Sorry, I'm going to have to say Alpha Protocol.zombiejoe said:Ok, the year is coming to a close, and many great games have come out, but I bet there are many of you out there who are disappointed with how some turned out.
So tell us, what were your biggest disappointments of '10 in gaming...
(and no one says Alpha Protocol because it was awesome DX)
(or Shattered Memories)
I really can't see why everyone hated it.Gahars said:Sorry, I'm going to have to say Alpha Protocol.zombiejoe said:Ok, the year is coming to a close, and many great games have come out, but I bet there are many of you out there who are disappointed with how some turned out.

I remember seeing it in a Game Informer premiere and thinking, "That looks pretty cool. Can't wait to get that."
Then it got delayed... several times. Still had some hope.
Then the actual game came out and shattered my distant hopes for a decent game.
I quite enjoyed finding the random boobies actually, distracted me from the shitty gameplay.Vie said:Oh and on another note: Porn Magazine gathering in a game, even when its "Classic" porn appropriate to the time, shows that you have no respect for your customers or characters.
I missed all the customisation from Fable 2 as well. The menus were pure sucky too, there's nothing wrong with a menu interface as long as it's easy to navigate and makes sense (Resi 4 being a great example). Running to and fro in those bloody rooms just made me not want to ever equip anything.Clueless Hero said:Fable 3. They "stream-lined" the interface by hacking off extra fun features (many clothes, emotes, ect.), leaving the game feeling shallow. The playable menus were uninteresting and didn't add anything. More often then not, they were almost annoying, tagging on extra time to the simple task of saving my game or selecting a new weapon. I felt like a three-year-old; the game just never stops holding your hand.
.
The book also includes the mutants, though, so the game would have been departing from the original source more than it already has had they taken out the mutants. Though I think they could have made them feral humans instead and they'd have had largely the same effect.Casimir_Effect said:Metro 2033. My complaint isn't really about the game as it was bu the game I wish it was. That is, completely without any mutant/monster bullshit. I think it would be far more interesting if you were only up against human enemies with human capabilities. This can also add to the suspense/horror far more that fantastical mosters, as games like Condemned prove.
This is an old complaint with me though, going back to Far Cry. One day I might get a tattoo saying "Fuck Trigens". And then, of rourse, Crytek pull the same shit again by putting aliens in Crysis. Who in that company has the hard-on for non-humans enemies? Well, at least the aliens weren't as bad... ...too bad they devote a whole level to fucking around in an anti-gravity nightmare with some infinite-respawning machines of death popping up from time-to-time.
Also, seconded on the Red Dead Redemption not coming to PC. Guess Rockstar couldn't be bothered phoning in another shitty port after GTA4.
I quite enjoyed it, but I never played any of the others. I'm presuming the reason people weren't into it was that it didn't live up to the earlier games?binvjoh said:Splinter Cell: Conviction. I was super excited to finally get to play it a couple weeks ago. Big meh.
I can not dispute that.ArkhamJester said:indisputably final fantasy 13 and Metroid other M for the fail.
Yep. This. Lag and stuttering killed this game. Fucking console ports all over the place. Do any developers make games exclusively for PC anymore? Apart from indie games like minecraft etc, most games are just being ported especially from the Xbox360 on to the PC and PS3.Pirate Kitty said:The PC port of Call of Duty: Black Ops.
dude i have no idea what your smokeing lol i mean how can you cay halo reach multipleyer is worst then halo 3? i mean of all the stuff to rant about you choose that? lol crazy boychemicalreaper said:Halo: Reach. Awful. It disgraced the Halo franchise even more than the Halo RTS game Ensemble tried to pull off. Multiplayer seemed really bad compared to Halo 3 as well.
Console version aren't much better tbh. Laggiest 360 game I've ever played, and the PS3 version is completely unplayable, people can't even get into games.Nexoram said:Yep. This. Yeah I know. But I really want a nice, semi-scripted, modern-setting, corridor shooter which is set in a unique environment and doesn't involve some kind of dick-sucking alien/monster. I love Far Cry 2 but wish there was a linear contempory to it.theSovietConnection said:The book also includes the mutants, though, so the game would have been departing from the original source more than it already has had they taken out the mutants. Though the game itself wasn't a letdown in my opinion, I think Mafia II could have done a lot more than it did.
