Becoming A Schoolhouse Vigilante: My Moral Dilemma.

I'm not exactly sure how to state this, but I need some advice, Escapist.

There's this kid who really needs to be taught a lesson. Now before you write this off as teenage angst BS, let me explain. This kid constantly belittles the teachers at the school, interupting them, insulting them to the point of calling one a ****, and can get away with this because school rules state that as long as a student isn't seen(just seen,never mind heard) by a teacher doing this, they get off scot-free.

None of the teachers deserve it, as most of them are just doing they're jobs, nor do the students he constantly berates. And the worse thing is, he does this for fun. he's the very definition of Schadenfreude.

He's been sent to the counselor, but trying to talk to this only makes him belittle you more.
Now normally i'm a very reserved person, but something happened a couple days ago that really made me realize how bad our punishment system is.

We were at the last period of the day, math, when i see him pull out this black thing. He loaded it onto a rubber band, and shot it crossbow style into a girl's side. The teacher was out of the room printing copies, and when the teacher got back to the room, she saw a bunch of students gathered around the girl's desk consoling her.

The black thing was a sharpened pen cap, it penetrated her skin about an inch. the teacher, instead of sending him to the principal, tells him to apologize and sends him out of the room. Not only did he not get detention, he got to SKIP THE LESSON. This pissed me off to no extent, as i'm a very chivalrious person, and as far as i'm concerned, you should never hit a women unless she throws the first punch.


Now I know this seems like something i should put on Twitter or something, but thats as good as asking a lizard to diagram a sentence.

So, my fellow Escapists, what would you do?

Do whatever you believe is right, I belive he needs to be done to him. I can condone any not lethal action, but just be sure what you are getting into...thats all im saying, if thats how you think you can make the world a better place do it!

But just remember he will have friends that may or may not want to get at you too.

I am not chivalrious, but I suggest you beat the hell out of that kid. Just be aware he may have friends, which may mean you'll have to deal with people other than him.

Nice to see someone who wants to do something about it too, too many people (including myself) just sat there and did nothing. I also like your moral thing, "you should never hit a women unless she throws the first punch" as i think not hitting women is taken too far.

You got a camera phone? Record it, show it round to teachers, family, family's of your friends, get him kicked out. My only real other suggestion, is make an official complaint, get a bunch of friends, get them to help out too (the more people, the more seriously it's likely to be taken), say that you're worried for the safety of yourself, and other students (or something similar) and hope they do something, if necessary, get parents involved, they always care for the safety of their children.

With more panache than that. I recommend going for a single jab to the throat or solar plexus. It hurts to hit people in the face. Or you could stab him with a really sharp pencil a few times.

If you're not up for that kind of violence, photos/video or whatever and take it to the principal.

I wasn't with you until the girl thing. I know lots of kids who interrupt class, I do it now and then and I can name several occasions where I've called some teachers bad things behind their backs, it's just something that goes on. Yes the punishment system is screwed up and is more or less up to the discretion of the teacher so when he/she isn't there administering punishment gets a bit tricky. Then you told me about him attacking a girl, not some playful stuff either, that guy is a grade a douche. While I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to advocate violence I really do think this guy would benefit from an ass whooping, just saying.

I suggest shanking him repeatedly in the middle of a crowded hallway. Not only will he be seriously injured but he will be highly embarassed.

Ok, so maybe you aren't going to shank him and risk getting put in jail. But if you do do something (which I suggest you do), I suggest you do it in public so you also get the embarassment factor in.

But in all seriousness, while violence can be used for good (man was V an awesome movie), I know this is a terrible cliche, but violence should be your last resort, I mean there must be some way you can give this rat what he has coming with resorting to blows, but if it does, wrap him up in the clinch and land a few knees to his sides. Some people just don't learn until they get knocked on their rears.

Seriously though, i would've smacked him by now. Get pictures or vid, god knows every damn phone has some sort of camera installed on it these days, and show it to parents and teacher, that evidence could get him kicked from the school, and hopefully sectioned too.

If that DOESN'T work here is what you do.

Get a bat and ski mask and follow him .Come up behind him, hit him in the back of the knees and hit him a few more times, tell him to stop fucking around in a Batman style voice.Then ditch the mask and bat(remember to whip it of finger marks) and carry on like nothing ever happened. Also get a friend (someone who won't rat you out)to make up an alibi.I also be smart not to wear the same cloths as when you beat him up for awhile ,or just use very common clothes.

The fundamental flaw of all child psychology pertaining to bullies is that it works under the premise that bullies are working under a coherent logic that can be reasoned with. There's no logic to bullying people; it's like you said, he just enjoys the suffering of others. This is the kind of ethical stalemate that allows serial killers and power-mad dictators to flourish in the age of reason.

When I first read your post, my knee-jerk reaction was: "Beat the **** out of him and knock some sense into the little monster!" but then chances are that's probably going to give him exactly what he wants. If trying to reason with him and talk to him just fuels his fire, imagine what coming down to his level might do.
Then again....
Some people are so introverted, so wrapped up in their own little joys, the only thing that will jar their sense of reality is a wake up call in the form of... well, back to the knee-jerk. I've been bullied enough times to know that fighting doesn't really solve anything (levels and coming down to them and such), but then again, if this guy thinks he's better than everyone else and practically lives outside reality in his own little mind-kingdom of natural immunity to the pain of others, then maybe it's time to storm the castle.

My other suggestion is to go around to all the people he belittles and picks on, and get them all to sign a petition. The aim of the petition can be for him to get suspended, transferred, expelled, or really just anything. Gather all the signatures and present them to the principal. If you're going to do then, then what you absolutely must do more than anything is: while you're presenting it to the principal, simultaneously give a copy of the petition to someone in the administration, above the principal that is. That way, if the principal doesn't act, orders from on high might pervail in the end.

Hitting or kicking in the kidney area leaves no bruises, but hurts like hell, or so i've heard.
Just talk with everyone who is on "your side" in class and everyone else who think he's an asshole, and agree on freezing him out or calling him an ass-hole whenever he does stupid stuff.
The main reason most people don't act up is because they're afraid of beeing singled out and made fun of, but if you're many, standing up is easy, and when he's outnumbered he won't fell tough anymore.
