If I have to choose only one, I'm going with Shadow of the Colossus. Most beautiful, best soundtrack, great gameplay, and one of the best (and simplest) stories.
I have to strongly disagree with you. I haven't seen a more lame character since Final Fantasy X. And Sin? Seriously? A giant monster with a "twist"? What the hell are they talking about? You want epic story, play Final Fantasy Tactics. My vote goes there.Phoenixlight said:

No. The Twisted metal is ok. I love the Vigilante 8 series, the graphics are not that great but it makes up in levels, vehicles, vehicle upgrades, unlockables, cheat codes and playability. I think Vigilante 8 and Vigilante 8 2nd Offence are the BEST CAR COMBAT GAMES EVER!notyouraveragejoe said:

There is way too much history/world to pull from for them cut it off with Shepard. Think about it. They could make an entire NEW series where you play as an Asari or Turian. From what I have played of 7 the characters aren't exactly full of character ... in fact there bare bones, the aggressive one, the not caring one and the were here to make up the numbers.
I loved the idea behind and story behind sin.
Other contestants are manhunt it's ultra violent, heavy emphasis on stealth and a bizarre story. My kind of game.
MGS series is the other ones, just love everything about them.

Metal Gear Solid 3. I could not find one single flaw in all of it. The story was consistent, with good pacing and developed characters, (that is, if you bothered to pay attention and take some radio calls) and weapons were plentiful and satisfying, the environments were large, and the enemy AI was utterly stupendous. Not to mention, that this was one of the most beautiful games on the PS2, having been released shortly before the PS3 of course. If you dragged enemies into pools of water, they would drown. If you shot a hornets nest above an enemy, he would run around comically, screaming as hornets swarmed around him. Glass shattered nicely, and enemies heard footsteps and gunfire. An absolute classic!

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Very emotional story, tactical-stealth-survival gameplay, one of the best boss battles ever, amazing soundtrack [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNVCD1dsnJI], great characters, probably the best graphics on PS2, this game is just as perfect as a game can be.
