I know they're just your opinions but I've gotta say some of your winners(as well as some nominee's) left me scratching my head, but while some were WTF, others I thought were extremely awesome(Let the Right one in) and in other cases(comic book adaptation) I thought it a shame that you could only have one winner

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Inglorious Bastards as the film of the decade?! HAHAHHAAHHAA Seriously, this is a wonderful piece of irony. This isn't so much a review as it is a statement of your favourite films, and particular favourite amongst those. Also, your lists and categories make little sense. Memento is a "WTF" film (which isn't a genre) yet Mullholland Drive is merely a drama? As a review of the decade, this is very poor. As a statement of your favourite films it is 'meh', you've just about given reasons for your choices.
You don't have to be a prick about it.

And isn't that what all reviews are? Just stating why you like something?

I've seen A.I many years ago as well, if it's the one with the robot boy who sortof wants to be a real boy or something, I don't remember it very clearly.

Just to know if i've gotten you right, would you consider matrix (the first one, think especially about cyphers betrayal/motiation and the red/blue pill) a wtf movie as well? how bout fight club?
Yeah, that's the one. Its got Haley Joel Osment (kid from the Sixth Sense) as the robot boy who reads Pinocchio and wants to become real so he goes on an adventure to find the "blue fairy" from Pinocchio.

Fun Fact: Stanley Kubrick was originally supposed to make AI, but it was delayed too many times and he didn't make it before his death, so he passed it on to Steven Speilberg.

And as for the matrix thing, sort of. Its not really a wtf movie because everything is explained pretty fairly quickly (with the exception of certain things) and it actually makes sense (but I didn't like the Matrix) and as for Fight Club, yes that would be sort of a wtf movie because of the twist ending, but it has to be something that is just weird from start to finish. Watch Memento and Eternal Sunshine and you'll know what I mean by wtf movie.
Okay, i think i may have memento (or something with a simmilar name) on my HD, if i've got it i'll check it out.

Which winners exactly left you confused, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm just looking for constructive criticism

I have little to say other than, why on Earth is Up not listed in the animated section. Granted, I havn't seen most the other nominations, but its Up, that movie invoked emotions that most live action movies try and fail to.

Well I'll disagree on the Sci-fi. I thought District 9 was better as a whole. The others are fair though, Hot Fuzz being in my 'favourite-movie' top 3. Nice job!

I don't agree with the comedies, but everything else is ok. My list is similar.

I've seen about 90% of the movies on this list, and it just struck me what an incredibly awesome decade this was for film - I don't necessarily agree with all your "best" picks, but I do find myself in agreement with pretty much all of your nominees. Overall, this is nicely written, and it's given me a bunch of new movies to go out and see. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Well written, though you weren't joking about the long :p

I actually mostly agree with them as well, the only major one I disagree with was lord of the rings (I actually fell asleep in it). I guess the dark knight as well, though I expected it, both watchmen and V for vendetta were far better imo (far more depth, the story relied less on memorable acting to be memorable) but that's got more to do with my personal tastes than any objective setlist (I just liked both stories).

Pretty sure that's blasphemy, though I can't imagine Serenity being particularly standout to those who hadn't seen the series.

Very good, but I disagree with you in a few parts (what can ya do?). Put a little ",in my opinion." at the end of all of these statements.

Sci fi should have been "District 9".

Comic Book should have been "Watchmen".

Animated should have been "Paprika".

and...

Crime should have been... well, "Justified Kill". Actually, no.

Maybe.

Pester me if you want this to turn into a discussion, I'd be very willing.

I'm a little conflicted about these awards.

Let The Right One In and Howl's Moving Castle were fantastic movies. But I don't really consider Let The Right One In a horror movie, though, it was deffinately the best vampire movie of the decade.
And I also consider Spirited Away to be better than Howl's Moving Castle.

And if you want to watch a true drama, watch Lilia-4-Ever. Watch it once and then never watch it again.

Hah! Surprised I actually agree with you on a few of the picks :D

Saw Hot Fuzz just the other day and it was hilarious, good pick although I would probably have gone for Superbad myself.

And as much of a Star Wars geek as I am, I can't disagree with Serenity ^^ Though to be fair, on it's own it's just OK, it's only really good because of the better-than-amazing TV-series that backs it up.

I'm also kind of surprised you mentioned Zodiac. I thought I was the only one who liked that movie ^^

While I can't agree with everything you've chosen, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. BUT! For the sake of my own self-being I have to bring this up. Pandorum? Honestly? Pandorum was a complete waste of a great concept and became just like very other "it's going to get you" horror movie in set in space. It's not even scary! It wasn't bad but nominated for one of the best sci-fi films of the decade? Fuck no, what about Avatar, The Matrix, Solaris hell even Surrogates?

But like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so I'm sure you have your reasons.

I guess I truly am the only person who enjoyed Pandorum. I found it terrifying and one of the first good sci fis (besides District 9) I had seen in a while.

As for your mentions, well, as I said before, I didn't really like Avatar, The Matrix was shit in my opinion, Solaris was decent but nothing I found special and Surrogates? Really?

[i/]That[/i] movie was a complete waste.

While Surrogates is far from perfect it's easily better than Pandorum. Pandorum lacked any originality what-so-ever and well...it wasn't scary! And while we're on the subject of horror, where the fuck was Drag Me To Hell?! One of the best horror films in a long time that wasn't a remake, sequel and didn't rely on a gimmick.

While I do disagree with you on pretty much all nominations, I can clearly see you put a lot of effort into writing this and I appreciate it. It could have been a little longer, I thought, with more detail and explanations, but as a list of personal films it was good.
