I swear this is true.

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/bahar-mustafa-police-called-in-over-goldsmiths-union-diversity-officers-race-hate-tweet-10268964.html

I really find it hard to not smile at this. Not at her being investigated, I think that she didn't do anything illegal really. She would just waste the police's time and money. She should lose her job though. What I do find funny are the other things mentioned in the article. She's like the perfect example of the radical feminist everyone hates. First she was all "Being a minority, I can't be racist" and now it's "#KillAllWhiteMen is just a feminist expression, you know? It's a figure of speech". The cows must be out in the yard again, because I smell bullshit.

Anyway, after seeing her picture, it reminded me of a question that's been on my mind since GG and Anita Sarkeesian happened: What is with radical feminists and piercings/dyed hair?

'Cuz you see, they refuse to bow down to the patriarchy! They aren't a part of your system, man! THEY'RE ADUUUUUULTS!!

OT: Ehhh, I can't really even muster a "fnarr fnarr" reaction. The shrieking feminists will still spin this as a sign of the patriarchy and white oppression, because that's how fanatics operate. Just wasting police resources. She should just have been given a stern talking to, and a serious warning. Or maybe suspended from her duties.

As some people have been arrested for similar hate speech tweets in the past, I believe it is only fair that she should be hoisted by the same laws. We don't allow people to shout "Kill all the Muslims", so we shouldn't allow this either.

There is a theory that when animals are toxic or poisonous, they have bright colours to warn others off.

On a more reasonable explanation, these people are so desperate for attention and to be different and "cooky hippy pixie girl" that they watch Scott Pilgrim once, think she is a cool girl and dye their hair and shove themselves full of metal. Frankly, I'm thankful, it provides a "Do not touch, probably crazy" sign for me to see.

The dyed hair is meant to be a way to change their self identity usually caused by a traumatic childhood event, or you know they just copy each other to try to look legitimate within their community.

I'm torn on this. On the one hand, I like to see hateful people hoisted by their own petard. On the other hand, I want to say "Is Scotland Yard out of problems?", but hate speech isn't as much of a criminal thing where I'm from.

Thank you.[i/] I'm a proud feminist, and what I'm feeling now might be how most muslims felt when the USA finally got bin Laden. That woman does not represent what I stand for.

I meen sheesh... Ethnic minorities can't be racist? Really?! Read the damn dictionary. Giving people inferior treatment due to the color of their skin sure as shooting is racist. That's what racism is.

Now, about the KillAllWhites thing, which I haven't found a screencap of so far and thus I'm wondering if it really happened... Here are my thoughts about that kind of thing in general.

"It's just an expression..." Well, most people who tell rape jokes don't actually find rape jokes funny, but I still have the sense to make extremely sure to only tell them in private with people I know are okay with them.

I know, I know... Context matters. Lots of things we say to our frineds in private would sound horrible if they got out. But there are limits. You can't post hate speech and say "It's okay, I was just kiiiidding!" I'm fully aware that I've got privileges, being a straight white man. But that doesn't mean that dissing an entire group of people is okay. No, "but you're the majooority!" is not a universal excuse for anything.

Words hurt. It's not okay to say nasty things about a group of people just because you use "Ironic!" as some get-out-of-jail-free card.

-exploiting her position of being a minority in one of the most liberal places on the planet, check
-attacking the oppressive patriarchy through violent slogans, check
-getting support from idiots everywhere, double fucking check

I'd like to see her try in her country of birth(or her parents' country of birth) or hell, inside the EU, just further to the East. See how that works out for you honey and how long does it take for some drunk bozo passing by to hang you on a streetlamp by that porcine nose pierce you got there.

I can't quote, because for some reason I can't at work, but @Letalisk(and I suppose the thread in general) The police have to "investigate" any complaint, it's standard procedure. It's because a complaint has been made, it doesn't have any bearing on the legitimacy of said complaint. Not to saying it is or isn't, but that the police have said they are investigating isn't exactly a momentous announcement.

PS: How the hell do I get rid of that blue underline thing?

Actually from what I remember there were quite a lot of people real angry at the States when they released news of his death. Even here in my own country.

Me too, and I've been looking through lots of articles for one. Apparently as of now, it's just alleged. Her Facebook (it wasn't her Twitter surprisingly) has been taken down already.

Well from what I stand she's been spewing hate speech at every possible outlet, which can be used to incite violence, plus as far as I can tell, the way she has been doing is against British law. So I kind of hope she does get charged, indited, and convicted. A message needs to be sent that all violent hate speech is unacceptable in the civilized world, being a racial, gender, sexual minority, or "underprivileged class" does not excuse it.

I'm in the camp of 'you can make a joke about anything', but Like you said, context matters. You joking with people in person, or being at a standup comedy show, etc, all set the context that, yes, you are joking. It's a pretty big difference to tossing out a tweet about the same thing and hoping people get that it's a joke (assuming the person in question was actually joking).

I think that's part of the major problem with twitter. No one seems to understand that twitter isn't text messaging your friends. It's the internet's version of climbing up onto a streetlamp with a megaphone and saying stuff to everyone in Times Square. At that point, everything you say loses all the context it may have had otherwise, and so - void of context - all that stuff just looks like hate speech ramblings of a douchebag on the internet.

Talk to your kids before they twitter!

Eh, I suspect it's like bikies or hippies, not wanting to play by society's rules on appearance, and presumably doing so in much the same way because they want to conform to something else, whether they realise it or not.

Oh FUCK no, this is just going to turn her into a martyr for similar batshit insane individuals. They're going to use this as "proof" that she's right.

This woman infuriates and disgusts me to the very core. Possible martyrdom aside, should she be stripped of her position (She was a representative of some college, wasn't she?)? Yes. Absolutely. Kick her out and make sure she never gets into a position like that ever, ever again.

They'd laud her actions regardless.

LoL "It's just a figure of speech, you know?"

I'm sure everything this guy was saying was "just a figure of speech" too.

Just remember, kids! Only white people can be racist!

It's just signaling. People do it all the time in every walk of life. Nothing particularly surprising, egregious, or objectionable about it. It does, however, become very, very funny when they pretend to originality or subversion by donning what amounts to a uniform.

As for Bahar, she's a racist. It happens. Not the end of the world, and she shouldn't represent all of feminism - just the shitty, over-represented radical bits. She should probably be fired outright, but only because her position is literally tasked with counteracting racism. Anyways, it is nice to see common sense pushing back extra hard on this one. Definitely a sea change surrounding a lot of the SJW bs in the media lately. Hell, we might even get back to legitimate, righteous social justice at some point!

As much as I oppose hate speech laws in principle, I can't help but find it hilarious that they're biting the progressive left squarely in the ass. Do your thing Scotland Yard.
