Sacrifice which is quite awesome, and really weird in a Giant Citizen Kabuto kind of way. Also, KKND2: Krossfire released for the PlayStation 1, one of RTS games I have fond memories of.

Genewars. Thank you, Bullfrog, for yet another under-appreciated title.

Terminator: Future Shock - If you ever got bored of the Duke vs Quake wars of the mid 90's, Bethesda had a third way...

Dynasty Tactics 2.

This game has the best turn-based combat I've ever played, it works so well and is really easy to get used to. The planning and tactics are fun, organising armies, spies and sending out officers to recruit friends are all so fun. The officers are all unique and there are plenty of tactics to use. Also there are four campaigns, all of which are long and have branching paths that actually lead to very different storylines and endings.

The character design is good, the graphics are pretty good for a game that was released in 2003 and the gameplay is smooth and can be very deep if you play it strategically. Also there is a multiplayer mode that a friend and I have had heaps of fun playing againts each other.

Of course it was a Koei game that barely got any advertisement and being a Koei game is barely known outside of Japan.

Thrill Kill. Epic PS1 game. Its a shame it got banned so not alot of people really got the chance to play it.
A common misconception, but it didn't get banned, virgin games got bought out before it was released and the new owners cancelled it along with a few other games as well. It was already in production so those copies found their way out into the world, but as far as I'm aware it never got banned anywhere. Honestly though, from what I played it really want anything worth writing about.

Also, GameSpot still does best game nobody played award, they gave it to vanquish last year.

My vote though, undying. Fantastic setting, good voice acting, great characters and fun as hell too. Got a 90% average review score ane sold less than 10,000 copies. Probably a candidate for one of the 30 games ea is releasing on got at the end of the summer since its become something of a cult classic.

I don't know if this game was more popular than I'm remembering, but Tetrisphere on the N64. A great puzzle game that my 10 year old self found hard as hell. But a good time none the less... And it had some great music to go with it too, so at least it sounded good while the AI was kicking your ass

Carnage Heart for the psx. Free Internet cookie to anyone who fondly remembers this game.
UGH.... I remember that. It was basically Armored Core but you just piddled around while the computer had all the fun and glory. PASS

But anyway mine would be Legend of Mana for the playstation. Its a JRPG that felt like a western RPG. Also every single background looked (im pretty sure they were) hand-painted.

Also Romance of the Three Kingdoms 10 for strategy game.

Well when Okami and No More Heroes were first release in their homeland Japan no one hardly bought it. NMH was saved in USA and Europe while it took some years for Okami to get popular.
It was thanks to the lack of Okami sales that Clover studio had closed down. Well we end up with Platinum game so it sort of work out.

At first I would say No More Heroes and Indigo Prophecy but both those games have a pretty big cult following so I know that's kind of pushing it.

I've always wanted to play that, the only one I've ever played was XI (which i thought was good, loved the world and character portraits). Also apparently VIII is really good.

I thought Cold Fear was a pretty good game. Creepy setting and scenery. Kind of a Resident Evil 4 clone, but still a decent game

Hahah, yes, same here ... played it on my PC. Years of my childhood were spent playing that game though, admittedly, never finished the campaign..

OT: I can't honestly say. All the gamers I know almost believe games only existed 2000-onwards. :(

Either I skipped over reading it or no-one has mentioned Grim Fandango yet.

I'm sure there are more than a few people on this forum who've played it, but the game did terribly for sales.

SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 on the PS2

Everyone talks about the Persona series, but they rarely ever mention these two gems. They are part of the top 10 games I have EVER played.

The story is brilliantly written, gameplay is amazing (though may look scary at first; it's surprising simple and FUN even though I hate FF-styled gameplay) and though the graphics may look outdated, it suited the game very well. These two are my definition of a perfect game.
