Silent Hill 2. It would take forever to list everything I love about this game and why, but I'll just say if you've played it, you know.

GoldenEye is SO good and without it TimeSplitters would never been made, but let go of the nostaliga... Let it go...
Say what?
I played both and preferred goldeneye, controls are much simpler and even the parts where you can shoot guards in the rear and they will jump and grab their hind quarters and look around.
Timesplitters has nothing on Goldeneye. OPINION.
If it wasn't so good why is there HL2 mod of it?

Favourite game ever: Ace Combat 4: Distant Thunder (PS2 - 2004)
First fix is free.

And what the fuck?

If it wasn't so good why is there HL2 mod of it?
Read my post again, I said that I thought GoldenEye was good.

Yeeesh, normaly I would say welcome to The Escapist but now I'm not so sure.

I can't really choose any one game, so I'll eschew common candidates like Half Life 2 or Super Metroid and say Sly 2: Band of Thieves. Probably the best game I've played on the PS2, though strangely I didn't play that many games on it.

Uncharted 2. I don't care if you say it's ripping off Tomb Raider/ Indiana Jones, I had a hell of a lot of fun with it.

Mass Effect 1+2. I am completely in love with Mass Effect. Let's hit up the good parts first.
Graphics: The facial animations, character models and enviornments all look pretty much Photo realistic, which is no easy feat considering most of the characters are space aliens.

Story: The dialog is extremely well written and comes to life with the brilliant animations and exceptional voice acting. The plot keeps you guessing throughout and almost all the characters feel like real human beings (Again no easy feat.) The codex which provides back story and non-essential information about the galaxy is breathtakingly detailed. It took me 3 hours to read about half of it in the 2nd game so just imagine the size of the third's.

Gameplay: Whether you like shooters or Rpgs Mass Effect will deliver. The 1st is more tailored to an Rpg players fancy with complex skill trees and high amounts of customization. The 2nd however is more Shooter based. Skill trees are toned down allowing for quick jump-in-and-go gameplay and the shooting is tighter. However neither eliminates enough to disappoint unless you are a hardcore fan of either Genre.

And now the bad parts: Once the trilogy is over, it's over.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time, self-explanatory really, even now, 12 years after it's release it's an almost perfect game, the story, the gameplay, everything works perfectly. It made me fall in love with Fantasy games really.

edit: Less cheating imo, he said GAME not GAMES.

I'm talking about your precious Timesplitters not having a modification.
I know you said you liked it, but you're saying let go of it, when this game clearly has not died unlike Timesplitters, if you're going to be childish about someone talking down about your game, come up with some arguments to support it.

Games
Deus Ex
Half Life

Reason
Deus Ex: aside from the plot twists, the game is just so damn addicting and awesome, and made GREAT use of the unreal engine.

Half Life: Told the whole story of a game without using a single cutscene, and again, was just awesome!

I prefer Baldur's Gate's D&D style of leveling up and everything. Also I wasn't a fan of the weapons in Mass Effect. But the game was still pretty kickass.

Who is being childish I might ask? I said that I prefer one game over the other and then you rage like a fucking twelve-year old kid with ADD. Seriously.

I can tell you why I prefer TimeSplitters over GoldenEye 64 if that is what you want, but you seem to forget that it is a matter of opinion not fucking math where 2 + 2 always equals 4.

With that out of the way, I prefer TimeSplitters 2 mostly because I played it more with my friends. It being made later made it possible for more techical improvments and and I never really liked the N64 controller.

That good enough for you?

To pick a single game that you defined as the best must really mean that it truly stood out as superior, and with some many good games to pick a single winner seems wrong. Ogre battle 64 was a landmark for me, as I realized I liked having command over armies, and brought me to the RTS genre. Then there was Total annihilation, the first combat economic game, as in a game were improperly managed economy was usually your downfall, and I do mean this more so when compared to Age of Empires, which had it's own charm, Halo one has a special place in my heart because it was before it sold out, and it was the first good FPS I'd ever played. Oh, Legend of Dragoon, arguably one of the best RPG's of it's time, the only arguable part being the 4 discs, but that was when you got a good deal of game time for your money.

Hm... I'd have to say... Bioshock. Good plot, atmosphere, gameplay, and length. Portal misses out only due to its length.
Same here. That or either of the Mass Effects.
