLUS, including videos that should be covered under fair use terms.

That sounds more like you not wanting to pay for an actual OST and trying to justify yourself. If you want to listen to the music that's on the game files; then boot up the game, turn the volume up and let the game idle at that part.
So how's the outcome any different from listening to the same music on youtube, except for the fact that you use a bit more processing power?

Or for that matter, being tech savvy and simply[footnote]or complicatedly[/footnote] extracting the audio files from the game files?

As for companies being grateful for exposure which creates more demand... HAHAHAH... no... not in the OST world. Many OST's that are sold are usually bootleg knock-offs. Most people see nothing but a price difference when comparing two devices, and they usually go with the cheaper one which is the fake. Seeing something online doesn't help spread demand as if someone encounters it online, they're more likely to just keep experiencing it online and not put some capital out there to have their own copy; especially when something is out of print and/or rare (which means expensive).
I believe the OP meant that increased exposure might get more people to buy the game, something you can't just "experience online". Well unless you count "watching Let's Plays". Basically, "free advertising".

If the soundtrack adds additional content, then fine, but paying twice for something I own already? Lolno. That's just asking to be a cashcow.
If you aren't willing to buy the OSTs then don't, simple as that. Go to a torrent site or extract the files yourself or whatever. But don't expect to be able to listen to the music for free just because you think "there's no harm" and then complain when you can't anymore. The stuff is copyrighted for a reason.
Same shit, different method. Common sense says it's fair use, since I bought the game WITH the soundtrack included inside the game files. So are let's plays and fan creations, and companies should be thankful for the exposure which creates more demand for their actual products.

OST CDs are an accessory to the game. And the availability of OSTs on youtube is exposure for the game itself. I've introduced several friends to games through showing them the OST. And get real, I'm not going to open the game just to listen to the soundtrack when I'm using my PC. I have it on in the background, on youtube or foobar.

People can't be blamed for choosing not to get ripped off for expensive/ out of print soundtracks. Few are stupid enough to buy a 30 quid CD when they can just rip it.

This is very dumb situation, the only solution is to get the people that run Youtube tell these people (the russians involved) to F*** off.
It's just as the video above said, YouTube doesn't care about how the system works. They find it easier to just downright ban or shut down whatever it was that was flagged instead of reviewing it because in the US, according to Copyright Law, the one who owns the site is legally responsible when it comes to what is on that site, whether they uploaded it or not.
Sounds like I'm defending Google, but I'm not, their system is completely broken and should have been fixed years ago along with Copyright Laws needing a serious update because the only thing protecting you really is the Fair Use Act of 1976, and yeah a lot of things have changed since 1976. XP

They are very popular, and well loved videos of the Persona community. Getting those off Youtube was seen as a act of a cyberwar in the fanbase, pretty much. I went on Neogaf, and they were going absolutely apeshit over the deletion of the hiimdaisy parodies. I really do hope this get's resolved sooner, rather than later.

...And to think, that i thought it was all sorted out last week or so, I guess I was wrong. The Youtube guys really needs to stick their thumbs out of their arse, and start doing something about this.

Oh wow, ironically last night I was actually surfing through Youtube to look up Persona Dual mixes from one of my favorite dual mixers... and they were gone, the uploader too.
Welp, I really hope this Russian skank and her company of... idots? yeah, idiots, gets smacked by Youtube soon for false accusation on such a grand scale.

EDIT: They even got rid of the Hiimdasy dub?! A harmless friking Persona comic got flagged for having the OST too?!

*face. @#$%ing. palm.*

It's been reuploaded by some other people since:
Though not being able to access this magnificence even for a week should be a breach of human rights, or something. In any case, there's some debate over whether it was actually the russian actress's fault or not, since she supposedly knew nothing about it until angry persona fans sent her hate mail (and then shut her own channel down to get away from all the rude comments posted on her videos).

Well if thats true about her closing her account because of the flak then that puts SEGA back on the suspect list.
The scary part is, I really hope its not SEGA doing this. I was fine with them buying Atlus just as long as they don't keep their games locked in Japan/get involved with the development of future Atlus titles currently in the works (because SEGA...).

The last thing I want is to regret SEGA buying my favorite company. They had better come out of this situation innocent.

Xcell935, behold, YouTube's shitty copyright system! :D
You think it's bad now, you should see what a lot of other LPers have to go through when dealing with this system, it's not fun I'll tell you. Although ironically once you find out the system you can just as easily exploit it, just like how these phishers are doing. Could be worse, it could be Viacom filing the stuff again, but they've avoided YouTube since Goole gloriously handed them their own asses in court.
(One of the few instances in which Google did a good thing for the YT community)

Also, these are troll-bot accounts that are doing this, not the one lady because otherwise SEGA would have to come out and say that they are taking down the videos, and even then Atlus is still it's own company so no, it isn't SEGA that is doing this, just people exploiting YouTube's broken copyright report system.
