Wow, this looks like a great deal of fun. Hopefully medics won't be constrained to only using LMGs again. I also saw somewhere that jets would be in the game. Hopefully it turns out great.

Crap, my captcha looks like my physics homework. Damn you angular velocity!

...That looks kinda average. Darn, I was hoping for eye candy.

Oh well, 64 players is nice. *blinks at info* oh they'll say fuck too!

So now I'm kinda uninterested in this game :(
Are you crazy?!!

Do you see the lighting in this? You see the amount of tessellation? No jagged lines, nothing. This is rivals crysis 2 in terms of visuals. This is what we need for PC gaming, getting rid of DX9 and using new tech to its fullest.
It doesn't matter because Killzone 3 looks better than this. Crysis and Killzone are on top of visuals for FPSs at least. Only thing the BFBC2 had over other shooters was the feeling from shooting the weapons or get hit by explosions but even then Killzone is just as satisfying to shoot your weapons and get kills as BF.

Of course there is no complaints from console about 64 player games.

It is such a mind boggling stupid mechanic that basically breaks the game.

Oh good, something to keep the hype from getting too high. Looks like medics are using LMGs again.
You don't know that, the class customization is still unknown, there can be many options for classes now for all we know.
Or, more likely, its going to be assault, engineer, medic, and recon.
I know that, but we have yet to know the amount of class customization in the game.

If I may, in the first image, I am drawn to the 2D sprite smoke, as opposed to volumetric. The low resolution shadow map on the hole in the wall and the razor sharp shadow on the building in the distance. In the second image, I'm seeing a relatively flat texture, coupled with the afformentioned low resolution shadow maps on the soldiers. I don't think I even want to mention the wall.

It's not as impressive as the Cryengine was. It looks generic. It's not pushing anything visually. Not in stills, in the info you posted they're focusing on animation. It could also just be game informer doesn't have the tech to run it at max. But I am not impressed. Jaggies are eliminated by AA not tessellation, however that hole in the wall -does- look quite nice. So ...1 point to BF3.
The smoke can be argued, sense it is a still. Yes, the shadow on the wall in pic one isn't that high res, along with the razor sharp shadow. But look at the lighting on the soldiers on both pics, thats what my eye was drawn to. I really don't see any flat textures, besides that wall. But just look at the vistas, the backdrop. That looks fucking sick. And the shadows of the soldiers in pic 3 are not bad at all, they look good.

Also, I never said that tessellation eliminates jaggies, didn't mean to give that impression by my wording. Also here is a vid of Frostbite 2.0 that is going to be used in GDC this year.

I think medics using lmgs was one of the smartest things anyone has done with a class based multi fps game in awhile, sure it can be annoying when you get a squad of 4 medics running around keeping each other revived and shooting the fuck out of you but thats why the assualt class has grenade launchers

personally Im stoked about how this looks, I upgraded my comp for bf3 and its looking like it was money well spend... well I upgraded it for dow2 retribution, guild wars 2 and bf3 but so far all of them are coming up aces

I see that last image, and I immedialey think of the MoH multiplayer and how similar they look. The scope and the HUD especially look similar. Perhaps my theory of the MoH MP being a BF3 "beta" was correct? Just to get things like hit detection, weapon sound and feel down? Time will tell. Looks sweet though, regardless.

Sidenote: Where the fuck is my new Gameinformer?

I loved bad company 2, and I loved battlefield 2 even more, so this looks great.
However I have concerns.
Since it's multi-platform, I'm hoping they don't lose some freedom trying to get close to console ports, but I think that will be fine.
My main concern is this. I have a decent pc. Not top of the line, but certainly good. It nearly shit itself inside out trying to run bad company 2 on medium. If this game has "more lighting information in on thingy than an entire level of bad company" and all this destruction engine and such, It's going to be the new Crysis.

The smoke cannot be argued unless that is multiple explosions. Volumetric smoke would be a singular cloud, not a jumbled mess of circles that are smoke colored. The lighting is also fine on the soldiers, it's the shadow maps I was pointing out, they are not uniform, meaning they are low resolution. The shadows could be argued that they are wrinkles in the fabric, but we know better than that, also they don't coincide to the wrinkles in the textures.

To point out the flat textures I will point you to the soldiers glove in the second image for a bright shining example. The armor is pretty bad as well, but seriously what is up with that wall? >.>

Also the video, without commentary (I'm not an expert on lighting either, so I can't just tell :p) looks more like they're showing off lighting changes, and how they dynamically happen. Which is nice, but they don't seem to have improved the lighting in the stills from any other games we've seen.

I'm not saying the game doesn't look nice. I'm just saying it looks average right now. It either can't be shown properly in scans, isn't up to the visual brilliance they want, or hardware limitations or...well lots of other things. It really doesn't seem to be pushing anything. We'll wait and see though, I have no doubt it'll shape up to look better.

Yea, just remember this game isn't going to support DX9, you need a card that supports DX10/DX11. XP can't be used.

Supposedly, the game is going to be more PC-oriented, meaning the game will designed for PC as opposed being a unoptimized console port. Still going to be quite resource-intensive though I assume from past experiences with Battlefield games.

How about this, when we get some gameplay from E3, lets talk then :p

I'd rather see LMGs in the hands of a Support class, and SMGs in the hands of Spec Ops.

Too bad there's no XP suppourt on the PC. Guess I'll have to buy it on the Xbox 360 which is bad since all my friends play on the Computer.

Although I probably will have my own computer by then >.> And yes the pictures look rather good.
