Be Honest, what did you think of QTE's when you first encountered it?

The first time I encountered them was in God of War. I remember it was a the part with the two lesbos and I had to do the QTE to sleep with them. The QTE was pretty long but it was SO worth it...

I like them when they're done well. (You don't die 90% of the time. Instead, the story continues and you have to find another path).

I dont remember my first QTE, all i know is that i failed it.

In general i dont like QTEs since they usualy break the flow of gameplay, however the one at the end of MW2 was very well done, say what you will about the game, that ending was epic.

Ok so I was playing God of War and as I finish off a boss, the first QTE I had ever seen pops up. My reaction: "Oh ok, so I just press the buttons when they appear, that seems like an interesting idea."

Of course now I think, it CAN be a good idea. But it depends on the game and how frequently they're used in that game.
Example:
God of War = good
Star Wars The Force Unleashed = bad

I love emm... I Love quick time events. And they make sence in games like god of war which are largly hack and slash. QTEs go well with games like.

All though i do agree with zero punctuation in that they should either be a core part of the game... or left out completly

god of war. I wondered if they creators thought mashing x to open a door was more immersive than just pressing X. it really bugged me because I could NEVER kill the minotaurs like that and my hand would cramp up. wait that's not really a quick time event. I didn't really mind it that much but it did bug me. I was just more concerned with the mashing.

Well, my firstever encounter with them was in God of War 1 on PS2, and as of back then, my being brand new to the whole game and all I was still not used to it and was caught VERY off guard by it, but at the same time was like "um . . . wow . . . I'm . . . I'm MAKING him do that . . . I'm MAKING him pull that thing's eye out of . . . wow"

My first reaction was:

"Awesome, cutscene time! I'm gonna go grab me a soda!"

30 seconds later I come back to a "Game Over" screen.

"FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!"

In game, they are a good measure of reaction time, when in a cutscene... uuuhg... No, just no.

My first encounter with them was in RE4. Technically, it was Legend of Dragoon, but seeing as I wasn't actually good enough to get anywhere in that game at the time, I call moot.

Anyway, I thought they were actually pretty well-done. The game I played after that was God of War, in which the QTEs actually helped to take me out of the experience. Go figure.
