We're starting to see casualties from Australia's internet ban. Second Life was banned because the user can engage in sexual activities, which were which are added to the game through community objects. I think it's just a law of the internet: You give people tools, they're going to find ways to recreate their tools. Australia should ban XBox Live and all manner of online chat, because you can say and hear all manner of crude racial epithets involving your mother and a small equine.

That said, we all know what Second Life is really for.

I know it's only Second Life, but this is nonetheless ridiculous. The people who got this banned are obviously incapable of considering the internet and gaming as anything other than a festering heap of gratuitous violence and sex.

Oh well, you can always move.

I don't know what to say that hasn't been said in other threads, so I'll just make it simple.

censorship = bad

But that's why I love the internet.

It's really sad when a game like Second Life, one of the more intuitive games in my book, gets banned because of idiocracy... :D

Good one, yeah. The Aussie officials seems rather afraid of sex and violence. Could it have something to do with the island being a former british prison colony?

Nah, they should ban walls.
Yea, perhaps they will. And then we will be seeing giant city's of tents and trailers showing up all over the place.
No good. Tents and trailers still have walls. Tent wall... Trailer wall...

It's still a platform where people fifteen and under can be exposed to drawn pornography, if they're trying to see it.

Nah, they should ban walls.
Yeah, and kids too, while they're at it.
And then they breach Human Rights, and the UN gets involved*, and Australia collapses to mass riots and revolutions.

* Sits around doing nothing.

No no, you see that's go around the issue but not confronting it. They should ban [i/]hands[/i] that way it would be impossible to draw at all, it would even make sex (which from what I've read seems to be illegal in Australia) harder becuase taking your clothes off would be too much of an effort.

I'm all for petrol bombing the homes of those officials. Shall we take a vote and them email them the link to the petition and state politely that if they don't repeal it we'll burn them alive in their homes?
