Battlegrounds : A Pokémon Role-Play { Closed } - Day Two: On the Road to Jade Forest

This is my character sheet. It isn't quite complete, since the backstory is only half done, but it's 1.35am here, so I'll finish it in the morning. If you want to take a look and let me know any glaring errors you can see that would stop this being a viable character, then please do.

Name: Rachel Allen
Age: 18

Sex: Female

Appearance: Rachel is rather tall for a girl, at 178cm. Her light blonde hair frames her face, contrasting with her seemingly permanently tanned olive skin. She has bright blue eyes, always covered by a pair of thin framed, squared red glasses.

Although she has a feminine physique, it is usually covered by loose fitting, comfortable clothing. Rachel usually wears a loose pair of jeans with colourful Tee?s. Being sensitive to the cold, she is also often wearing a light grey hooded top. She carries a black backpackers bag filled with her essentials. She also has a light blue messenger bag, on the strap are six Velcro strips, the first of which has a pokeball attached to it.

Personality: Rachel is a seemingly shy girl. She finds it hard to approach strangers when she is on her own. However, when she is with her friends, people she trusts, then she finds it much easier to come out of her shell, and so she gains new friends by meeting her friends? friends. Although she enjoys the company of others, she is sometimes thought of as introspective and taciturn due to her generally quiet nature.

Once Rachel trusts someone, she will do anything for them. Kind and polite to those she likes, she manages to keep her friends close. Although she really cares for those closest to her, she feels no particular affinity towards society as a whole. She doesn?t particularly care about her fellow man if she doesn?t know them, although she tries to avoid other people finding this out. In truth, she sees herself as a realist, and she doesn?t dislike her fellow man, she just has no feelings either way.

Rachel takes a keen interest in academics, and she takes a particular interest in biology, especially Pokemon biology. Rachel made the tough decision to stop studying in order to take Pokemon League challenge in Gensia. Despite not actively studying anymore, she wants to find out as much information about Pokemon and their habitats as she can whilst she is on her adventure.

Profession: Ostensibly as a trainer, although also to research Pokemon and their habitats.

Talents: Rachel has an intuitive ability to sense what types of Pokemon may be living in a certain area based on its characteristics. She is also a quick learner, both academically and during practical tasks, so when shown how to perform a task, she is usually able to remember how to do it on her own.

Starter Pokemon: A level 5 Scyther known as Ninja

Inventory: 5 Pokeballs, 2 Great balls, 4 Potions, 1 of each status ailment healer, 5 days of clothes, 1 man pop-up tent, P$200 cash, P$2700 on card, mobile phone.

Hometown: Goldenrod, Johto

Biography: Rachel lived in the quiet, contemplative town of Lavender before moving to the busy metropolis of Goldenrod City. Her parents were both born and raised in Lavender, where they were high school sweet hearts. Rachel grew up their till the age of 11, moving to Goldenrod just before starting senior school.

In her formative years, Rachel?s parents would alternate their shifts at work, allowing one of them to always be at home to look after her. This led to Rachel spending most of her early childhood either with her parents or on play dates that they set up. This led to her becoming a little secluded from children other than those of her parent?s friends.

Her parents worked in the Kanto radio tower in Lavender town, and their jobs involved making sure they stayed up to date with the latest music. This meant that Rachel learnt a lot about music early on, and has loved it ever since. She would spend hours listening to her parents records whilst reading her favourite books or studying.

Eventually her dad was offered a much more lucrative offer at the radio station in Goldenrod. Having always dreamed of living in Johto, her parent?s decided to move for the new job. Although Rachel was upset at having to leave the people she loved in Lavender, she was excited about living in a big city. She loved exploring, and this would give her plenty to explore.

Within a week of arriving at Goldenrod, she had discovered the National Park. She loved visiting it just to watch the various types of Pokemon live out their normal lives. It was around this time that she became interested in Pokemon biology. She started to read books about how Pokemon live, and started trying harder in school.

This was the first time that Rachel had truly come into contact with the world of Pokemon. Her parents had never been particularly interested in battling or raising Pokemon, and her friends in Lavender had been too young to have Pokemon. She had heard that there were living Pokemon in the Pokemon Tower, but she never saw them during her visits.

Name: Mac Fargo
Age: 15
Sex: Male

Appearance: Green eyes with unusually small pupils , black hair in a thick buzz cut, all on a thin face that ended with a weak chin planted atop a thin and slightly muscular build, all measuring up to 6'2". Arms are abnormally long and terminated in small and slender hands. Mac usually wore navy blue or white shirts. He always wore a long brown overcoat over his shirts. He also wore new jeans with sneakers.

Personality: Mac was constantly observant and contemplative, thinking things through before acting. Unfortunately for him, Junior Firefighters often had to be quick to make decisions, and more importantly, not dead in the grave lazy. Uncaring and unable to commit, Mac is often completely passive about what happens around him. He didn't socialize well and went under the philosophy of everyone minding their own business. However when he does act, it is usually an act if compassion. He took up Pokemon training to his Joltik, his mother, the personal freedom, and the fact that battles seemed somewhat fun.

Profession: Formerly Junior Firefighter, Pokemon Trainer

Talents: Extremely observant(with perfect memory), fast runner, and his muscles, which wouldn't win him any medals, weren't anything to scoff at. Almost completely blind in darkness however.

Bio:
Born and raised in Sunyshore City, Mac was the older son of a pair of firefighters. His parents divorced when he was little however, leaving him with his father, while his mother scooted out with his brother to become a trainer on her own. Mr. Fargo was strict and unforgiving and expected a lot out of Mac. Mac however, failed to deliver, and flunked out of grade school despite having wondrous test scores. Mac actually took after his mother, because he missed her to an exceptional extent, to the point where every feature about her was idolized in Mac's mind. That is why he loves personal freedom and why he took up Pokemon training, to be closer to his memory of his mother. He obtained his Joltik during a stint with the Junior Firefighters(a job forced on him by his father) involving a hive of them attaching themselves to power grid and causing outages. They torched the pokemon(an act he didn't condone but didn't act against) as usual, but before Mac left he discovered a surviving Joltik, which he took home in spite of his father and named him Johnny. He didn't become a trainer until he was fired after literally falling asleep on the job. During a fire. That he was supposed to put out. His father was furious, and after a brief but ferocious argument between the two, Mac decided he could strike out on his own. Collecting his savings and suckering some other supplies off his friend he moved on to new horizons.

Tell me if there is anything I need to change, I'm relatively new to this.

Name: Thomas Johansson
Age: 20
Sex: Male

Appearance: Blond, brown-eyed Caucasian standing at roughly 1.80 meters, weighing something in between 85 and 90 kilos. Fit-looking, but neither toned or athletic in appearance. His thin hair is combed backwards, accentuating his square jaw, robust chin and thick neck. His overall body-structure is mesoformous.

Thomas' wardrobe consists mainly of casual wear, with some exeptions made for wildlife clothing, primarily used for rough-terrain navigation. His defining clothing piece is a low cap in dark blue, which he is rarely seen without assuming temperatures do not fall below 6 degrees Celsius, in which case he switches to woolen beanies. Preferred shirts are polos layered with heavy V-necks, preferred lowerwear is knee-long shorts. Shoes used mostly are sneakers, but he also keeps a pair of rubber boots on hand. Most of his equipment is stored in a camping bag he carries on his back, the rest (accessories, first aid and hygiene products) are kept in a cartousche at his hip.

Personality: Outwardly, Thomas has an open, attentive, curious and happy-looking face. However, he only looks the latter; he is actually quite neutral in disposition, which becomes apparent after a while when talking to him. Thomas can also be fairly insensitive and blunt in his statements, and while this is somewhat tempered by a willingness to rethink his opinions (this being a necessity for his profession), but often he ends up being yelled at (and frequently, rightly so) for his views.

Profession: Pokemon field researcher. This includes both wild and domesticated Pokemon.

Talents: Thomas is a decent multitasker, who can read, write and conduct a Pokemon battle while at same time also exercise critical thinking of his research findings. He is also a very quick writer. Due to his preference of hiking over any other mode of transportation, he has also developed a knack for moving through rough terrain quickly. He can also be very stealhty when it comes to getting up close to wild Pokemon for observation.

Starter Pokemon: A male Machop known as Henrik. Henrik shares his trainer's attentiveness, however, in contrast to Thomas he can also be quite the tease. Having been raised by Thomas from birth, he has attempted to learn Thomes' language with little to no success. The only words he has been able to use are "Tomas", "'Ej", and "Okej." He also seems to have difficulty pronouncing an "h."

Henrik is frequently forced to rely on himself in combat, due to the fact that his master is often writing down notes while battling. Thomas does tends to drop this habit when things get heated or dire, though.

Hometown: Fallarbor town, Hoenn

Biography: Thomas is the second-to-eldest child of a couple of Swedish immigrants to Hoenn. Generally he got along well with his parents and siblings, but he periodically got tired of their company and wished to travel in the wilds on his own. He often ventured into the mountains on his own (equipped with Super Repels, of course) over the weekends, where put his survival skills to the test over and again. By the age of fifteen he was an accomplished amateur hiker and well regarded even amongst his professional peers.

He had little contact with Pokemon before he took on a summer course of Pokemon research when he was sixteen, at which point he had found his calling. Later that year he went to the Scientists Boarding school in Slateport Thomas focused more on his scientific studies in favor of mountain hiking, and though far from the top of his class, got his scientific degree with flying colours three years later.

As a reward for finishing his studies, his older sister, who had at that point become a professional hiker, gifted him with an egg she had found while traveling Mt. Chimney. This egg were to become Thomas' Machop called Henrik, his primary guard against the wild pokemon.

After a solid year of field studies, Thomas decided it was time to take a vacation, choosing Gensia as his destination. In truth however, Thomas is the type of person who will never be on vacation, as he is ready to continue his work at any time.

So, thoughts on this?

I'll read the character that you put up. I'm not going to turn people away based purely on their post counts. Such things are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

As for posting speed, I don't expect Battlegrounds to be a super-fast role-play. It won't be a quickfire thread filled with posts one line long. That's not my style. Both posts and characters should be well detailed.

A Pokemon role-play, huh? I have to say that it sure got me interested. Of course, if you can accept a person, that didn't do anything like that before and probably will have sometimes problems with using proper grammar (English isn't my native language, you can't expect me to be perfect in it ). I still have 2 months of free time before next year at my University starts and I don't have chores of any kind to do, so at least lack of time will not be an issue here - and to be honest I always wanted to try something like this . I might get little too old if I wait any longer heh.

So here is my first try on creating character:

Name: Michael Fortune
Age: 22
Sex: Male

Appearance: Black hair, brown eyes, Caucasian. Height little over 1.80 meters. Little overweight, but nothing that bad. Wears glasses, since his visual impairment is too high to use contact lens. Usually wears a black cap, t-shirt with some kind of dragon image on it, shorts and sneakers.

Personality: Michael is quite intelligent person, however at the same time he is very lazy. People tend to see him as a complete average person not knowing that he usually puts much less effort than them into learning some skills - virtually everything is very easy for him so he didn't ever learn how to train and study hard to achieve what he needs. If an ordinary person needs a week to learn something he will do it in 15 minutes. However those 15 minutes will be most likely the last 10 minutes before the time limit ends, so he is usually being caught late and he need to rush things to get ready. He doesn't have any social skills - usually he feels bad in bigger groups and prefer to meet only a few people at the same time, doesn't really want to have "too many" friends. Typically a lone wolf, but always want to share his knowledge if he sees that someone needs help - but otherwise he will tend to keep quiet. He is more of a listener than talker. Surprisingly he usually lacks confidence to do something alone and always ask others to tell him how they would deal with a problem. He then uses those informations and finds the best way to solve the problem he is facing. Believes in sharing information as a normal thing, doesn't like people who are keeping secrets and don't help others.

Profession: Pokemon trainer with big ambitions.

Talents: Mostly multitasking, quick learning and observing skills. The more "shady" talents: Can easily manipulate other people, but he doesn't like to do it unless he sees no harm to happen. Can easily determine what a person needs to improve to get better, however he cannot do it for himself since he believes that he is too lazy to improve himself.

Anti-talents : Very bad memory to faces, keeps forgetting people's names if they're not important to him. Also he is pretty weak physically, he was always too lazy to do any major training even if he wants to become a good trainer himself.

Starter Pokemon:

Charmander. Since he just received it Michael doesn't really know how to speak to him, what should he do, how should he train him. In the end he talks a lot with more experienced trainers wanting to know how they've developed their skills. Charmander on the other hand is much more aware of the situation than his trainer and it looks like he will need a lot of patience before those two will actually learn how to rely on each other.

Sex: Male

Appearance: Allister is 5'10" weighs 130lbs and dresses casually and inconspicuously in a grey shirt complete with durable black cotton pants and jacket. He often ties his long brown hair in a ponytail to keep it out of his hazel eyes when battling or studying but otherwise is flows down to his shoulders with slight curls. He keeps his pokeballs on a gold striped black leather belt and his possessions in a travel backpack.

Personality: Allister tries to maintain a kind and friendly disposition at all times but stupidity and repetitive noises irritate him. When irritated he will try to exclude himself from the stupidity/noise that has annoyed him and if he can?t achieve this he will try to repress the anger but this often doesn't work leading to violent outbursts that often get him in trouble.
He often wishes to escape from people and reflect on his thoughts of the day's events and process any new information

Allister believes that intelligence should precede all notions of honour, loyalty and pride but he is not immune to these actions just guarded against them. When he sees a tactical or logical error he will (often obnoxiously) point it out and offer advice even when it is not wanted. When meeting new people Allister will immediately consider himself better until this is proven wrong where he will then spend the next portion of his life trying to better the person whether this is intellectually or strategically.

Profession: Pokemon Trainer and professor?s aide in training

Talents: Allister has a high level of knowledge about Pokemon (moves, abilities, weaknesses, strengths) and is trained in battle strategy.

Hometown: Jubilife City

Story: Being the only child left Allister very lonely throughout his childhood especially with his dad working all day and his mum having left early in his life. Allister grew to love and take pride in researching new ideas and concepts but his true passion was always Pokemon. As soon as he was old enough his dad sent him to Pokemon School where due to his avid research on the subject he excelled at. He found himself out smarting and beating people often 3 times his age. With continuous near perfect exam results and above average practice battles using the schools rental Pokemon Allister soon found himself at the top of the class.

Due to his success he was fast tracked into a scholarship to become a Pokemon researcher under Professor Rowan, his dream job. To finalise the scholarship all Allister needed to do was to come up with one new useful theory, discovery or stratagem and whilst he did come up with many theorems and strategies Professor Rowan deemed them all outlandish. unusable or just plain useless. The Professor critiqued Allister about his lack of real experience and connection with the real world outside of books and occasional classes and that he did not understand how humans figured into Pokemon battling, breeding and studying and until he did he could not work under him.

Distraught Allister packed up all the belonging he deemed necessary and set off in search of a Pokemon partner of his own to start his journey to show Professor Rowan just how much better he could become and one day look down upon the professor as a novice.

Trawling the town in search of a Pokemon he could catch or convince to join him Allister stumbled upon a Buneary searching through dumpster looking for food and he decided upon offering food and shelter as incentive for this Buneary to join him but when he searched his pack for the Pokemon food or even regular food to offer he discovered instead a thin layer of viscous liquid. A Lickitung had eaten his food and was in the process of running off, not wanting the opportunity to get away Allister proceeded to the nearest store and hastely spent his remaining money on foodstuffs (making certain not to buy any spicy foods) to lure the Lickitung back and hopefully gain its friendship.

He had missed his chance searching all day he could not find this Lickitung but that didn?t stop him, Allister would not let himself be beaten and reasoned to himself that this Pokemon was probably a creature of habit and would frequent the same bins again soon. It only took 3 days of continuously waiting outside the same bins for him to run into a Lickitung but he was not certain it was the same until it starts to run away at the sight of him. Chasing after it Allister edged close enough for the Lickitung to smell the remaining food he has at which point it stopped and tackled Allister over and proceeded to start eating his food. Allister snatched the bag back and proceeded to jog away from the Lickitung expecting it to follow, which it did.

It was a 3 day walk to Sandgem town and Allister had to stop every hour to feed to Lickitung to keep its interest in him and his food. The first night he set camp and did not see the Lickitung until he cooked dinner and served it a dish but it did not stay long. The second night however, after finishing off the last of the food, it slept near him in the warmth of the fire.

When he reached Sandgem town with the Lickitung in check to proceeded to Professor Rowan?s lab to show his success and surprisingly he was met with contempt from the Professor who explained that capturing a single Pokemon was not enough to earn his respect he had to go out into new places and to prove this he gave a formal invitation to travel to the Gensia region and document the differences in Pokemon, battling, gyms and people to see if he could not discover anything new and exciting first hand.

After receiving pokeballs and enough money for medicine and food for a while Professor Rowan also gave him something unexpected a Technical Machine for the move Return, Allister expected this to be a test to prove his connection to his Pokemon on his return by showing the strength of this move on his newly captured Lickitung (which he named Fry) which he was determined was going to become much stronger under his training. Allister was driven to Canalave city where he boarded the ship for the Gensia region determined to win the respect of the Professor and experience the new region.

Name: Russel Manov
Age: 21
Sex: Male

Appearance: Russel stands at about 6'02", but one could hardly tell since he is constantly slouching. He's thin, and his skin is pale, but his baggy clothes make him look a little bigger. He las long black hair that reaches past his shoulders and right above his eyes, and is horribly shaggy and messy. His overall build is pretty lanky; he's big, but it's more a matter of him being tall and his limbs being long than him being large.

He wears a black vest with pouches for pokeballs on the left side, with only one at the moment, with a dark violet short-sleeved shirt and long grey pants. He has a beige backpack and two matching brown pouches at his hips.

Personality: In the wilderness, Russel tends to be quiet and stays back, just looking around and taking in the scenery. He's relaxed, and while he doesn't actively seek out interaction with others, he's more than willing to participate in any activity. In the city, Russel is like a tourist, always wanting to go see the most interesting sights as soon as possible. He has a particular interest in cafes and diners, trying to get any of the local cuisine to go so he can sample it later. Russel enjoys training his pokemon, but only the pokemon he shows interest in, which is limited in scope. He has a tendency to be interested in Poison type Pokemon. He enjoys battling, but sees it as more an activity than steps to Pokemon Mastery.

Profession: He doesn't like to be called a trainer, more like a drifter who just happens to be accompanied by Pokemon.

Talents: Russel can work wonders with berries and herbs. While he isn't a licensed pokemon doctor, he can at least deal with status ailments and can deal with minor injuries. He can make some good, healthy (but not at all filling) meals to Pokemon, and they can be consumed by humans (they just take a little getting used to...).

Russel also can use certain herbs for more...recreational uses. And does so often. (He doesn't bring that lighter along for cooking fires...)

Starter Pokemon: Russel's first pokemon was a level 5 Gulpin he gave the nickname "Munchie". It knew the egg move Smog in the wild.

Biography: Russel originally lived in the Unova region with his parents and his brother. However, after a while, due to differences in where they wanted to go in life, Mr and Mrs Manov decided to divorce. Russel's older brother Sergei remained in Unova with his father, an accomplished breeder, while Russel moved back to his mother's hometown of Fortree in Hoenn. Russel's mother opened up a shop selling alternative medicines and offering therapeutic treatments to Pokemon.

Russel worked at the shop and as the years passed, he started tending to the shop and learned all about berries and herbs. One day, he got curious and tried some of the herbs himself. While most people would be revolted by the taste, he actually took a liking to the stuff. Despite the odd side effects.

Getting tired of how tight-fisted his mother was with money, he got the crazy idea to make his own meals and sell them to people as a get-rich-quick scheme. One day while out getting some berries to experiment with for some of his own "new health food" concoctions, he ran across a Gulpin helping himself to Russel's berries. Annoyed, he shooed the Gulpin away, but it followed him home. After feeding it a few spare berries, it left. But the next day as he went out again, it came back. It followed him when he went somewhere else, but left him alone after he fed it. This would continue for a few weeks.

However, one day, the Gulpin didn't leave. Russel kept it in his room, waiting for it to just leave one day, but it never did. It kept following him. But he came to realize he didn't mind. In fact, he had grown to like the little blob. It was nice having someone to talk to who could actually respond. So he went to the Pokemart and picked up a couple Pokeballs to try and catch it. And catch it he did. Calling the little guy "Munchie", he decided to take him home for real this time.

A few years passed and the pair went all around the Hoenn region for jobs for the shop, getting to see all over. This gave Russel a craving to see the world. When he turned twenty, he had managed to save up enough money from working to get a ticket to the Gensia region. Name: Eurydice (pronounced You-ree-die-chii) Anania
Age: 14
Sex: Female

Appearance: Eurydice is a pretty Caucasian girl with snow white curls and deep blue eyes. Her hair color is genetic: most of the women on her mother's side of the family also have premature graying. She almost always wears her hair down, which reaches her shoulder blades. She is of average height and weight for a 14 year old girl, just about 5'2", and 100 pounds. Her skin is a light brown, with a few patches of freckles.

She normally wears a variety of dresses, the only common factor between them the length (knee-length) and lack of sleeves. She wears dark stockings, and black boots.
Personality: Eurydice has progressive mutism. She hasn't spoken a word since she turned 10, to her parents, to her friends, or to strangers. Occasionally, her guardians thought they heard her talking to her Pokemon, but they've never been able to confirm it. Although she doesn't speak, Eurydice is friendly to most people, if not a little shy. She communicates via a small whiteboard, or a sketchpad, and even then only in short sentences or words.

Despite appearances, Eurydice is very intelligent. She's already graduated high school with top marks.

Talents: Eurydice is skilled in Pokemon biology and technology. She is a talented artist, and often sketches Pokemon that catch her eye. She's also a good swimmer.

Hometown: The Sevii Islands (Knot Island) of Kanto

Biography: Eurydice's parents are both employed by Silph Co. They live in Saffron City, miles away from the Islands. At first, they tried to raise Eurydice with them, but realized that they couldn't be there for her and their jobs at the same time. Instead, they sent her to her uncle and aunt in the Sevii islands before she was out of diapers.

Her uncle works as a geologist on Mt. Ember, and her aunt, Mimi, is a Pokemon researcher, specializing in water Pokemon. They constantly encouraged her to read and learn, recognizing her potential at an early age. She was homeschooled by her aunt for a while, before being enrolled in a private high school in Saffron City at 10. Every summer she returned to the Sevii Islands. It was her home: she didn't like the option of staying in her parents' empty apartment all the time. She'd miss the gold sand and sapphire waters of the beaches. Towards the end of her senior year, Eurydice was offered an internship at Silph Co. with her parents. It was there that she became fascinated with technology and its relationship with Pokemon, like pokeballs. She graduated at 14, with honors, and a 4.5.

Her guardians were obviously worried when she stopped talking. It was a few months before she was registered for school. They had no idea what caused it, and brought her to several doctors and therapists, but no one could make her talk. Despite everything they continued to provide for her the best they could, continuing to teach her and provide her with books to read. It was her uncle that brought home a small Ponyta one day. It had fallen into one of the hot springs, severely weakened by the water. Eurydice and the Ponyta had an instant connection, becoming the best of friends. Eurydice took to riding the Ponyta along the beach, sitting backwards as she sketched the various Pokemon that popped out of the water, or that the trainers used to battle.

Like most of the young people on the island, Eurydice wanted to travel and see the world. Originally, she was going to leave the Ponyta at home, but her guardians would have none of it, especially since she was traveling by herself at such a young age. They wrote to her parents, who gave their blessing, and some money for supplies. A month later, Eurydice was on her way to Gensia.

Personality:Dani was a normal young girl, happy and joyful until the incident. After, she was shy and quiet to most people, only openly laughing and playing with her Duskull. She is nice and once you get to know her, opens up to the you.


Profession: Trainer
Talents: Dani can survive off the land and can communicate with her duskull without fail. they each understand one another like they were sisters. Her voice can also calm pokemon and people alike.

Hometown: A house off of route 209 in Sinnoh that she grew up in until she was 6 and it burned down.

Biography: Dani was a happy girl, living with her mother and father. Life was good as she would go outside and play with some of the pokemon around her house. She'd venture into the woods and Explore, pretending to be a pokemon master. She had friends that would come over and play with her and her family was successful. The lived in a not-too-large house and not too far away from civilization.

This was until her sixth birthday. Her mom dropped the cake and it's candles caught a curtain on fire. Her father put it out, or so he thought and her day went on happily. Dani was tucked in by her mother and father and they fell asleep for the night.

Dani awoke to the smell of something. It smelled like a fire type had just used a move and it was hot in her room. She walked to the door and felt it with the back of her hand, feeling that it was extremely warm. Running to her window, she opened it and looked down. There were vines growing on the side of her house and she climbed over the window sill, then down the side. all of the days of playing in the forest.

The girl ran away from her house to the edge of the forest. AS the house burst into flames, she called for her mother and father, but as the side of the house collapsed onto the rest of the crumbled ashes, Dani knew her parents weren't coming. She broke down and began to cry.

The crying drew some attention, having woken up some pokemon and attracted others that were already awake. However, one pokemon was disturbed from its unnatural slumber by her crying. Out of the darkness came a duskull, a curious one that examined her as she drifted off into her sleep, tears still coming from her eyes.

This happened over the next few nights and on the fourth one, The duskull made its presence know by coming to her under the light of a full moon. Dani wasn't afraid of the ghost type because she had already seen the house she had lived in for her entire life and her parents, crumble away before her eyes.

Luna approached the girl with curiosity, wondering why she was still crying. Dani let The duskull approach her, it looked kind of silly. Luna got to within inches of Dani's face, then gave it a lick. The girl giggled from it and Luna gave her face another, enjoying the taste of her tears. This kept happening until Dani was on the ground, laughing so hard she was crying tears of joy.

After she couldn't cry anymore, she looked at the Duskull and held her above her head, looking at Luna. "You're funny." she said and noticed the full moon. "I'll call you Luna." Their relationship after that night improved over time. Luna would come out and play at night with Dani and they'd sleep in the day.

Over the years, she got other pokemon to teach Dani how to survive in the wild. She eventually got Luna pokeball with the money she had found in the forest. Dani had had a habit of humming to herself allot, one night, she decided to add words and began to sing. Luna loved her voice and would sit with her for hours, just listening to her sing about anything. Her voice was haunting, yet beautiful. It almost seemed like it could touch the depths of someone's soul.

One day, someone was walking through the forest around dusk and heard her singing. He couldn't find her, but word of her singing soon spread and people would go out on nights listening for the girl. Luna enjoyed her singing and the soothing feeling. She would quickly fall asleep in the arms of Dani, many a night this way.

Double digit years (10+):

Dani however, began venturing out into the human world more often. One of these trips, when she was ten, brought her to jubilife and the stores there. In one of the windows, she saw a black dress that she and Luna fell in love with. It looked like a colonial dress, but was black with white ruffles. She asked around on how to get money and was introduced to trainers and battling.

Dani soon registered and bean going around battling. After a couple of days, she and Luna had beaten enough people to get herself the dress and the rest of her outfit. She did this and kept on getting things, such as the poketech she has with her and the rest of her bag. Through all of the battling, Dani and Luna grew closer and understood each other more than ever.

When she would sing, people would be amazed at her voice be reminded and swamp her with the legend. Dani put up with this until she was sixteen and decided she had enough of the region. With nothing tethering her down to the region, she went a bought a ticket on a boat leaving to anywhere. That ticket just happened to be to Gensia. She hopes to start anew and train with her Duskull to be something better than now.

Name: Joshua Morrow

Age: 19

Sex: Male

Appearance: Joshua stands 5'7 with a lean runner's build. He has a deep, strong tan and a scruffy, thin beard that covers his chin and runs up to connect to a mustache. He has light grey eyes interspersed with green and mid neck length shaggy black hair that is more often then not hidden under a black and green baseball hat he has had since he first became a teenager. He prefers light clothing that is both comfortable and easy to move around for ease of travel and carries a weathered red travel pack slung over one shoulder. He wears a hunting knife sheathed at his belt that runs down his right leg and wears a loose fitting orange shirt and black pants.

Personality: Joshua is very amicable and friendly to those around, quick to start conversations and attempt to spark happiness in people. He tends to hyperfocus when he finds something that interests him to the point of getting a little spacy and losing sight of what is going on around in favor of giving the object of his attention his all. This extends to his battling helping him think on the fly when things can go south in the heat of battle.

On the flipside of this, he tends to pay little attention to things that he finds boring or tedious.

Joshua also has a huge love for pokemon, dark types in particular and will often attempt to learn all he can about a new one when he meets it. His goal for his journey is to get good enough to take the pokemon league challenge

Profession: Pokemon Trainer

Talents: Joshua is a fairly decent hand in battle. He also is well versed in traveling having been moving across the regions since he turned sixteen. He is quite fit and able to go for long periods of traveling and hiking without much rest and has enough knowledge to be able to properly forage for or catch food if need be.

Starter Pokémon: Skorupi. It's moves are Bite, Poison Sting, Knock Off, and Leer. It's name is Dirge and it's ability is Battle Armor

Biography: Joshua lived a fairly typical life, born into a loving family and raised well. He went through Pokemon trainers school coasting through with marginal grades exceeding only at battling and pokemon studies. At 12 he caught his first pokemon, Dirge, his Skorupi. After that, he began spending less time at school, routinely turning up absent or late to spend time with his pokemon as much as he could.

By fifteen he had actively trying to convince his parents to let him leave school so that he could go on his own pokemon journey, to achieve his dream. After nearly a year of wheedling and begging, his parents finally relented and let him go on the condition that he waited until he turned sixteen. Ecstatic, he began counting down the days and making plans of what to do until the fateful day finally came.

Setting of, his plans to challenge the gyms of sinnoh quickly hit several snags as he found himself lost in the huge world around him. Moving across sinnoh and eventually parts of hoenn, he found himself comfortable in the nature around him and with the pokemon he came across. Three years passed as he traveled around the regions battling, meeting new pokemon and making quick friends with the people that he met and shared with.

At nineteen, he found himself back in Sinnoh, unsure of which area he should explore next and wear he would try his hand at his dream. In a pokemon center one night, he found himself caught up in a broadcast of newly formed Gensia Elite four. Enraptured by the power and skill of the trainers and pokemon that he saw, he made up his mind and after working and battling to make enough money, he hopped the first ship that could take him to this largely unknown land of unique pokemon.

Apologies. I'm an avid knife collector and the length of a knife is measured from haft to tip for me. The actual blade of the knife is only five inches long with the other four coming up in the grip.

As for why my character has it? It serves multiple purposes: Skinning tool, to cut tinder to prepare a fire, to be used a potential source for ignition for said fire, and if all else fails a self defense tool.

In my case he needs them to create firewood out of branches, and to eat with (the swiss one only), among other utilities. He would not use them as a weapon, though.

Ok, Here is an updated version of the character I'm working on. Since I'm new to this kind of entertainment, please tell me if I'm doing it right and do I have any chance to actually be accepted, if it's not a problem of course.

Name: Michael Fortune
Age: 22
Sex: Male

Appearance: Black hair, brown eyes, Caucasian. Height little over 1.80 meters. Little overweight, but nothing that bad. Wears glasses, since his visual impairment is too high to use contact lens. Usually wears a black cap, t-shirt with some kind of dragon image on it, shorts and sneakers.

Personality: Michael is quite intelligent person, however at the same time he is very lazy. People tend to see him as a complete average person not knowing that he usually puts much less effort than them into learning some skills - virtually everything is very easy for him so he didn't ever learn how to train and study hard to achieve what he needs. If an ordinary person needs a week to learn something he will do it in 15 minutes. However those 15 minutes will be most likely the last 10 minutes before the time limit ends, so he is usually being caught late and he need to rush things to get ready. He doesn't have any social skills - usually he feels bad in bigger groups and prefer to meet only a few people at the same time, doesn't really want to have "too many" friends. Typically a lone wolf, but always want to share his knowledge if he sees that someone needs help - but otherwise he will tend to keep quiet. He is more of a listener than talker. Surprisingly he usually lacks confidence to do something alone and always ask others to tell him how they would deal with a problem. He then uses those informations and finds the best way to solve the problem he is facing. Believes in sharing information as a normal thing, doesn't like people who are keeping secrets and don't help others.

Profession: Pokemon trainer with big ambitions.

Talents: Mostly multitasking, quick learning and observing skills. The more "shady" talents: Can easily manipulate other people, but he doesn't like to do it unless he sees no harm to happen. Can easily determine what a person needs to improve to get better, however he cannot do it for himself since he believes that he is too lazy to improve himself.

Anti-talents : Very bad memory to faces, keeps forgetting people's names if they're not important to him. Also he is pretty weak physically, he was always too lazy to do any major training even if he wants to become a good trainer himself.

Starter Pokemon:

Charmander. Since he just received him from Aquamar City professor Michael doesn't really know how to speak or act towards him, what should he do, how should he train him. In the end he talks a lot with more experienced trainers wanting to know how they've developed their skills. Charmander on the other hand is much more aware of the situation than his trainer and it looks like he will need a lot of patience before those two will actually learn how to rely on each other.

Michael's life was pretty average and at beginning he didn't really want to become a trainer. He didn't have many friends, but he didn't really care since he knew that in the future he will most likely end up living in a different city where he will go to study. And thats what happened - he went to other city (lets say Topasa City) to study Computer Science. He was quite successful on first term but then something happened that forced him to leave the studies and come back to home. His parents divorced - father left his mother to live with a different woman, and that event took a big hit on health of his mother. Knowing that his mother needs him to recover from the shock and depression he had to resign from any kinds of studies abroad. After some time his mother started to gradually feel better, on the other hand Michael was getting into bigger and bigger depression - he was lonely, all of his previous friends went to study to different cities, on the same time the he didn't really connect with the colleagues from Topasa city, so he didn't really had anyone to talk to, and due to feeling of loosing the chance to become someone really great he lost all of the ambitions to become a scientist or someone similiar. He knew that his mother needs him so he always pretended to be strong and show her that she still can have a good life. After about a year, when his mother fully recovered he saw a touching scene between a trainer and his Pokemon. He become more interested in pokemon training, started to read a lot about it and decided that its an activity that he might really like and what actually could bring him back to the world. And while he is already on it, why don't he try to become the best trainer in the world?
