Pokemon Gold, my first game ever, when I was six.
Same, they once surprised me with Pokemon Blue.

Didn't ever know how to beat it till I was seventeen.

I only leveled up one Pokemon throughout the whole thing

Neither of my parents know anything about video games so any I did get were because of my brothers dropping hints on my behalf.

My parents didn't know me well enough to buy me things as a surprise, I usually had to tell them a game I wanted for them to buy it. I did, however surprise my old history teacher one day when I brought him copies of Darkest of Days and that History Channel game that no one remembers...

Majoras Mask, Jet Set Radio Future and Wind Waker! FUCK YES!!!

Coming home to find my dad on the nintendo with a mysterious new game, what is this I thought as I sat down to watch him play only to recognize someone I knew far too well, Link who at that age I knew as Eri since my dad named him that on OoT. I played the shit out of both those games.

My parents NEVER buy me surprise games. In fact, when it comes to most of my gifts I am very specific, making lists of what it is, what it looks like, where to get it, and how much it costs because my parents have a bad habit of giving me something that's CLOSE to what I want...but not it and then wasting their money.

But one time my family had some extra cash so my mother let me buy a PS3 a little early for Christmas. Awhile later she recieved a package in the mail, a very heavy one, and said that it was my other Christmas present. I thought "cool" and impatiently waited for Christmas. Finally she let me open it and....brand new Xbox 360 that she bought off of ebay. I hadn't really thought I would want an Xbox, but it ended up being one of my most used consoles and I adore my Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Two major consoles, one Christmas. I was so happy!

I recall one time my mom came home and Randomly had bought me the first Fable, since she knew I was kinda psyched for it. I had followed it since it was "Project Ego". Loved that game.

I seem to recall them once also getting me Jade Empire...

I never used to let my parents buy games for me, then one year my mother purchased a Wii and spent $700 on it along with really crappy games (animal crossing and a bunch of poorly designed minigame collections). Lesson learned, I will never let my parents purchase anything gaming related for me again.

If I must put in a "best" though, that would be Super Paper Mario. It was quite good, at least compared to the rest of the games.

The Nintendo 64 at Christmas along with sweet games like Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire and Golden Eye 007. What made it a big surprise though is that my Mum convinced me that they couldn't afford it before hand and made me pick something else.

Probably back in 2006, when my parents purchased vanilla World of Warcraft for my birthday. Ever since I witnessed that select episode of South Park I knew that I wanted to discover more about the world of Azeroth.

Now, almost 5 years later, I could pretty much tell you anything about the game that you need to know. I have no regrets. I love World of Warcraft and Blizzard to death.

What an awesome birthday that was.

On Christmas (can't remember when) there was a large box under the tree, since i knew it would be the best one, i opened it last, when i grabbed it from under the tree, i was surprised how light it was. I ripped of the wrapping and saw it was an Xbox (the original not the 360) still wondering why it was so light, i opened the box and was confused and slightly disappointed when i found it was empty :(. i looked at my dad confused and he said "look downstairs" so i ran downstairs and the tricky bastard had already set it all up for me! along with Simpsons hit and run and Brute Force :D

Back in Jr. High sall my friends were really into Red Alert 2. I played it at their houses occasionally, and asked my mom for it one day.

Unfortunately, my family loved Macs, and we had one. I didn't understand that at the time, but she came home with some game called StarCraft instead, just because it was Mac compatible. Best replacement ever.

Zelda Windwaker.
I had never played a Zelda game before, and knew literally nothing.
Four hours later, I was sailing about and fighting a dragon. Or maybe fighting near a dragon. It's kinda a blur of exploration and dungeons.

Uncharted 2. At the time, I had just purchased a PS3 and had no knowledge of it. Needless to say, I enjoyed it thoroughly :D
