Yes James were brilliant as well, I held Tim Booth's hand as he stood on the barrier! Plus one of my friends was on stage at the end when everyone went out and started dancing, it was a real WTF moment. The xx are 2 kinds of music: Late night driving music or sex music (or both if you want to have a horrible but awesome accident). Because I wasn't in a car and because I would probably have gone and seen them with a male friend, it just didn't seem appropriate. Also, I get the impression that Im going to have a lot more chances to see the xx
Did you see James before the Macabees? They were awesome.
In all fairness with the taking a poo comment, I remember at the Macabees, there was a big kerfuffle that someone actually had done a shit in the middle of the crowd. I never verified the fact but still...
Best bands I saw that weekend were Jonsi (lead singer from Sigur Ros), Belle and Sebastian, the National, Dirty Projectors and Yeasayer. Jonsi was probably the best.
Oh yea, one of mine too. Pissed off I didn't just jump over like most people did. That would have been fuckin' awesome.fullbleed said:Yes James were brilliant as well, I held Tim Booth's hand as he stood on the barrier! I am not a huge fan of HTDA... I used to LOVE NIN, but I enjoyed it because of the CRAZY complexity Reznor used to put into his music. The Fragile is just such a cacophony of sound flavors. HTDA is soooo minimalist it hurts.Darwins_Folly said:KEM10 said:But how about How to Destroy Angels. It is Trent Reznor's new side project with HIS WIFE. She's doing all the vocals too.
if you like the gothic rock scene, i would try evanescence or lacuna coil. both very good bands, but the former is kind of depressing in some of their songs.Patrick Dare said:snip
For symphonic metal with a female singer, try Holyhell.Aby_Z said:Well, if you like Symphonic Metal, then all my favorite bands.
Nightwish.
Epica.
Krypteria.
Within Temptation.
All really great symphonic metal with female lead singers.
Well, if you like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs then I'd suggest The Beautiful Bodies [http://www.myspace.com/thebeautifulbodies], a band over in my neck of the woods (Kansas City). The lead singer, Alicia Solo, has a great singing voice and awesome stage presence, and if that isn't enough the Bodies have actually played with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.Patrick Dare said:Bands I already know about:
