It sure can't beat the AvP game that went on here on the escapist. LOL
Think that was more fun to do then constantly shooting, slashing and hiding.

From what I played in the demo, I would have to say that it's a bit crappy, I mean come...ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!
Game was dissapointing to say in the least.

Wasn't fun, butchered the franchise even more (I didn't think it was possible) and was a complete waste of both bandwith and hard drive space.

Oh and also... I WILL SHOW YOU TRUE POWER.

i dont belive thats true. Im a massive fps fan but this rahter stunk. 2 weapons at a time or 1 smart gun (which you only use twice in the whole marine campagin). It annoyed me. With the marine you should have been on edge every seconed but i felt they just missed it

Aliens a ***** to control? Welcome to realism
No Zoom? Welcome to Realism
Pradators get shiny new yet inappropriate blades? Oh fun! Blades are fun for everyone!
And if space marines aren't getting the complete shit kicked otu of them, there's something incredibly wrong going on.

I guess I just like the aim the devs were going for.

True realism is what realism does. But its aliens with acid for blood fighting more alien hunters. Fuck realism. This game was majorly pointed away from realism. Its very real that a crazy wall walking alien needs 2 stop for a seconed then go onto the next wall. no it isint. Yes maybe i wanted aiming mostly because i enjoy it. Oh and also because the pulse rifle is shit when u can just wait for an alien to get 5 meters away from you and shoot it once with the shotgun. You say realism is the reason for these fun irritants. If it is it is the only place that realism comes into play here. Just 2 add marines can block alien attacks...........realism....

Yeah, that was a pretty fun marathon of a game. :) Though looking at Twitter right now makes me wince...so...much...tweeting...

OT: I'm excited to give the game a go. I tried to get a hold of the 360 demo but as my Gold subscription's expired it wouldn't let me (which makes sense since the demo was multi-player only...which reminds me I need to re-sub before the Halo: Reach demo comes out.) I can't see how it's an "EPIC" fail as for it to fail epically it would have to not work at all or at least be ported into some kind of rythm-game format or something. It just seems you didn't care for the game.

The last AvP game I played was pretty fun both solo and multi-player.

Yes exactly on the spot i diddent care for the game majorly.i admit i loved jumping about after humans and ripping there heads off who doesnt. It was interesting for over an hour.... But its not just that. Its the fact that somthing like this could be great. Im not saying i can comprehend the genius and complex ways these games are made down to the dot. But i feel deppresed this is what gamers get. Less than average

I actually played AVP before it came out as a movie and before this FPS came out for it. It was a RTS for the PS2, and it wasn't that bad actually. Granted the difficulty scale was up the ass but you could easily see the triangle of checks and balances. Fun times.

This is not an epic fail, nor is it a fail! It's actually okay, but there are much better games out there.

EDIT:

Also, May i suggest if we are to take you seriously, you get grammar and spelling right? Thanks.

First off welcome of the Escapist.

Second of all Spelling,Grammer and Punctuation.

Third and finally Paragraphs.

OT: The game wasn't an epic fail, it just wasn't a win.

Protip: Use the "Quote" button in the lower right hand of a comment.

OT: I didn't like the demo, and I didn't like AVP 2000, so I seriously doubt I'll like this.

For me the original AVP from 1999 was the first game I have ever played in my life and it scared the living hell out of me, I recently bought the improved version from Steam and loved it with all my heart. I pre-ordered the new AVP, and when I started playing it I instantly realized that the new AVP is ALOT harder than the old one, the old one I could do on the hardest setting with 2 hands behind my back and without blinking but the new one I instantly had the problem of never being able to tell when an alien is actually dead instead of just knocked over. A few tries later and I had figured it out and I found the marine campaign to be quite scary, the predator campaign is good in the beginning and gets great once you get the spear. Cause I like doing what the predator did in the movies e.g. staying up high and cloaked while picking off enemies one by one with your weapons. Unfortunately that didn't really work in the early part of the game cause I could get off 2 fully charged plasmacaster shots before having to recharge which is i.m.o. horrible gameplay design, the same goes for the mines and the disc is simply really hard to use. The spear is a joy to use which made the game really fun. Then with the alien campaign.. ugh the alien campaign, whoever designed that transition system should be suspended 20000 feet up in the air. Seriously, I can't jump to my enemies, I can't jump from roof to roof, instead I have to jump onto something horizontal then climb or jump down to the actual roof. Getting off of a roof is even more fun, instead of just jumping and reaching ground you have to climb your way down which leaves you quite vulnerable. The thing I did like however was creeping along the ceiling in the shadows picking off enemies one by one, which as you might have guessed is a pain in the ass. Even something as simple as walking through an open door becomes a challenge when the alien starts latching onto walls and climbing up instead of walking through. And heavy attacks on the alien feel really really crap, you have to wait 2 seconds or something before it actually attacks, which is really quite shit on a character that's supposed to be feared for its speed. So basically, the marine campaign is the best, predator campaign gets epic once you get the spear (which is awfully late) and the alien campaign is frustrating as hell and I really recommend playing it on easy just for the story and the feel but not on normal or higher cause that will cause you to commit suicide. So conclusion: AvP is not an epic fail, the alien just is.
