I'd tell you if I could spell it. It's one of those ones with about a million H's, and Q's and Batman symbols and whatnot.

My father wanted to name me Xerxes (he is a history teacher), but my mom refused so they named me Peyton. And before anyone asks thhis was long before anyone had ever heard of Peyton Manning, I was named after the town I was born in.

Jamie-Lee.
A nice ambiguous name.
I wish I'd been called that.

Sadly, I ended up with Danielle-Grace.

My parents were going to call me Qin, but my grandmother couldn't English that well and she would say Queen. I thank my parents for not naming me Qin because I would be made fun of from not only others, but my grandmother as well. She was not very nice and loved too scare me.

I was going to be [saying in a really high pitched & annoying voice ] Rose Emily or Emily Rose.
*shudders*

But either way, I was given a name I hate so I prefer going by my pen name, Soren Alenko.
My little sisters name is Emily Rose, she loves it.

For my five first minutes of life my name was John and my middle name was Matthew. Then when my mother got the birth certificate she was so high on painkillers she put my name as Matthew John...and that is how I got my name.

I was always going to be a Daniel, but if I was a girl, they were going to name me Rebbecca. I'm cool with either.

Orginally i was called Nicholas until Nov 12 when my birth mom gave me up. My parents gave me the name Patrick and shifted my middle name to Nicholas to Honour my birth moms memory of me. I still haven't found her and i hate my middle name for reminding me of her but love it because thats what she called me.

Other possiblties included Alexander(the great...no seriously), Dartain(WTF, cool but wtf all the same)

My parents were kind of hippies so they were going to go with something obscure like Moses or Jonah... why biblical I have no clue. They even talkked about giving me a super hippy name like Moonbeam or Starfire....or something like that.

If I was a girl they were going to name me Jessica.

I'm glad they went with Daniel.

I'm kinda suprised at how many people in this thread nearly ended up being called 'Zack' or variations thereof.

I am not one of them; I actually ended up named Zachary. And it made me who I am today no doubt... not a jerk as someone proposed. Just a lazy, lazy geek heh. I think having a 'wierder' name certainly sent me down a different path than if I'd had something more generic.

On the other hand, my Dad wanted to call me Romeo... and that potential existance is horrifying, way worse than what I've been through with this name. As if being forced to read Romeo and Juliet in school wasn't bad enough to start with...

My parents were going with Jack or Karen (boy, girl, respectively). I ended up a male so Jack is my name. Although I think I would have liked Karen until I learned that I was named after my aunt.

if I could go back I'd probably go with Van, since all my friends call me that anyway and I think its a pretty cool name.
The question is, if you started being named that would you still like Van or want to be called Kris (or something).

As much as I'd like Van, I still find it cool to be named after a cool looking dagger (though that wasn't my parents intentions) so maybe I wouldn't change a thing.
