There's an immense anime fandom over the net and many seem to be up to date with what new serieses there are. I wonder do you actually buy lots of DVD sets or do you rent them regularly or do you watch them on streaming?

For me, it has to be One Piece. Once your head stops asploding, its an excellent mix of action, tragedy, and comedy.
Soul Eater would take second place for similiar levels of WIN. see my Avatar for more.
However, I haven't seen every animé ever, so once i start watching Tengen Toppenn Gurenn Lagann (Phew) Maybe my opinion will change.

Code Geass. I hate to say this, but I pretty much just won.
Pfftt... Bwaahahahaha!

No.

Geass was okay, but the first season was very hit and miss in execution, and the second was, frankly, a trainwreck of abysmal pacing and hastily abandoned and redone plots.

So, y'know, if sub-Gundam mecha action is all it takes to make you think you won, I'd hate to see the mess after you saw something like Macross Frontier.
Well firstly, I think your taking the Joke alittle to seriously. Secondly, I don't believe I ever said mecha action is the sole reason I won, so please don't put words in my mouth. And lastly, this is more of an opinionative thing.

Its got everything you could ask for from a anime <3
This. I also like Death Note and FLCL quite a bit, but Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is just.. so awesome that it's beyond comprehension.
WHO THE HELL DO U THINK WE ARE...
I don't think anything can top a fight where two mechs are throwing galaxys like frizbys.

City Hunter and Hareluya Boy.

Both animes are very oldskool (City Hunter- I think started in the late 80's, Hareluya Boy probably somewhere in the early 90's) - they don't make anime like they used to these days. Plus- virtually every anime mentioned before me are distributed by Madman (their selection is a bit pop-y) - their range isn't very comprehensive, but meh.

I win. :p

Haven't seen enough, though I'm hungry for more at this stage. Full metal alchemist is the best all round animé i've seen, and season 1 death note kicks serious ass, that is until
L dies
and it gets boring as hell. Endings pretty good though. Darker than black was amazing too, though i haven't seen the second season. Elfen Lied pretty much got me into animé in general (who i showed to my friend, who finds all other good animé for me now, woo!) and it a masterful series. Also, it's the only one i've watched the sub of, the rest are all dubs; I'm uncultured like that. :p

OT: first 25 episodes of death note are the best anime of all time. Well-written, good voiceacting, interesting characters, amazing soundtrack, great directing but seriously, just the writing kicks everything else out the window.
I've won... Exactly as planned...
I mean, God damn that was an epic arc...
