Sons of Anarchy [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1124373/]: A crime drama about an american motorcycle gang. It's some of the finest quality TV I've seen in a long time. All the characters have major personality. Also, almost no-one has seen this so you'll be able to introduce people to some fine TV they may not have heard of.

Rome [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0384766/]: A two season re-telling of Caesar's rise to power told through the eyes of two Roman soldiers. A hint of history glamorised with bloody brutal and brilliant story-telling.

Chuck: Others have said this, it's just funny.

Generation Kill [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0995832/]:An embedded journalist with an American military unit in Iraq. Doesn't get too preachy about the war, just tells a fine story, some good action, and some great humour.

West Wing.

One of the greatest American television shows of all time. Watch it. Love it.

Oh yes, do this. Just make sure you're paying attention, they talk very fast.

Band of Brothers

Boston Legal.

Hadn't seen these two mentioned before and quoted to make sure they're seen twice. Very different shows, Band of Brothers is probably the best show about a modern-ish military made even pipping the Generation Kill I suggested.

And Boston Legal will make you happy, guaranteed.

Firefly is some of the best sci-fi you will ever see. The best way to describe it is a western space opera.

It's very funny with some nerd humour and references. Very fun to watch and, for me, doesn't get boring.

Fantastic show, probably my favorite right now. But you need to watch the original two seasons first to get what's happening. That, or have someone bring you up to speed.

Human Target is a fun ride. Straight up action every week with a great support cast that includes Jackie Earl Haley. A neat throwback to some classic 80's action films combined with modern technology and effects.

It's very funny with some nerd humour and references. Very fun to watch and, for me, doesn't get boring.

-How I met your mother (Comedy about a man who tells his children how he met their mother, but it's actually only a reason for awesome date stories, a bit of drama and a lot of comedy. Neil Patrick Harris is made of awesome)
-Dr. House (A team of the best doctors try to find out what is wrong with patients. A police-thriller-drama, but instead of a murdered, they have to find a disease. And also, House is a megalomaniac, pill-popping, evil, awesome guy)
-The mentalist (a team of detectives hire a mentalist to help them solve crimes. But he is not from the police and he likes to show it by manipulating witnesses and hypnotising suspects)
-Batman The Animated Series (Only the best batman ever)
-Reboot (You have to see it to understand the awesomeness)
-Firefly
-Monk
-Avatar the last airbender

It has Guns, awesome motorbikes, Kidnapping, stalkers, porn, S&M, Necrophilia, knifes, bent coppers, honest coppers (doing the right thing), blackmail, neo narzis, gangsters, people trafficing, drugs, smuggleing, big cigars, sluts, car repos, murder, buckeroos, FBI, street standoff's. Plenty more its just the best thing on TV in a long time

Season 3 has just started in USA and you can by 1&2 in shops in UK
