Be Honest, what did you think of QTE's when you first encountered it?

i have nothing against QTEs, as long as its not those where you have to spin the control sticks in a certain direction. fuck you, Cleopatra, you horny ****...

I still don't give a damn what he says; the reviews are for fun anyway, not to be taken seriously. I like some QTEs, like the ones in boss fights where you still have a challenge because you have to 'unlock' them each time.

I don't remember the first game I played a QTE, but I like them. I like the killing QTE's like in Viking: Battle for Asgard - nothing like stomping a person's face in.
Oh, MAN. I *loved* that game...

I don't remember playing games where QTEs were much of an issue, the only ones I really remember were in God of War, and those were only when you were finishing off a boss or whatever so they fit pretty well.

I believe the first game I played that had them in was Tomb Raider: Legend. It didn't really bother me, but they were frustrating at times, but I found them more amusing than anything else, as I would purposely get them wrong to see Lara get her head smashed by a falling 10 inch thick steel door.

You don't get comedy like THAT anymore.
oh, but you do. it was quite funny against Cerberus in Dantes Inferno. purposely failing the decapitation QTE to see Dante jump straight into a pool of boiling feces. that was so hilarious.

The first time i could think of was Spider man 3. i liked it back then because it seemed like a good idea since Spider man has superhuman reflexes. it is the only game i can think of where they make sense

Okay, Dragon's Lair and other FMV Games (and the like) don't really count. "Quick Time Event" suggests that it's just a quick event that comes in between other kinds of gameplay.
Does anybody actually believe this besides you? :V
It's roughly the equivalent of referring to a movie as a cutscene.

First one was god of war, and then half way through the game it lost its charm.

Mainly because I had to hook up a modded controller so I can tap the button that freaken fast.

First game that I played with them was RE4 and I thought it was brilliant. Really helped add to the tension and made the game thoroughly interesting. I think nowadays they are far too over-used and the novelty is running out for me. Used properly and in moderation they are fantastic but shouln't be relied on to make a game decent.

The first game I played that had QTE in it was Dark Cloud (awesome game, back then, at least) and I thought it was pretty cool. I don;t realy remember how they worked, but I think it's something like how God of War uses it (either you do a QTE and kill the enemy instantly with proper timing, or you just hack away and kill them the boring way).

I too am fine with QTE's. Sometimes certain games go overboard with them, but I am like you: I played RE4 and that was my first encounter with them. I thought they were a good way to make the scenes more tense and more involving with the player instead of just watching a movie. I say that QTE's are a good thing IN MODERATION, but I guess that's true for most things, no?

First came across a QTE in Resident Evil 4 on the GC. I thought they were ok on any level that wasn't the hardest which would require tapping so fast that you were sure to get carpal tunnel syndrome.

My first encounter's thoughts? *reloads* "Err, ok, guess I should've mashed faster."

I don't like 'em all that much, since it's watching a cinematic essentially, only one where you continually have to push Play. They're fine in small doses, but they rarely ever happen in small doses. Either a game is chock full of them, or it doesn't have any.

teh only problem I have with thenm is when it's a random key. In normal gameplay my button to jump doesn't change, how come my button to not die switches?

I think that my first was in Dark Cloud. I remember liking it, and don't particularly dislike them now.
Somehow I think that I managed to get stuck on it, and not understand it, or something...

I love it, from the first kicked ball in Shenmue, loved it!

I only wish there was an entire game of QTEs when you make a lady take off her lady-panties and have a wee... yes!
