So there are other people who watch it? No one I know watches the show, it makes me a sad panda because it's rather good.

OT: I don't know, all though, I'm going to have to support my home team. UK (England to be specific) ftw.

They make you pay too much for internet which is too slow.
[sup]Those companies will squeeze every penny they can out of it and as long as not one of them changes that, none of them will need to.[/sup]
Totally on the mark. It's disgusting how much we have to cough up every month, just because there are only a few big companies on the Belgian internet market.

I live in Belgium, but I prefer the UK. And some places in Spain as well. London and Salamanca are among my top favourites. Although I also love the Spanish and British countryside.

I went to Finland and I thought the place was straight from a fairy tale. So much more beautiful than Florida for me.

Though I might be biased for living there, I'd go with Scandinavia, It's safe, stable, fairly equal (for now).

You could do better than Denmark, really. Their political climate right now is a little disconcerting. They're not involved in the shadier goings-on of the world because they have their own shady dealings to attend to. The police and government both are getting increasingly oppressive, and you really don't want to go there as an immigrant. Nationalist sentiment is strong there right now.
"Nationalist sentiment" is not strong in the population: It's strong in the political party which tips the scales in parliament (and their voters), and who thus hold disproportionate power. Nobody satirizes the state and royalty like Danes.

As for police brutality I'd reacon that there's no police in the world I'd rather be held by than the Scandinavian ones. The police faced the most hard-core protesters from all of Europe during the climate summit, and things arguably got out of hand with mass arrests, but overall I don't see it as a significant problem, especially not compared to the others corps' of Europe.

Sentiments against (non-western) immigrants ARE getting worse though, as many are not as highly liberal (especially on religious and sexual matters) and generally easy-going in life as the native population. An unjustified generalization IS occurring against those non-western immigrants who are acceptant of the liberal democratic civil rights society, thanks to right-wing extremist in a key position, who are nurtured by the fact that the borders were open wide for 40 years for all kinds of poorly educated religious and political fundamentalists, as well as the good and proper immigrants who are presumably the large majority.

If you want to move to a European country you best start learning the language now. Ill also ad its pretty difficult to obtain citizenship is the Germanic countries, you need to have lived there for around 7-9 years, and be fluent in the language. I say the Germanic countries because they are the best.
Bullshit, it´s fucking easy to get citizen ship...just go here, pass a test and bingo...you don´t even need to speak that much german, or else i couldn´t figure out how all the inbred mofos speaking in weird tongue losely resembling german could ever have gotten here...
Well that and you don´t need a job to live happily in germany, Hartz IV blows enough money into your lazy ass if you don´t feel like working.

You probably mean Austria or Switzerland with that...switzerland is particulary hard...
The Skando countries are difficult to get citizenship........ unless your an arab.

Are you sure its easy to get citizenship, or are you talking about a visa or something, because the whole EU thing screwed everything up.

"Places to avoid: The Balkans, Italy, the Baltic states and most of eastern Europe... And Spain"

Yeah, right. Avoid going to some of the most culturally and socially interesting (not to mention: cheap to live in, with awesome scenery everywhere) countries?
You need to be careful when you lump "Italy" and "cheap to live in" in the same sentence.

Don't know about Switzerland, but in Austria it's not really impossible for an american to get citizenship.
And german is not too hard to learn for an english-speaking person...

Cant believe nobody has mentioned Prague. Lovely city, cheap food, and it's centrally positioned for visiting all those other places mentioned....winter is quite cold though.

So I was thinking about where I would like to live when I get older the other day and I've settled on somewhere in Europe.

I don't really know why, I just love the European countries despite only having been to 2, Spain and England.

So, naturally being that the majority of the Escapist seem to be from Europe, I come to the Escapist for an answer as to what is the best European country, city or village to live in.
Nowhere, because no matter where you go, you'll run it to a bunch of snooty, snobby, and assholian pieces of whitebread, whiter then a snowman with a glue fetish, and occasionally so white, that if theyw ere any more white, they'd be invisible. (SATIRE SARCASM).
Hehe...whitebread

Country
UK
I would suggest starting with the UK or Ireland since we/they are culturally the most similar to your home country and then the rest of the continent is only a short train ride/ferry trip away if you're feeling more adventurous.

I've never been there, but my personal wishlist is pretty much the germanic/norse countries, Germany, Holland, Denmark etc. Spain is nice if you like being baked alive, but then you've already been there so you know that. France looks really nice, everyone says the people aren't so great but I didn't notice that when I went there, I think it's just the accent and intonation that makes them sound rude/arrogant to native English speakers.

If you like the idea of Europe, don't go to England. Many of us are enormously anti europe, we have Nick Griffon too so bonus shit points there. I am personally Pro european super nation! but it will never happen if englands involved :(

As a side note, does anyone else find it strange that we as the english are crazy anti brussels and europe but don't understand why their are movements in wales/scotland/northern ireland to become independant. It's kinda retarded right?
