Well to the "Pandorum" thing, to each his own I guess. I can't make you like it, nor was I intending to.

And about Drag Me To Hell. That was going to be a nominee, but it wasn't enough of a horror for me. Sure there were some terrifying parts, but most of it had me laughing. Until the end of course. Then I was freaking out.

Well, at least you put [REC] in the horror list, a truly great film indeed.

Truly.

Highly underrated.

I think 30 Days of Night and The Ring should have been in the horror section. But i do applaud that you put Momento and Oldboy in there.

Personally I'm going to have to go with The Lord of the Rings trilogy closely followed by The Matrix as best movies of the decade.

I know they're just your opinions but I've gotta say some of your winners(as well as some nominee's) left me scratching my head, but while some were WTF, others I thought were extremely awesome(Let the Right one in) and in other cases(comic book adaptation) I thought it a shame that you could only have one winner
Which winners exactly left you confused, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm just looking for constructive criticism
your picks for best crime movie and best drama and best of the were somewhat suprising. mostly because I've seen(some of) the other movies in those catagories(Pan's Labyrinth, Munich, Gran Torino). and as far as movie of the decade don't get me wrong I loved Inglorious Basterds, I just think that its abit to soon to be giving it such an honor. also I have a suggestion you should do another catagory "Best movie based on a Video Game"

EDIT: and having seen some of the other comments I'm inclined to agree with whoever said Return of the King, is an action flick not a drama

Way ahead of you. Already started, though I've shortened it to 4 categories instead of 8.

I liked the review, though I'd question some of your categorization.

For example, I'd class The return of the King as an action or fantasy film, more than a drama. And Let The Right One In (though officially classed as horror) contains very little horror elements.

But overall, I agreed with all of your choices, save The Dark Knight.
(Though for the horror category, I would have leaned more towards The Descent.)

I'm glad you mentioned Sunshine, as it is incredibly underrated, and has excellent music, acting, and camerawork. It is a shame that is barely known outside of England.

And Hot Fuzz was amazing. Me and my dad picked it at random while we were stranded in a movie theater in Budapest because of the rain. We had no idea what it was about, and it turned out to be one of the best chances we took.

Though I have to ask, am I the only one who found Let The Right One In not only greatly overrated, but just bad in general? It just seems like that sort of tedious, soulless kind of artsy movie that I notice a lot in Europe? I'm not saying it doesn't have artistic merits, but the dialog is pointless and overdone, the acting stoic and one-dimensional, and the dynamics non-existent. Maybe I'm just some dumb American who gets off on instant gratification (one step ahead, eh?), but I do expect a certain amount of emotional grounding in my movies, not just pontificating just for the sake of seeming like you've made something suspenseful and worthy of further investment.

But anyways, Return of the King rocked my world. Good choice.

wow, you're the first person I've known to actually know what The Descent is.

Yes, the movie was fantastic.

And as for why Let the Right One In is in horror, well because that's what its classified as. I would have put it in Drama/Romance/Fantasy but I figured someone would ***** at me for not putting it in the horror section.

And to The Return of the King in drama rather than action or fantasy is well because I didn't have a fantasy section and its classified as a drama by The Academy and really all movie genre databases. It even says "Drama" on the side of the box.

The Descent was the first movie to actually properly scare me. It holds a special place in my heart.
That's not to say I didn't like Let the Right One In - I adore that movie so much, it's one of my all-time favourites. It just doesn't do it for me as a horror movie.

And I guess you have a point on the Return of the King thing, though I still wouldn't put it there. But then, it's not my review.

I honestly wouldn't put Return of the King or Let the Right One In in either of the categories they ended up in on this list, but I just went by what was on the description on the movie website or on the box.

About the comic book movies. You only included superheroish movies. As a result you left out American Splendor and Persepolis. Both of which have earned international acclaim. Other movies like History of Violence and Road to Perdition are both based of comic books even though the marketing didn't heavily advertise it as such. If you haven't seen any of these I recommend American Splendor and Persepolis the most.

Someone who spends so much time should get more views, really. Rather entertaining.
I'm gonna take that as a compliment.

I didn't see any of those movies except A History of Violence and I didn't know that was a comic.
