Fable 3. They "stream-lined" the interface by hacking off extra fun features (many clothes, emotes, ect.), leaving the game feeling shallow. The playable menus were uninteresting and didn't add anything. More often then not, they were almost annoying, tagging on extra time to the simple task of saving my game or selecting a new weapon. I felt like a three-year-old; the game just never stops holding your hand.

The story is dull and cliche, I didn't latch on to or care about the fate of my companions (which I absolutely expect RPGs to make me do) or those I had lent my "promises" too throughout the story. This time around, the dog feels tacked-on. You never notice him and he never adds a single thing to the game (besides jabbering non-stop when near treasure or dig sites).

Oh, and I glitched through the ground two missions from the end of the game and had to restart, but by that point, I didn't even care anymore. It had stopped being fun.

FFXIII was, by far, the biggest gaming disappointment of my life since... well, since FFXII actually. Shocking

Ok, the year is coming to a close, and many great games have come out, but I bet there are many of you out there who are disappointed with how some turned out.

So tell us, what were your biggest disappointments of '10 in gaming...

(and no one says Alpha Protocol because it was awesome DX)
(or Shattered Memories)
Sorry, I'm going to have to say Alpha Protocol.

I remember seeing it in a Game Informer premiere and thinking, "That looks pretty cool. Can't wait to get that."

Then it got delayed... several times. Still had some hope.

Then the actual game came out and shattered my distant hopes for a decent game.

I really can't see why everyone hated it.

The story was good

The Characters were good

Gameplay was fun(ish) (if you have a sneak skill)

and I didn't see too many glitches.

but the boss fights did suck.

I've never been so disapointed about a game before until Final Fantasy XIII. I'm not the first to say this and probably not the last in this thread, but it was just not as good as we expected. Good thing Final Fantasy XIV came out to soften the blo....oh wait...

FFXIII. Not that I had any big expectations, but I didn't think it'd actually be that bad.

Splinter Cell: Conviction. I was super excited to finally get to play it a couple weeks ago. Big meh.

Oh and on another note: Porn Magazine gathering in a game, even when its "Classic" porn appropriate to the time, shows that you have no respect for your customers or characters.
I quite enjoyed finding the random boobies actually, distracted me from the shitty gameplay.

I missed all the customisation from Fable 2 as well. The menus were pure sucky too, there's nothing wrong with a menu interface as long as it's easy to navigate and makes sense (Resi 4 being a great example). Running to and fro in those bloody rooms just made me not want to ever equip anything.

Metro 2033. My complaint isn't really about the game as it was bu the game I wish it was. That is, completely without any mutant/monster bullshit. I think it would be far more interesting if you were only up against human enemies with human capabilities. This can also add to the suspense/horror far more that fantastical mosters, as games like Condemned prove.

This is an old complaint with me though, going back to Far Cry. One day I might get a tattoo saying "Fuck Trigens". And then, of rourse, Crytek pull the same shit again by putting aliens in Crysis. Who in that company has the hard-on for non-humans enemies? Well, at least the aliens weren't as bad... ...too bad they devote a whole level to fucking around in an anti-gravity nightmare with some infinite-respawning machines of death popping up from time-to-time.

Also, seconded on the Red Dead Redemption not coming to PC. Guess Rockstar couldn't be bothered phoning in another shitty port after GTA4.
The book also includes the mutants, though, so the game would have been departing from the original source more than it already has had they taken out the mutants. Though I think they could have made them feral humans instead and they'd have had largely the same effect.

Though the game itself wasn't a letdown in my opinion, I think Mafia II could have done a lot more than it did.

FFXIII. It wasn't so much a bad game for me, it was just way too linear, and had almost no challenge.

Wouldn't want to play it again, that's for sure.

I quite enjoyed it, but I never played any of the others. I'm presuming the reason people weren't into it was that it didn't live up to the earlier games?

Bioshock 2. Single player just wasn't captivating, and the multiplayer had extremely limited replay value.

Yep. This. Lag and stuttering killed this game. Fucking console ports all over the place. Do any developers make games exclusively for PC anymore? Apart from indie games like minecraft etc, most games are just being ported especially from the Xbox360 on to the PC and PS3.

Halo: Reach. Awful. It disgraced the Halo franchise even more than the Halo RTS game Ensemble tried to pull off. Multiplayer seemed really bad compared to Halo 3 as well.

Console version aren't much better tbh. Laggiest 360 game I've ever played, and the PS3 version is completely unplayable, people can't even get into games.

Yeah I know. But I really want a nice, semi-scripted, modern-setting, corridor shooter which is set in a unique environment and doesn't involve some kind of dick-sucking alien/monster. I love Far Cry 2 but wish there was a linear contempory to it.
The CoD games don't come anywhere near due to them being scripted up the asshole. You're led through the entire level and have no chance of doing aything different. Crysis has one absolutely glorious level where it dumps you at the edge of a massive square map and tells you to take out something on an island and something on a bridge. Then it just leaves you to do it as you want. Sneak about on foot, steal a jeep, hijack a boat, carve a path of destruction towards the objective - it's entirely your choice. Far Cry 2 was the same for me just the battles felt a bit less cinematic due to their entirely unscripted nature.
But Crysis had so much potential, before fucking itself up the ass with that alien mission and everything after.
