I remember playing that once and I think .hack// has only slipped under the radar because its probably only sold in Japan, maybe America, from my viewpoint at least. But it was rather clever in its attempt to pretend to be an MMO. It was a framing device I kinda liked. The bracelet on the other hand was one of the weirdest items I have ever known to exist in a computer game. A weapon that turns enemies into lower level versions of themselves but also seems to slowly get towards penalising you for it never sat right in my head. The monsters I was expected to fight were quite nasty if I remember correctly so it was probably necessary for a lot of fights. I think it was supposed to punish constant use with weird effects like poison. Still, a very interesting idea, even if I didn't quite work for me.OroCrimson said:~The .hack// original series was a good set of games. I usually only see people talk about G.U., but not much about this. I REALLY want to try G.U. but so far this game has been amazing and I love the story and the characters, as well as just the way it mimics an MMO so well. If only The World was a real game. If only...
VIII was the first one I played and I enjoyed more than any of the others. It was like Sims and Strategy. I fondly remember it as my first addiction, lol.ChupathingyX said:I've always wanted to play that, the only one I've ever played was XI (which i thought was good, loved the world and character portraits). Also apparently VIII is really good.BFEL said:Also Romance of the Three Kingdoms 10 for strategy game.
Oh god, I remember that game. There was one section I absolutely hated where you're being chased by a bus, and the camera angle is fixed to look behind you at all times, so you're expected to get away from the bus without being able to see what's in front of you. I got soo frustrated during that section because I kept getting stuck on things causing me to get run over.Jay Parrish said:"The Warriors" for the PS2, an early Rockstar game about gang fist fights.
Great game, great developer and it was based on a great movie...
Still in my top 3 games ever... probably still my all-time favourite now that I think about it...
Oh yeah, this too. It's basically TF2 meets LoL, get it and you won't die.pyrosaw said:Monday night Combat. I love that game SO much man. Multiplayer with tower defense mechanics? Yes please.
Hah. I kinda liked it. I dug how you programmed the mech instead of just customized it's appearance. Pretty innovative stuff for it's time.BFEL said:UGH.... I remember that. It was basically Armored Core but you just piddled around while the computer had all the fun and glory. PASSHiphophippo said:Carnage Heart for the psx. But anyway mine would be Legend of Mana for the playstation. Its a JRPG that felt like a western RPG. Also every single background looked (im pretty sure they were) hand-painted.
Also Romance of the Three Kingdoms 10 for strategy game.
I combined Pirahnas and Tigers togther to make KatahnasPhlakes said:Fuck, this game was awesome. Any game where you can make shark-scorpions would be.scw55 said:Impossible Creatures; an RTS that has a Starcraft flavour to it. You pretty much have an army of 9 unit which you create from scratch by combining 2 animals. You choose what body parts you use. Each body part gives stats and/or abilties. The campaign has you "capturing" genetic material by tranqshotting animals so it has a sort of Pokemon-sort of feel to it. It also tries to not overwhelm you. In the campaign you can freely edit your units mid-game. It's thourghouly enjoyable having entirely customizable units which you can set up to suit your play style. Gameplay outside of that is hollow however, but meh.
Also, Quest 64. It's like FFXIII in that it has a great battle system, but everything else sucks. Except this one has no story.
I agree with Beyond Good and Evil. Excellent game. I'd also qualify the always classic Psychonauts.NpPro93 said:Be sure to read this post, because its not as simple as the title makes it out to be.
Basically, there used to be an "award" in EGM's Game of the Year awards for "Best Game that Nobody Played." I think GameSpot and other sites did things like this, too. I was thinking about how sometimes there are movies that get great reviews and press, but nobody sees them. I realized that, while this used to be common in video games, I can't think of any recent examples. Can you? Am I just not paying attention? Or has the internet and mass media given outstanding games the press they deserve?
Just wondering what your thoughts were.
Feel free to post your favorite game that nobody played, too. Mine is a pretty common one: Beyond Good and Evil. Hoping for that sequel...
Whatever lol its been so long since I played it I am happy I remembered at least one of the names.ChupathingyX said:Don't you mean Sev?Krion_Vark said:Still want to know WTF happened to Scorch
OH YEAH! MNC kicked ass. Stupid people claiming it was a TF2 ripoff, yeah right...it was freaking awesome!pyrosaw said:Monday night Combat. I love that game SO much man. Multiplayer with tower defense mechanics? Yes please.
