Flower, Dragon Age, inFAMOUS, Brutal Legend (if you like that sort of thing), Uncharted series, Resistance was awesome, though I haven't got the second one, the Ratchet and Clank series. Take your pick.

Alright... is that loud-voice thingy on? Well then.

[HEADING=2]All three parts of Ratchet & Clank Future are officially a must-buy if you have a PS3. If you like platforming, colorful graphics, and really really big guns, look no further. Seriously, it has a gun turning enemies into penguins and a hypnotic disco-ball! And you can use them toghether! What else could you possibly want?![/HEADING]

*ahem* Well, i said what i think. Listen to me or not - the choice is yours.
This, I still need to get A Crack In Time though.
Mr Zurkon IS impressed!

Definately Uncharted but turn off game hints and auto save it can crash and cause the game to be unplayable for a few days. Ratched and Clank - I just got tools of destruction and I lurvee itttt. inFamous is badass too. Batman is a lot prettier on the ps3, its brighter too, plus you get to play as the joker :D.

MGS4 is you like the metal gear series. Dont forget the PSN network - you can get some kewl indie games and ps1 games on it!

lol, i dont think i need any ps1 games... i already have them on disk ;)

monocle has pinpointed the worry about Valkyre for me... and by the sound of it, its got a little too much J on it. Thats why i never got into FF. That, and if i start now, i probably wont have a hope of getting the storyline...

By the sound of things, im getting a few names that pop up quite frequently:

inFamous
Rachet and Clank
CoD MW2 (too expensive right now, will get it tho :D)
Uncharted(s)
Assasins Creed 2
Batman

Any more suggestions? hopefully different genres.

interesting to note that no one has talked about Bad Company 2, coming out march. I think it looks fantastic, and its about time battlefield got another addition to it.

Re: RocketPocket

The term "Best" was used to illustrate the responders points. If they say the game is good, then i will take a look at it, but if it not mentioned, then people will likely think that the game isnt worthwhile. And if most of them dont mention it, then it is likely that there is few that think the game is worth the money.

Bad Company 2 is a slow and clunky FPS with fuck all modes.
Well, i guess this is where personal opinions come in.

I played Battlefield 2, and i loved it. i havent played bad company however, but by the looks of things, it looks quite similar, with the addition of extra stuff. the reason i like the battlefield series is

a) they have vehicles
b) they require more teamwork then usual fps's, and
c) they are MASSIVE areas that require alot of TEAMWORK!!!

in games like MW, i have this niggling feeling that teamwork is optional, especially with deathmatches. it is simply run around and kill, without much emphasis on what war is actually about. war is about working with each other in order to rid them of their strong units by using their weakness (i.e rock paper scissors). you get a soldier, they get a sniper. they get a sniper, you send in a chopper. they send in AA, you send in tanks, etc etc etc.

being clunky, however could be a problem, so maybe pc version is the way to go...

I realy wish people would stop saying their similiar...
They are not. BF2 was nice and smooth, decent pace. BC1 is slow, clunky and has horrible gun mechanics.
They do NOT play the same at all.
ok, your going to have to be specific. what do you mean by slow and clunky?

Edit:
and reffering to the quote, i said i liked the game and it was similar in the way that you can drive tanks around, it is an open map AND required teamwork. please read before posting...
/Edit

as for borderlands, im not really interested in a gun based rpg. it just seems a little bit too into warcraft with guns. might be completely wrong, but yeah, someone will have to convince me otherwise to play it

woow, i looked at the trailer for warhawk, and it looks abit like a ramped up bf 2142. might get a demo 4 that too.

soul caliber to me is less impressive than tekken, but really, all you need is one game in the series and uv played most of em. same characters, mostly same controls for combos, but yeah, i think i'll stick to tekken 2 in terms of fighting games.

inFamous, Uncharted, MGS4, Killzone 2, Flower, Resistance: Fall of Man

Frankly, there's a lot to buy, but those are some good ones.

Don't forget the missile launching minigun that plays the 1812 overture!

I noticed the OP is after a shooter so I would recommend CoD:MW2 for online and for solo player bliss, get Bioshock.

Just bought a PS3 and high def TV 4 Christmas, and am curious as to what games to get for it. I have Dirt 2 and the 2nd Resistance game (although they're still going to be wrapped until Friday...), but don't know what else to get for it.

Suggestions and criticisms welcome.
Assassin's Creed I and II, Demon's Souls (a MUST buy), Prince of Persia, MGS4, Kane and Lynch, inFamous, LittleBIGPlanet, Final Fantasy XIII (when it's released), Lair (so much better with the patch), LostPlanet 1 (and 2 when it's released), Valkyria Chronicles I quite liked (it's an acquired taste) and last but not least, Disgaea 3.
I hope that helps. Those are some of the better games on ps3 (I'm aware a few aren't exclusives).
