Let's be fair now, an identifying characteristic of Asperger's Syndrome is the incapacity to make the connection between behavior and consequence. He may not have known he was pushing the line, especially if he was smart enough to know how to do what he did, he probably would've been otherwise smart enough to know he was risking his neck without his mental handicap.DownOnTheUpside said:Look at the day and age this is happening in. Terrorists, war, blah blah blah. Of course if someone hacks the US computer system. The US is going to be pissed. He should be prosecuted by the US government for this. A deed like this should not go unpunished but as for 60 years? No.
I like how alot of you are like "Awwwwww he's just got Asperger's Syndrome. He didn't know any better." To hell with that... WAKE UP. HE HACKED A GOVERNMENT COMPUTER NETWORK. He's not a dumbass and knew what the hell he was doing. It's ILLEGAL to do that. No matter what the damn reason was for doing it.
Stop finding fault with the US. You jackasses.
And stop giving the man pity. He doesn't need it and doesn't deserve it.
At first I thought UK was sending us their trash, but in this case, the US should be the decider, since it affected the US, not the UK. If a US citizen did the same to your government, I would be for sending them to suffer under your laws. If someone wronged you, would you prefer to decide how to make ammends, or leave it to their parent (since it is easier to relate with kids with parents) who may not do it as severe as they deserve since it is not really their problem and may not think it so bad.Amnestic said:"Hey, US Government? He committed a crime in Britain, as a British citizen, as such he should be tried in Britain, as a British citizen
actualy, if he did hack Uk computers he would be thanked for finding the faults in the system and possibly paided a large sum of money.jasoncyrus said:If he'd hacked UK computers then yeah throw the book at him but meh.
He shouldn't have to; but sadly, America does have the power to do this. This was formed in an agreement signed by David Blunket a few years ago stating that America can take people from Britain to America without any evidence whatsoever. It's not right but they have the power to do it.george144 said:So what are your opinions, should he be forced to stand trial in America, does the US government have the right to do this, is it right to punish this mentally underdevelopment man in the same way as you would a fully developed one?
Fuck. You.george144 said:is it right to punish this mentally underdevelopment man
Only after the government tried to nail him to the wall...Bigsmith said:actualy, if he did hack Uk computers he would be thanked for finding the faults in the system and possibly paided a large sum of money.jasoncyrus said:If he'd hacked UK computers then yeah throw the book at him but meh.
nope while he was in the UK at the time the servers he accessed were located in the US. there is many a court case that have proven you must be tried in the country where the servers are located.Amnestic said:"Hey, US Government? Here's my middle finger."

No kidding, I wholeheartedly agree with these statements. Besides, who is to say he's really looking at aliens? He could be like a kid saying he didn't do, or saying his sister did it, could very well be an excuse to avoid trouble. I wouldn't doubt that too much, give him the fair trial though, it was a problem in the US, it should be handled in the US.barryween said:yes Yes YES!!!firedfns13 said:Being mentally handicapped doesn't give someone the right to rob a bank, so why is looking at government documents any different?barryween said:Mentally underdeveloped or not, he has no right to hack into the US governments computers, no matter what he was looking for. He could have dangerous files and be a threat to us and even if he DOES have Asperger's syndrome he should know better. So I think the US is doing something that needs to be done, I mean, he could have done some major damage had he wanted to.
I agree. I hate when people try to claim it was the mental disabilities fault, not the persons fault. The laws the law, people!
Thank you. I hate how these people are like "BUT HEZ GUUD AMURICA JUS DONT WANNA LUZE FACE!!!"B T A M R D said:I agreebarryween said:Mentally underdeveloped or not, he has no right to hack into the US governments computers, no matter what he was looking for. People.
He hacked into the US governments' computers.
The computers that hold top secret information on highly sensitive stuff!
That is VERY illegal and basically anyone who is coherent knows that.
Don't even give me that "It's not his fault" shit. The Asperger's has NOTHING to do with it.
If he weren't mentally challenged you would all be saying "SEND HIM OVER TO AMERICA! THEY CAN GIVE HIM HELL!" and if he were living in the USA and did this to the UK government computers you all would be saying "SEND HIM OVER HERE! WE'LL GIVE HIM HELL!"
Because the Internet is solely owned by the UK...?Amnestic said:He committed a crime in Britain, as a British citizen, as such he should be tried in Britain, as a British citizen
