Australia, as usual, is overreacting too much to this.
Is is possible to overreact just the right amount? :p

Kidding aside (and hopefully no offence is taken) this seems pretty stupid.

Second Life banned?! OMG! OMG!

I don't care..

Aussie's like me shouldn't even be playing that anyway, there's so much to do that's much much worthwhile. Going Out for instance. Sports. Exercising. Drinking. Hanging out with friends - SL players that play for most of the day. They have friends too, right?

The beach is just less than half an hour away for most ppl in Australia. So I don't see the reason why they would be stuck in their homes playing Second Life, unless it's for business purposes or whatever.

But wtf I'm pretty upset about the M+ games being banned in Aus.

"WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN..."

Seems that is ALL people do! I, for one, am sick and tired of doing "this" and "that" for "children."

When do ADULTS get a little attention? Especially SINGLE adults! We pay MORE in taxes for this luxury of being "single" yet have little say in what is "created" for us. Then when there IS something made, a government like that in Austrailia comes along to usurp it.

Talk about safe sex! At least Second Life doesn't have to sell condoms nor have clinics for those who begin to suffer from sexually transmitted diseases.

Parents, WHEN are you going to talk with your "children" so that they know that the word punishment actually means what it implies? WHEN are we going to "restrict" children rather than make more laws restricting ADULTS?

I am most definately thinking of the children because it is the fault of the parents and not the governments when these mischievious rug rats go beyond their limits and enter the adult ones. Hmmm...parents "banning" their children from playing Second Life...what an interesting concept.
Can I vote for you?

When a game is banned for excessive violence, I'm more understanding. People shouldn't be beating each other up in the street or shooting their neighbours etc. But when a game is banned for sex, I raise an eyebrow. Without sex Mr. Ban-Man you would not be alive. The Lord told us to go forth and multiply, as in have sex do it lots and pump out the kids. So why when a game has certain sexual themes people get all 'it's bad for the kids' those kids wouldn't even be there without sex!
On top of that, why isn't it the parents responsibility any more? I don't let my five year play Manhunt, that's just dumb. Also there's been violence in games since forever. Mario has killed more people than anyone in the GTA universe. Sure they only disappear in a puff of smoke, or flatten into nothingness, but they're still dead.

Yeh it is all pretty ridiculous. Well at least if it goes through, I should get a bit of business with clients wanting me to bypass the filters if they don't know how.
Hell i'll probly just teach everyone to spite the government ^^

I don't see why they have to ban games because they have adult content... What kind of parents let there children play games were you can have sex and kill people and see blood and guts flying into the screen... If people over 18 years old want to play games like this what business is it of theirs! Violence and sex was in Australia. In the world even before online games came into the picture... it is the responsibility of the parents to watch what there children do. Personally I don't see why kids spend all day inside on a game... When I was young I was always outside... If the Australian government gets to decide what we watch, play and do in our free time whose to say in the future we will have any freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of choice, freedom to live! This is why I am happy that I am moving out of Australia and going to a country that makes more since.
A country that not only looks into something, instead of giving into some ***** crying saying "this will affect our children in the future" what affects the children today is lack of discipline.. A 13 year old kid can't go out and buy a game that is rated MA15+ without a parent or guardian... So why buy your kid a game like that if you?re only going to have a cry about it later. Take SL for eg. for people who are not as privileged as most it gives them a chance to meet new people, do things they can't, earn money and gives them a chance to be a little happier. I am not a big player of SL. I have played it a few times and I know that there is some graphical content but you can only find it if you are age verified and if you go looking for it. It is the stupidity of parents if they verify there child and give them access to such content.
If Australia is going to become a joke by parents who are to stupid to look after there own damn kids then Australia has bigger issues. It is honestly becoming harder and harder to see the freedom in the land of the free.
