Apparently with Donkey Kong, the original wording in japanese was monkey/gorilla Kong, but when they tried to translate it over, the accidentally translated to Donkey instead of Gorilla/monkey...... (Kong being said gorilla's name) Hence: Donkey Kong is probably supposed to be Gorilla Kong, but someone screwed up.duchaked said:ooh edgy AND original indeedCodeman90 said:ooohhhh. Honestly I think that Metal Gear Solid and Donkey Kong are really odd names. I Like the Donkey Kong Country series but really, DONKEY Kong?
try that attitude in the real world, and you will meet great success in life
anyway on topic...lolll
I never understood "DONKEY Kong"...it seems silly but I guess when you're a giant gorilla throwing barrels no one's gonna say anything about it
honestly many titles these days I don't think are by any definition outright BAD (if anything, adjectives such as tacky, generic, silly, egregious, pompous, oxidizing...are more appropriate)
waiiit has anyone discussed any of the "best" game names yet? guess society tends to jump for the negative haha
The game holding second place on that list is awesome.Singularly Datarific said:http://www.gamerevolution.com/features/worst_game_names

Well, to me, Halo is just another FPS and not in a sort of genre I can't relate to. It's science fiction, but the cold kind of sci-fi that lacks the subtle 'something' to make me wanna play it. I will use examples, and please understand that this is just MY opinion. (I couldn't give a rat's ass about how much hate this'll draw from Halo fanatics.)AshPox said:whats wrong with halo?FalloutJack said:Me no likey Halo
First all, you're painting everything with a really broad brush here. Not every fan is a raving lunatic who thinks it's the best thing ever. I'm a Halo fan... I've played and beaten every game in the series, and have done some of the multi-player as well. I enjoy the story and the game play, but I know it's not the best game ever and that everyone is entitled to their opinions.FalloutJack said:Well, to me, Halo is just another FPS and not in a sort of genre I can't relate to. First, it's a sci-fi FPS, but so are other FPSs that I've played that I ultimately more liked. Why? Because I like Doom and AVP games. Yes, it has the war and an alien race, but it's not one I can relate to. I know it's all very nice-looking, but it's just not the same for me.
Second, it's all too bloody serious, isn't it? War is hell, I know, but the only giggles you get out of Halo is Machinima. Someone had to go and work like hell, basically, to make this anything you can really crack a smile about. The rest is blam blam shooty Christ-we're-going-to-die business.
Third, the hype. Lemme tell you, I didn't need a loud guy from Australia to know that "Dear god, anyone into this game is on it like a sun worshipper at high noon.". I don't go for the blatant hype of the war-of-powersuited-guys-I-don't-care-about. When I think powersuits, I think Fallout.
So basically, what's wrong with Halo is that it just doesn't look fun to me, or at least not as much fun as I could be having with other games, even if they don't have the same graphics. And I'm especially turned off about all the people talking about it when it does nothing for me.
We're likely not going to find any name worse than this. I didn't play it for many reasons, one of which being the name.kawaiiamethist said:Infinite Undiscovery for the fail. If you're going to make up words, at least make it relevant to the story.
have you even played halo before, or are you just basing your opinions on the opinion of others?FalloutJack said:what's wrong with Halo is that it just doesn't look fun to meAshPox said:whats wrong with halo?FalloutJack said:Me no likey Halo

Yeah, well, if you want "Left 2 Die" to feature only 2 survivors. Valve made the title into a kind of a joke with having 4 survivors and 4 in the title.Mordaci said:Would be better for a second game yes, but I dont like games that fuck around with their titles.Pacifist Chris said:'left 4 dead 2', am I the only one who thought that 'left 2 die' would have sounded much better?
Final fantasy is a perfect example
They made left 4 dead and I want l4d 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 not left 2 die left 3 rape left 4 ...dead
Does that even count as a pun?Desert Tiger said:Best: Battlefield: Bad Company - bringing an age-old pun to a new market.

Final Fantasy 10 2
I win!
First direct sequel to FF. It was a supplement to X and did not need to be the next main numbered game. When you think about it. X-2 Can be read as: ten part 2. As in the next part of the same story. I think I'm one of the < 1% of FF fans that actually liked X-2 due to the reusing of Spira and a continuation of the story of X which was definitely a plus. Plus I fell for Yuna...ahem...
If it was called FFXI then a little more outrage would have been heard for making the game a main part of the numbered series. Also, we would be staring at FFXV if it was part of the main series.
I understood the numbering after about five seconds of reading the back of the box. And staring at Yuna's ass *cough*
Glad to be of help.
