They're still touring (and have been since 1964) but no one my age knows about them today. My favorite band of all time...The Moody Blues.

The Offspring are kinda fading. The last album was pretty crappy, but I hope the new one will be good. They never seem to tour the uk...

The Rapture; since Mattie Safer (their bassist) left I thought they might turn to shit, or worse yet just split up, which would be a huge shame because they are absolutely incredible live, and their two albums are superb.

They've lost their passion since Holy Wood IMO. I liked TGAoG and all, but it can't compare to AC, HW or MA
Well its not really them anymore, its really just him. The last two albums have really been all about Manson (thats Brian Warner or whatever) specifically and is becoming more like a solo act. Which is a pity, the rest of the band was great.

I think all bands will fade pretty quickly.

My reasoning: I do listen to older music (my parents generation of music), but I don't listen to my grandparents generation of music, or my great-grandparents generation of music. Similarly my parents didn't listen to their grandparents generation of music, meaning that as far as my family is concerned, my great-grandparent's generation of music has died out.

Assume this is true for most people, and some won't even listen to their parent's generation of music.

If this continues with any children I have, then apart from any music appreciation they pick up from me, the furthest back I estimate them listening to is only my generation of music (these last few decades of pop) which means that by the time I'm a grandparent, the music I listen to, (my parent's, rock and roll, punk, the Beatles, all these "Classics") will have died out.

Music doesn't last very long really.

Drist. They have 2 albums yet they have never been signed to a record company and they haven't had a drummer for like 4 years now. (They had bonus tracks on the first 2 guitar heros for those who don't know). It'd be a real shame if they quit now tho cause their music is brilliant.

You know that System split a while ago right?

OT: I don't really have any. I'm hoping Faith No More do another tour before they split again, but only because I want to see them.
yeah i know they split up but a reunion is possible
and i also hope a perfect circle never fades

I have a feeling people with be listening to music from the 70s-80s for at least for another fifty years, if not more. And the Beatles as well.

Not so much a case of fearing they'll fade away but knowing they will. Gallows, having just been dropped from Warner Brothers (for not becoming the next Green Day or MCR) are hanging in the balance at the moment. This was inevitable really and they always said they wanted to quit before falling into self-parody like some bands do. May get another album out of them, maybe not, we'll see.

A lot of the bands I like grow in popularity, but fade in creative talent. For me, this is much worse. You still get new albums by your favourite band, and people love them... But to me they are dead and soulless.

Cage The Elephant.

Great little band in my opinion.
This

And Atomship. Sure, they've already died and stop mattering, but they have a wonderful sound that I'm glad all my friends can agree on being impressive.

The Postal Service hasn't really done anything in a while...

Also, Bowling for Soup seems to be fading away. They still rock in my opinion but they're losing radio play and everything... hopefully they don't go away because I really like their music.

It's a great shame that in five years, no one will remember The Receiving End of Sirens. They broke up in 2008, and only made two albums, and the members have moved on to other things, but they were so goddamn talented and as a group made such good music.

Same goes with Sparta. They've been on indefinite hiatus since around 2007, and have three awesome albums, but unless they come back and make a really kickass album that sells really well, no one will remember them. It's funny to listen to hear people who lovingly remember At the Drive-In and gush about The Mars Volta, but you mention Sparta and they just raise their eyebrows at you. Ugh.

I just want to call bullshit on this, because I listen to music that is 200 years old. The real classics can be remembered forever, but only the truly special music, like Mozart and Beethoven, can stand the test of time. Music can last as much time as people are willing to give it.

They haven't been announced yet, and I'm pretty sure they'd be headlining if they were there.
I thought Serj was pretty happy doing his solo thing.
