*snip* - more ramblings.
Nine posts in a barely two page thread.

man, you're all kinds of crazy here.

Somebody got a zinger on Justin Bieber, just comment and move along. No need to white knight for him for the entire thread he's not going to see it.

5) Bill Gates is the most generous person to have ever lived. (Donation wise)

I just wanted to throw that last point out there for no other reason than Bill gets a lot of unreasonable hate too.
From whom, exactly? The fashion police?

Edit: If Bill Gates was, indeed, pursued by the fashion police, I don't think many of us could say it was "unreasonable".
You quoted the wrong guy : P
Well then curse your magical machine and its arcane and mystical language code.

amm... if you google around for a bit, he "suposedly" donated 1 million dollars... or more...

i dont really think this is relevant, just another aspect of the hate machine, i dont like that kid, i dont like his songs, i dont like what he represents

but this is just ridiculous, how much money did the guy that made the reply donated??
Ever read that old tale in the bible about the pauper and the noble? The noble gave a HUGE amount of money to the church, but it was small
compared to the rest of his wealth. A poor woman witha Hilda came along and donated a coin, one of which she had little of. She gave more to the church than the noble could. So what's 1mil to the fortune Justin gets as eye candy for teens?
And yet another person who takes the bible too literally.

Lets again point out that the kid donated 1 million dollars. How many bottles of water you think that bought for the stranded and homeless? How many toothbrushes, band aids, and other necessities did Justin buy for them? How many people will be kept safe and alive because of that money? Thats damn, damn, damn impressive and mature of him to donate to Japan, even if its "only" 1 million dollars.

Being human is having greed as well as altruism. There is no man devoid of greed, and money is the great corrupter. It may not be true of everyone, but its damn true of most.

You did tell him he should. Not directly, but you implied, and said he's a bad person because he's morally justifying not donating what YOU consider enough money. There are reports he donated a million dollars, how is that not enough for efforts from one person?

And again, tweets can equal money. Stephen Colbert (not that long ago) raised money for a charity (I think it was Haiti) through retweets. So lets say JB isnt doing that now, thats fine. But lets say he does. And he tweets He sends his prayers out to Japan, and for everyone who retweets it, the recording company Bieber works for will donate money. I guess his tweets are worthless then.

Its very simple really. You're getting in his face cause he sends out prayers. He decided to cope with it in his own way, and you and others have to tear him apart for it.

Oh, it's fine! It's not a huge deal. I apologise for being too harsh in talking to you.

I just don't like to see people dehumanise him. They treat him as if he is some whipping boy that everyone can be disrespectful towards and remain "hip". It's as if there is some unwritten rhetoric saying:

"It is not okay to bully people and act like a bastard to people. Unless they are more wealthy than you, are more known than you and do something you don't enjoy".

And it is bullying. The amount of ill-will, violence, accusations and sheer insults that have been directed at him is huge. If this was happening to anyone else it would be a crime and everyone would be up in arms. But make this person unpopular and famous and all of a sudden it's fine.

Everyone (excluding a very small minority of people) deserves a basic amount of fundamental respect.

It doesn't sit well with me. Especially when it is over things like this. The kid makes a comment about Japan and uses religious implications and everyone is up in arms. "DONATE YOUR MONEY INSTEAD!". Well, he has donated his money and a few sites affiliated with him are doubling everyone's donations. I just find it childish and it's gone past the point of being funny.

One thing I don't think the Escapists understand is that saying your prayers are with someone is synonymous with saying your thoughts are with someone. It expresses sympathy, empathy and good will. There is nothing wrong with it.

It's not "moral/emotional support" because nobody is going to hear it.

I don't get it.

What is this link supposed to show us?

EDIT: Isn't it another poster who says 'your prayers are worthless?

EDIT 2: So a guy is telling a rich kid to donate money? This is the big deal?

EDIT 3: LAST EDIT, I SWEAR!!!!! Check some more sources, he actually has donated money. As a matter of fact, he is matching all of us common folks donations to red cross. So the more we pay, the more he matches.

Sucks when people we hate for no real reason do things that are kinda decent, eh?
I'm quoting you because I think we may be the only sane people on this thread.

Seriously, are we so desperate to hate Justin Bieber that we jump on everything little thing he says, searching for flaws to exploit?

This is pathetic, guys. Grow up.

Yes it is. He posted 'My prayers go out to you!' on his twitter, people read his twitter because *OHMYGOSH* he has fans in Japan.. And still: praying is thoughtful, whether it works or not, because you've got good intentions doing it.

Did you guys even read what he wrote? I can break it down to you.

1: I love Japan and it's culture.
2: My prayers go out to them
3: WE all need to help.

That is what he said, specifically, that HE was praying for them, which, frankly, is none of your God damn business, and that EVERYONE, which he is a part of, should -help-.

So if you're confused in that I think this is all about antitheism, then yeah, I am, because that is what it is. The kid is praying for them and directly -helping- them. He is also not telling anyone to pray for them, he's telling everyone to help them.

Are people really applauding someone that responded to a plea to help those that are suffering from a natural disaster with a "Go spend your own money. I'm not giving them a dime"? Not a fan of Bieber in the slightest but he's head and shoulders above this Mr. Vincent.

He said no such thing. My prayers go out to him. < see that period? That signifies the end of a sentence. That is the end of a thought.

Two sentences, two thoughts. I am praying for them. We need to help them.

In your warped little brain, this somehow means: I am praying for them, but I wont help them.

Plus, the funny thing is that it's a confirmed fact that he a:prayed for them, and b: HELPED them.

EDIT: uhh.. ok nevermind. You seem to be on sanity's side. My apologies.

I lol'd.

Babs got smacked down for his inane comment as he should have been.
Also, would anyone care to reference these 'numerous sources' for the supposed 'millions'?

Come on, let's see some reliable information!

Quick google search has the info. Apparently he's doubling the donations of everyone on his fan site for the next 24 hours.

Well thats unnecessary.

Its this kinda thing that makes people think the internet is full of assholes. I'm sure that if someone else like.. um... I dont know. Lets say... John Travolta (I dont know) says they want to send prayers. I wonder how many people would jump on him for that statement.
Thats the reason i like internet, people are not so pathetic that will fake their what they think for the sake of "being good" or have manners so you wont flame an idiot and u will make him feel less like an idiot... Really i hate how much people fake themselves in real life.

But ye we should all talk, "hello my dear lovely neighbor, how is your fabulous day?"

Arent ppl fed up with lies from the entire entertainment industry, how more illusions they need...
I dont feel the need to be mean to people for no goddamn reason. Not even you. Maybe you're an angry person?
