Yellow, got it for my birthday, along with a yellow Game Boy Colour. Those were the days!

Pokemon Gold. But in general the amount of time i have clocked in pokemon is MASSIVE, I reckon a save file with 380 hours and several other over 200 and that was when i still had my gameboy. I have been gaming alot on emulators too in later days.

Like seriusly I believe im up to 3-4 thousand hours in total.

Red/Blue...Blue had magma so let's go with blue because fire pokemon are useless...unless you're fighting you're friend's grass pokemon :)

I'm probably blinded by nostalgia but I'll never forget those long summer days...shut inside levelling my Blastoise.

I agree, Gold/Silver was probably best of the series to date.
1: Excellent Music for it's time.
2: The Pokegear was full of useful utilities.
3: The week cycle and changes from day to night.
4: The story. It felt like it actually occurred in the same universe as it's predecessor, and literally picks up 3 years from where the last game left off.
5: There were entirely too many things to do. There really isn't much of a post-game in most of them, but your first showdown vs Champion Lance is probably the half way point in the game.

I enjoy the music of the newer games, and I enjoyed the nostalgia factor of the re-makes (that, and finding the G/S pokemon was bloody difficult after the move to the GBA). Black has a surprisingly deep plot, though.

So far, my favorite is Soul Silver. I liked how it used the first generation as the foundation for its story mode and how it opened up Kanto when you beat the Elite 4, and the remake added two generations of gameplay polishing to an already great game.

Hopefully, when I finally buy Pokemon: White, I'll have a new favorite.

Gold/ Silver (NOT Heart Gold and Soul Siler) because it had feature new stuff which at that time it was amasing-

Special day event (bug catching on Tuesday)

Night and day cycle including certain pokemon can be caught only in morning or night.

Return to Kanto after beating the Elite 4 (Seriouly excluding the remake, R/S/E, D/P/Plat and B/W does not include to return to a past continment after beating the elite 4).

Regardless of the nostalgia, I still thing B/W is really good althought I bored of the game now...

Hmmm, everyone is saying Gold and Silver, since crystal is a mix of them I might get it on ebay. How cheap is it going for?

Hands down Gold and Silver are the best, with Red and Blue in a close second. I began to lose interest after Generation 2. The new Pokemon weren't as memorable as the earlier ones, and I felt the games were becoming bogged down is useless activities (like the personal hideout thing in Ruby/Sapphire - why did we need that?!)

deffinately pokemon silver, mainly because of the newer pokemon mixed in with the old (before they started making some really ridiculous ass pokemon).

i guess a tie between yellow and silver, i mean c'mon, who didn't love yellow?

oh! if N64 games are included then all time fave is pokemon snapshot.

I think they were less memorable due to the fact taht we all already had to remember around 300+ and then they added even more, i will admit the amount of pokemon now is quite ridiculous but i still love it XD and it was useless but its a fun little side questy thingie that you could do if you got a lil bored, admittedly it wasnt that great but still XD

I'm gonna say Sapphire was the best. Gold/Silver's story was driven mostly by nostalgia.

Gold & Silver.

The sprites got a bit more spit & polish, the music was awesome, it introduced breeding, day/night cycles, daily events and probably some other things I can't remember. A big step up from the already globally huge hits that were Red Blue/Green and Yellow.

Yellow...need I say more?...I do!?..Oh okay, yeah it was the bee's knees! Despite having Pikachu always following you like some crazy anarchist gimp...painted yellow, it was a really good game for the time :)
