I want to say the town I was born and raised in...DeMotte, IN...

Small town, but you have the basics...a major town center where like everything is, couple parks, decent amount of housing (now that they are expanding), etc...But what is really nice is how close we are to everything...
Shopping->Valpo and Merriville are 30 min away...
Tourist Attractions->Chicago and Indianapolis are 2 hrs away...
1 hr away from West Lafayette (Go Purdue!)
1 hr away from the Indiana Dunes (and lake Michigan)

We are literally in the middle of everything...And still keep a small town atmosphere (We have 2 traffic lights!!!)I live on the town limits, and behind my back yard is a horse pasture...Yeah, DeMotte is awesome...If you like towns as opposed to cities...

Phil-a-fucking-delphia!
For those of you who don't know: they have the BEST bread in the country, so all of their food is awesome! Plus, nice weather (if you're like me and you love the cold), and cool people. I love going there to visit family.

Helen Georgia is pretty nice particularly during the holidays.

It's pretty much a small German villa in the north Georgia mountains. Just fill in the blanks.

As for bad, I live in the ATL and it's not exactly pleasant to be here.
Are you ITP or out in suburbia?

OT: Georgia can be nice, but I agree...Atlanta itself can be kind of dangerous depending on where you go. Plus traffic is horrible. If you move out into the boonies there isn't a lot to do but you'll never really be more than about 3 or 4 hours away from the city at the most.
Out in in suburbs in Gwinnett County. It's waaaay too over populated here.

Houston, Texas is pretty cool. NASA, baby. Some of the world's best hospitals, excellent Mexican food, pretty decent schools... Yeah, Houston kicks ass.

South Dakota. Where the men are men, the women are men, and the sheep are scared.
Sounds like Wales actually, but less rainy and hotter.

Anyway, even though I've never actually been there, just reading, hearing and seeing things about New York makes me want to go there pretty badly.
You can say it about any rural area. Though in the magical land of South Dakota, the guns laws, if you can call them that, are basically nonexistent.

Bloomington Indiana
Beautiful landscape, lush flora, highest amount of ethnic food per-capita in the States, oh and a college town.
Great place to live.
You can even get food from Tibet.

I would say New England is pretty nice in the Spring and Summer. Pretty comfortable tempature,Historcal sites and just great cities with a lot of attractions. Boston and Providence are proably the best cities in that area.
To that I raise you Hawaii. Nuff said.
Hawaii is nice in the resort areas, but outside those small portions there isn't much to see. Plus, all of it's best sites are spread out across the islands. At least in Boston all the best sites are within an half hour of eachother depending on traffic.

Early, Texas!!!
[sub] not really, theres nothing to do here. [/sub]

Its a good place to live, but really boring.
Oh come now, its only a stone's throw away from Howard Payne and a bowling alley...

ot: If you're going to live Texas, Austin and Denton are pretty much the only viable options
Mind if I ask your name? If you live in the Early/Brownwood area, we may at least know of each other. Also, the bowling allys great, if you like breathing in smoke, lol
I live in Eastland, but we have academic competitions in Brownwood. The Bowling alley does smell like nicotine and sadness though.

Ok im an Englishman, but i've always wondered what its like to live in the USA (everythings alot bigger over there and not just a quick car journey away)

so i was wondering, where are the best places to live in the US and why? and if you like also.... where are the worst places to live?
I can kinda understand your situation. I was born and raised in Hawaii, and while technically a state, it is nothing like the mainland US. I moved to northern California near San Francisco 5 years ago when the Air Force decided to station me here. The people in the mainland are everything that I have heard about stereotypical rude, obnoxious, poor driving Americans. So I can say without a doubt, Hawaii is the best place in the US to live/visit.
If you require more proof here is a picture I took from a beach that's 10 mins from my house.

you had a lucky childhood my friend
yeah I'd say so. 18 years of going to the beach almost every day. And remember! If you go to LA or new york and you want to do shit, its gonna cost you some big bucks (or Euros). The beach is always free! Maybe 20 for a board or snorkle rental.
