In real life? Pretty much anything. I listen to a lot of bands that even people online don't know of, but I'm always surprised when someone in real life has never heard of Black Sabbath, or Pink Floyd, or Manowar. How do you not know Black Sabbath?! I was talking about the death of Dio with a friend, and she was all, "Hang on, who is this guy?"

Iron Maiden, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Black Sabbath... Just a few off the top of my head, really great stuff, can't believe more people don't listen to all these.

In general: Billy Talent.

At work: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, etc.

Stop me if I've made you depressed yet.
You had me at Billy Talent...

There's Baxter, I can understand why no.one's heard of them though.

Bronx, I can understand that too.

The Last of the Believers, that one is a bit harder to believe.

Then there's Rise Against, Anti-Flag and Bad Religion. No-one's heard of those 3 over here and that is almost enough to make me sad. Not because they're great, but because they're pretty big in other countries and Bad Religion has been around forever on top of that.

No one I ever talk to knows who Pendulum is, even though they're a great band
You've got to be kidding me. Half of what I see on facebook are my friends' statuses about how good each new album they have is.

Being British most people at my school know these guys. I think they only have one album out at the moment but seriously check it out. Little Lion Man and the Cave are probably their best songs to understand their music.

Well, you see. I'm a non-emo Teenager. I also like Heavy Metal, but everyone around me likes rap and hip hop*. Thusly, nobody has heard of any of my favourite bands, or any metal bands at all, really, other than Metallica, and RARELY Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.

*I must admit, I absolutely detest Hip Hop. There are a few good songs, but other than that it seems like the same three songs by several different people who know how to use a Thesaurus. But this thread isn't titled "Genres of music that you absolutely hate" so let's move on.

Next to nobody I know know of the metal bands I listen to; In Flames, Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquillity, Trivium, etc.

But the one artist that nobody seems to have ever heard of is the country/metal master John 5. Guitarist for Rob Zombie, ex-guitarist for Marilyn Manson, and behind the curtains collaborator for many, many, many well known artists (KD Lang, Rod Halford, David Lee Roth, Scorpions, Nikki Sixx, Paul Stanley, Static-X, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc.) as well as a talented solo musician, having released six albums.

I'm a fan of Sabaton, but no one I've met in real life has ever heard of them. They're virtually unknown in the US.
A year ago I would have said the same thing, but their popularity has exploded over here in the UK recently. I'm off to see them with Alestorm in just over a week.

I have. They're pretty damn good.

For me, it's Zeromancer. They're a Norwegian band that came from the leftovers of Seigman in 1999. They only toured North America once, although they're much more popular locally.

I want them to tour the US though. They're awesome because each of their albums are different. For example, their ZZYZX album is rather mellow and soft, while their latest album The Death of Romance has a much more gothic sound to it.

I haven't heard an album that I haven't liked from them either. :)

It's hard to find a person in Sweden who likes metal and hasn't heard of them though :p

Kamelot. It's ok, I know none of you will know of them. Even among metalheads they're unknown. I've also recently discovered the bands Firewind, Thunderstone, Primal Fear, Blind Guardian, Axenstar, Demons and Wizards and Epica that none of my metal loving friends have ever heard of.

I'm talking about those bands that you can't talk about with other people because they don't know them. Keep in mind that I'm referring to real life conversations, not internet conversations.

One band that I have a hard time finding fans for is Radio Moscow. Not a lot of people in my area seem to know them, but they're awesome. A great mix of blues and psychedelic rock. Modern too, I might add.

Got bands like this?
Highly awesome I might say...
Not many of my friends have heard about Children of Bodom... or even Pink Floyd... blasphemy, that's all I say!
