Best: Metal Gear Solid 3 - in a perfect world, everything would be so epic.
Worst: Borderlands. I was expecting a lot of crates with weapons and I didn't get anything, literally.
Most disturbing: FEAR 2 definitely.

Halo 2.

Sir! Finishing this Fight!

Me: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!"

CoD4

Hey! Drive around in a jeep, kill a bunch of guys who can't drive for shit, Desperately try to shoot at a hind only to have it blow you up in the worst scripted sequence EVER. Fend off some soldiers, get blown up AGAIN, Zakhaev kills everyone, wait for hind to blow up AGAIN. Shoot Zakhaev, DUN DA DUN DAAH! You're done!

That's the worst closure to any game... ever.
First, forget about my avatar.
Now, with that out of the way, I thought it was a fairly awesome ending. The bad guy was killed, you were the one who killed him, since CoD never had any boss fights, the fact that you got to shoot Zakhaev satisified me greatly.
What's not to like?
It ended WAY too abruptly. It's like it ran out of time and said "fuck this". I mean how about an ending that involves this.

Everyone escapes in the chopper, but it's blown up by Zakhaev. You crash land in a forest, and everyone (except Price.) is dead. You run, bleeding out, running away from soldiers until Zakhaev finds you. He chokes you, stabs you, pummels you, and is about to shoot you dead. Price distracts Zakhaev, but gets shot, you pick up his gun, and depending on how fast you are, you either kill him, or you get shot and die. Soap lies, bleeding out to near death, flashing back all the main parts of the game until Kamarov and the loyalists find him and Price, and the game ends.

THAT is a conclusion.

Well, you sorta got that in the second one.
I mean, sounds exactly like the second one.
EXACTLY.

Best ending (EVAAAAAAAAAAR): Mafia. Show me a better ending, and I'll show you a flying pig.

Worst: Assassin's Creed is all that comes to mind; it wasn't even a cliffhanger, because we never knew where the cliff even was! The second game's ending was pretty good I thought; I'm so pumped for AC3 now. It struck that balance between closure/cliffhanger-i-ness/excitement pretty well.

Disturbing: I dunno, I've never played a game with a "disturbing" ending.

Although talking of disturbing endings, did anyone watch Skins ep. 7 yesterday? Talk about scriptwriters going insane - what the fuck were they thinking?!

Best Ending: Tossup between Bioshock (good ending) and Mass Effect.

Worst Ending: Honestly? Earthbound. Yes, for the SNES. I guess the actual ENDING was sappy-sweet standard RPG fare, but I can't help but hate it with the fury of a thousand suns, just because of how SHITTY the final boss fight is.

Disturbing: Get back to you on this one. Though the 'poison the water' option in non-DLC Fallout 3 is a good starter. *shudder*

Bestest: probably Frozen Throne's ending. Yep, it's sad, and yep, it's fucking awesome.

Worst: Bioshock. It's either rainbow puke or megaewulz whatthefuckery.

Most disturbing: Bioshock 2's evil endings are rather... evil.

Best Endings - Kingdom Hearts 2. Such a sweet ending. Mass Effect. Mass Effect's Ending just made me want to punch a walrus and rip some Reaper Ass up! I'd say Mass Effect 2 but . . . Actually Mass Effect 2. Gave me the same feeling as ME1.

Worst Ending - Halo 3. I mean seriously. So not worth it.

Disturbing - Huh.. Hurm... This flash game on newgrounds called The Company of Myself. It's not really disturbing just really sad. I'd suggest it to my fellow escapists.

Worst ending: *sigh* Neverwinter Nights 2.
"Rocks fall. Everyone dies". A famous RP gag for real.
In Mask of the Betrayer you continue the story actually, so not everyone. Although that doesn't make the original NWN2's ending any less ridiculous. On the plus side Mask really is better in pretty much every way possible than the original campaign so the OC quickly becomes just a barely remembered memory.

Dreamfall. I remember just numbly searching the internet for "Dreamfall ending" trying to find some kind've explanation or reason. I only found people equally confused as I and coincidentally this:
http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=682

I have to say, the analysis stuck a chord, and I felt a lot better about it:
In particular this made me laugh.
"One review I read likened the game to The Empire Strikes back: A dark second instalment in a trilogy. I disagree, because I?m sure I would remember if in ESB the beloved Luke had become self-destructive and nihilistic, eventually alienated his friends, and finally allowed himself to be killed by a stormtrooper. I don?t recall the scene where the rebellion was crushed and it hinted that even their families were killed. Princess Leia didn?t fall into a coma and eventually die, and Han Solo wasn?t rounded up and sent to the imperial prison where he was left to rot. The Empire didn?t introduce their new & improved Death Star at the end, and people left the theatre talking about wether or not Darth Vader was Luke?s father, not if they thought Chewbacca could maybe have somehow survived that final raid on the rebel base."
Hah, that's brilliant! I agree fully by the way, Dreamfall's ending was spectacularly anti-climactic. For that matter The Longest Journey's wasn't much better either considering it pretty much screwed over the main character in every way possible. Ragnar Tornquist, the series writer, really needs to cheer up some methinks.

Best Ending: Max Payne II: The game ends on a note that most video games can't stop at, and that's on a phrase that moves and disturbs all at the same time.
I saw my wife. She was dead, but it was all right.
How many games are grown up enough to say that? And that M.P.3 was a "Spiritual Sequel" made me realize I don't need to play it.

Worst Ending: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem: I love this game, I really do. I bought it in a pawn shop for 25 dollars. Believe me when I say it's worth every penny. Now, with that being said, the game ends. It just ends. It tries to leave open an idea for a sequel, but that doesn't help, I don't think. The game just covered 2 milleniums, what idea is there for a sequel?

In my opinion, it is a game that does everything all right until the final battle, and then everything goes downhill. Even on my third time playing it, it makes not a damn lick of sense.

Most Disturbing: I don't know. I really don't have many games that range on disturbing that are even worth mentioning.

Worst:
Xenogears - Voice acting... Why? Just why? It ruined any impact the ending might have had, including naked Elly. That's how bad it was.

Bioware's games in general - Can I for once have an ending? Then again, KoTOR2 proved how much worse it could be.

Best:
Terranigma - How can such a clumsy game (in today's standards) have such a touching ending? Too awesome plot for little things like writing to ruin it, perhaps.

Crisis Core - DMW, I forgive you. Stupid, cutesy sky-phobia, I forgive you too. Cloud's angst, finally makes sense. This game overall fixed so many things in the VII Compilation.

Worst ending: Armored Core 4 - I didn't even know who the guy in the final boss battle was.

Dont know about best or most disturbing, but my worst had to be Shadow of Colossus. I was like, "I played all this time for that?"

BTW-does anyone else agree that they should make a pc version?

Best for me was actually Uncharted 2, it was just fun.

Worst was Borderlands, because there was no ending.

Actually, there has been talk regarding there being a 4th ancient, the one with yellow magik that was to be explored. Also, Mantorok is still alive, albeit underpowered. It is possible he could still manipulate people's lives again or that the events in ED were all a part of his plan. So there is at least reasonable potential for a squeal, if written correctly.

Killer 7: I love mind-frag shows and books etc. so when I got to the ending and all the pieces came together (yes, I'm one of those freaks that actually understood K7) , I was just awestruck.
Honestly I couldn't see why it wasn't clear. Sure there was a lot of symbolism, but when you put it all together it was pretty easy to find out what everything meant. Even so, it was a fantastic ending, really put things for a spin and is totally what I love in an ending.

For me, the ending for Killer 7 I would have to say is fantastic, definitely one of the best.

Worst Ending would definitely have to be the newer Prince of Persia. All that work she put through all for nothing, you can see the look of 'wtf did we do all that for' on her face as the scene cuts away. Almost makes you feel as though that whole game was a waste of time.
