As everyone has inevitably seen, there is a massive Bio vs Beth poll running. And, as usual, everyone is attacking Bethesda with misinformation. So here we go:

Myth: Bethesda made all those terrible (and they are) games like WET, Rogue Warrior, etc.
Fact: Bethesda Game Studios has only made TES and FO3 in recent years. So those terrible games are published by Zenimax, the publishing arm masquerading under the Bethesda name. That's like saying Bioware is terrible because they "made" Spore (EA published it).

Myth: Bethesda's pumping out too many games lately. They are all going to be awful.
Fact: Bethesda (BGS)didn't make NV, and isn't making Hunted, Rage, or Brink.

Myth: Bethesda's games don't have a backstory/story and have no depth.
Fact: The Elder Scrolls games have an insane amount of lore. Their lore people can't even keep track of everything. See the Imperial Library: http://www.imperial-library.info/

That's about it right now. I just can't stand misinformation but I still adore Bioware, so don't take this as an attack :)

Agreed. I've only claimed the Bethesda make Fallout 3 and the Elder Scroll games. I knew New Vegas wasn't made by them.
Probably why it pissed me off more. When ever I played that game, my Bethesda instincts would lead me to wander off the given path and, get killed by a swarm of mutant wasps or a herd of mutant rhinos.

I love both of them to bits but Bethesda should make sure their third party devs have time to make games that actually work.

the lore was written by the OLD BETHESDA which was fired after Bethesda was bought out and replaced with its current staff. So in essence, they didn't write shit.

I'm genuinely curious about this, do you have a link?

for me....every time I play a Bethesda game, I always feel that something is missing and cannot point it out.

The problem with Bethesda games is the scope they always try to reach. Which isn't a bad thing, since there the only dev trying to make rpgs like that.

Note: I love Bioware, but Biowares' model is to have a good story + good gameplay hand in hand. Betheda is about making large environments and a wide choice of character options with the focus on exploration. Honestly both companies have totally different ways of going about making RPG's.

I'll take a Bethesda game over a Bioware game any day.
I didn't like the two games that everyone considers the Messiah that were made by Bioware.
I am talking of course about DAO and ME2.

I don't consider either to be the Messiah, but they have good stories.
I do like Bethesda though it is when I think 'Fuck all I just want to wander around and do what ever I feel like'. When I think 'I want a story that I know will kickass and have awsome characters' I think Bioware.
I don't get why everyone needs to compare both are great in their own ways. Although I do want the companies to compare, because if they compete to make a better game then WE are the ones who win. Ok they win too by swimming in our money but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean.

That doesn't change the fact that Bethesda pumps out their games riddled with bugs, and because they don't give their third party developers ample time to at least leave their games fully playable, they are worst than Bioware in my eyes.
Every game I've played including and after Oblivion that is related to Bethesda in any way has been bug ridden, where I haven't encountered 1 game breaking bug in any Bioware game.

Once Bioware gave up the Infinity engine and the D&D rule book I've found their games to be pretty boring. Pretty, but boring.

You know that 90% of the community didnt even refer to those factual inaccuracy when making their decision, a great many just prefer Bioware games over Bethesda.

I feel relatively smug that I already knew this. And I am usually the one who knows jack shit about videogames.

Haven't played a Bioware game that kept me hooked yet. Mass Effect was to bland for me, I barely raised an eyebrow at those other recent ones like Dragon Age(I could be wrong, but I am sure they made that.)

Oblivion remains my all time favorite game (and I haven't even played it with mods).

Fallout 3 was very good, just not great. I felt like there was more depth in Oblivion.

Well at least I'm glad that I never believed any of the myths. Come to think of it I hadn't even heard of the myths until you mentioned them.

Same here.

Not saying that I dislike Bethesda, but some people simply prefer BioWare. Bethesda makes their games differently from BioWare and vice-versa. BioWare is more linear and story based, while Bethesda makes open world games.
