Best: James and Mary from Silent Hill 2 (Don't ask me why)
Worst: Shepherd and Miranda from Mass Effect 2. I'm sorry, i just hate Miranda, mainly because she's a Mary Sue.

1-Tidus&Yuna
2-Snow&Serah
3-Squall&Rinoa
4-Sly Cooper&Carmelita
5-Dom&Maria
6-Wander&dead girlfriend
8-Ethan&Madison
9-Raiden&Rose

Worst
Any mass effect love scene it feels so awkward same with fable games as well.
Really?? Mass effect seems awkward to you but Snow/Serah doesn't? To each is own but I just found Serah a walking cliché to the point you could probably replace her with Yuna and the two are so badly characterized that it wouldn't make much difference.
I have to admit to having a soft spot for Squall/Rinoa though, yeh its got problems but I think the lack of voice acting helps to make to it feel like a trashy romance novel.

Best is one you influence between the PC and a team member (Or another well developed character in game) yes that is just a massive thumbs up to how Bioware do romance. But the romance isn't forced, and it's with a character you want (most of the time).

Worst is a forced relationship with a annoying character or one that rarley appears, especailly if they go from banter between missions to a sappy parting at the end of the game seemingly from no-where....Lucas, you cannot write a damned romance, please stop before geeks everywhere just vomit.

Valkyria Chronicles: Welkin and Alicia
snip.
While I do agree with you on some points, (some scenes were pretty groan inducing) I just have to say what really made me put that particular couple was this scene mostly:

This is the first time I've ever seen the protagonist propose to the female lead in a game before. And not at the very end of the game either. Say what you want about it, I was blown away by this scene. If there was ever a narrative motivation for you to finish the game, this was it. At least for me it was.

BEST
-Alistair in Dragon Age -- some of the endings were just heartbreaking. Actually, I think pretty much all of the romance options in DA were really well done. Even Zev, who was probably mostly in it for the sex.
-Thane's romance in ME2 was cute, but I just personally don't like him. I gave up when he started crying.
-DOM AND MARIAAAA
Benny in Fallout: New Vegas. Just...hilarious.

WORST
-Jacob Taylor in ME2
-Casavir in Neverwinter Nights 2
-I like Kaidan's character and everything in ME1, planning to be loyal through ME2 and 3, etc, but now that I think about it, his romance thing wasn't really the best ever. It was just kind of like, *flirtflirtflirtflirtOHNOVIRMIREflirt* and then they fall in love. It's been a while since I've played ME1, but the line between the casual-camaraderie-flirting and actual love wasn't very clear.
-Any relationship in Fable. Ugh.

Worst:
- Pretty much every j"RPG" seems awkward to me.
- Jacob Taylor in ME2
- Elanee in NWN2
You know the old "Quoted For Truth"? The good old "QFT"?

I've not flipped through the other three pages, but I am very pleased to see Planescape: Torment on your "best" here. Very please.

I cannot praise that romance highly enough. The only time a romance felt somewhat human to me.

For me, the worst:
Every other romance.

Best: CJ and that chick that lets you spawn with all your weapons when you get sent to the hospital. I could really feel a connection between the two when I never called her and avoided her like the plague so she couldn't break up with me. I thought about her every time I jumped out of an airplane and forgot to deploy my parachute.

Fable 3. Im sorry that girl at the start. The kiss just seems... to "Stiff"? If thats even appropriate to say. It seem'd to unreal. Like hey... the game just started... kiss this girl and get emotionally attached in 10 mins then we will decided her fate. She also hates you for this. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...

Then I slam the door in the face of fable three and put in the window "FAIL"

Thats the worst. I can't think of a good one.
you obviously havn't played the part when she comes back if u save her, shes happy you saved her, just had to point that out

Did.

"Like hey... the game just started... kiss this girl and get emotionally attached in 10 mins then we will decided her fate"

Reason why I let her go with the guy.^ not enough time to be emotionality attached.

Best? probably one of the ones from Mass Effect 2... I liked Thane's the best...<.<

Worst? Persona 4... here's all it is...

"Hey you wanna be my girlfriend?"
"D'okay."

...that's about it... but it has no build up and just feels completely shoe horned in, not to mention the fact that doesn't affect anything not even the occasional dialogue... it can hardly be called a romantic subplot...<.<

For srs. Only a romantically impaired blockhead like Sora would go and defeat not one, but TWO universe-threatening forces to reunite with his love interest, and, when finally together again, think "for this, I shall shake your hand".
I know, right? :p
I mean, I get that it's Disney but... can they no longer even have kissing in their films or games anymore? >>
I think this has more to do with Square Enix and Japan in general.

Watch any anime rom com and the only pay-off you get in the end is the boy and girl eating ice cream together or holding hands. You hardly ever see anyone in an anime or Japanese game seriously snog to consummate their love.

Best romance: The Prince and Farah from Sands of Time.

Worst Romance: Bioware romances.
I actually liked the fact that in games like Persona 3 there was nothing beyond a hug or a kiss. I dated the character because I liked them, not to see some cheesy 3-d animation of sex. It ruined the Tali romance for me.

Best: Viconia in Baldurs Gate II.

Worst: ........ Either Aerie from Baldurs Gate II (well, more ToB because of the "pregnancy"), or possibly any "romance" (read: 2 brief conversations, an 'are you sure diclaimer', and then a tame quickie before the end game) from Mass Effect 2.

agreed, I got really attached to Jackie as a character, and the relationship between him and his girlfriend founded a lot of that attachment.
