I know a lot of people that love progressive rock and classical music but hardly any of them know of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. They're not one of the lesser bands in the 70's, they had songs you could call the really powerful and they made one of the last Piano Concerto's (and a great one at that).

Trilogy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iv_rC7d9tI

Another band not many know of is Deathspell Omega. They had some pretty good shit, I was quite surprised when I first heard them. However, they're not easy to listen too, fuckin' insane black metal with lyrics you'll never understand, that kind of thing.

A Chore for the Lost - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAGGFaogNVs (sorry, quality isn't good)

Listening to Econoline Crush. Their 'Devil You Know' album is fantastic.

It was never released here in the UK. Had to import it from Canada!

Glad to see someone mentioned Sabaton. More people who like power metal (and/or who enjoy songs about war) need to know about that band.

Well I'm not going to assault you with a wall of text here so I'll just give you a top 5.

Note: These bands are all pretty popular in their own circles but the majority of the populace still has no idea who they are.

5. The Epoxies

4. The Tossers

3. The Voodoo Glow Skulls

2. The Meteors

1. The Sloppy Seconds

Thanks to my line of work I could name thousands of bands here that nobody has heard of... but I'd rather keep it that way. There's a good reason why people haven't heard of a lot of music - because a lot of it's not really worth hearing about.
What's wrong with you? ALL music is worth hearing about, just not by everyone.

OT: Fans of folk metal should definitely hear these guys:

Nice find there, they remind me of Finntroll and Skyforger. I always enjoy me some folk metal, although Skyforger is still my favorite. Something about Latvian pagan folk metal really works for me.

Cryoshell, finnish group that did the commercial music for some bionicle commercials. Now they're a band, and they've upgraded their old stuff

Ninja'd. I guess some people have heard about them after all. ^_^

I've always loved a band called Counting Crows, though every time I mention them I receive blank and confused stares.
Oddly enough, I have 3 Counting Crows tattoos.

OP: Lucero. It's very rare thaat I meet somebody who knows of Lucero. Baffling to me.
Amongst a million others...

Actually... as far as I know Nightcore is not an actual band. I love it but from what I have been told, it's just taking a song and speeding it up, mixing it up a bit, and giving it alot of bass. All the songs I have heard by them, well over 30 because I think its awesome, already exist. They've just been mixed by random people and labeled 'Nightcore'
I could be wrong but I think thats what it is.
Touche. Excerpt from Yahoo answers.
Nightcore is a techno band that is made up of two boys from Alta, Norway, named Thomas S. Nilsen and Steffen Ojala Søderholm. They mix techno/dance music into faster and happier sounds. This upbeat band has great songs like, ?Will My Heart Survive,? ?Look at Me Now,? and ?Don?t Say Goodbye.? All these songs are included in their ?Sensacion? album.
Interesting. Well that's cool. Now people just need to stop copying them with half assed mixs and claim it to be Nightcore just because they sped it up in audicity -__-

Yeah, people who aren't into electronica/DnB don't know them.
I'm seeing them at Festival Hall (Melbourne AUS) on Nov 1st :D Sooooo excited.

I like Pretty Lights, I could find a video, or I could just plug a CSS map I just made XD
