I don't think this topic has done before, but I thought it was quite a good one.

Which song, in your opinion, has the best guitar solo ever?

Maybe the most obvious choice ever, but Stairway to Heaven (by Led Zeppelin, if someone didn't know) does have an amazing solo.

Btw, one of my favourites has to be the one at the end of Bold as Love by Jimi Hendrix. It's awesome.

Also Freebird.

EDIT: Forgot Painkiller by Judas Priest. Srsly, find it on Youtube.

Cynic has many amazing solo's :p
yet none of them is really ae inspiring. IMO, of course.

I think the greatest Solo is from Hallowed Be Thy Name, by Iron maiden, because it fits so damn well. Or the one in 'Where would we be' by Porcupibe Tree, but that's really pushing it. Let's just call that one a grea solo, a solo worth mentioning.

I really like the two solos in Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, and Pantera's Cemetery Gates.

I feel like im the only one who isnt impressed by their solo....
You might just be, it's easily the best part of an already legendary song.

OT: Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" or Queen's "I Want It All".

Porcupine Tree just has great music and needs to be mentioned.

Yes they are, i have musical jizz all over the place from them.
1. I really dislike the phrase 'jizz in my pants', but that's something for another time.
2. Cynic makes fantastic music, but their solos aren't epic, in the same way a Bernini statue isn't epic. It is however, stunningly beautiful, and certainly deserves to be mentioned, but none of their solos is 'awesome' enough to be the best (or one of the best, only Sith deal in absolutes).

I'm still buying Re-Traced, though.

OK then, love the bit of solo at 6:40 in "Dot Three".
Also in the solo in "The Sound of Muzak" (2:48)
Another solo favourite of mine is after the second chorus in Mastodon's "Oblivion" (2:58)

My favorites are Free Bird, Beat It (just because how it mskes me while I play the solo) and Purple Haze has a pretty good solo.
