Well, since we have a topic on the best series of this generation, I might as well put up a similar thread for people to talk about what they think was the best game of the generation, even stuff that was ported onto it (such as Okami), that has no sequels or prequels anywhere.
For starters, since I brought up Okami, that's probably a very major contender (well, the Wii version would be, since that's what's in this generation). Also, The World Ends With You, for its incredible story and unique gameplay that actually works, and from the independent side, VVVVVV (just play it already; it's only like five dollars.)
What do you guys think of this generation's best, and/or everyone else's taste in games?

Better hit the history books. For Lord Inglip!
Edit: Somebody just reminded me that Okami has a sequel. ...Thanks. I'd been trying really hard to forget that existed. So, yeah, even though it was brilliant, because of its not-quite-as-brilliant sequel, Okami has no place here. Sorry.
Edit 2: Maybe I should have made myself clearer. Things that are part of a single franchise, not including 'spiritual successors' like Perfect Dark to Goldeneye, cannot be in this list. Therefore, no GTA4, possibly no Red Dead Redemption, and defnitely not Oblivion. To everyone who was thinking of posting 'Oblivion' for the tenth time, please go back to primary/elementary school and learn how to read.

Read this. This has become official.Firia said:I would contest your prereqs are to strict.
I haven't invested much thought into it, but I want to say Prince of Persia 2008- now before you go jumping on me about it's a franchise, I'd like to point a few things out. It's a radically different game from it's predecessors, and other than having an otherwise unnamed "Prince," it had almost nothing else in common with the Sands of Time series of games.
