I was massively disapointed with GTA4. It recieved so much praise, 10/10/10/10 everywhere, going around screaming "GAME OF THE YEAR GAME OF THE YEAR!"

Initially, yeah, it was aliright. But soon after I was insanely bored and never got around to finishing the game. It took way to long for the game to get going and the game was so realistic compared to it's predecessors, with the car physics really annoying to handle and Nico either flying 50 feet out of the car at 5mph (though that was hilarious) or stumbling aroud like he's drunk when he was slightly hit by a car, that it was just boring after a while. The weapons were dull, no fun weapons like the dildo or katana, all of them were just upgrades of another one and that's it. There weren't any fun cheats to use, hell there wasn't even an "invincible" cheat or "no wanted level ever" cheat.

On top of that, the story that everyone was saying "It's up to 'The Godfather' level in storytelling!", I stopped giving a crap about it relatively quickly. Nico was a friggin' schizophrenic psyco, one minute agreeing to be the hitman of a mob boss and the next yelling at his gay friend (I forgot his name) that he's trying to be incognito, when he was asked if he wanted to go boating.

Overall, I was hugely disapointed with the game. And the huge-ass install for the Ps3 version didn't help either.
You summed up my thought about GTA4 exactly, you only missed the part were missions consist of 3 categories. Kill someone, chase someone then kill him, or steal something.

Not to mention the annoying friend system. NO, I don't want to go to the frickin' Burgershot.

Also, a contestant, Alpha Protocol, looked good in the beginning but soon realised after release that it wasn't even worth 30$.

Hype. Every game gets hyped up so much that I just HAVE to buy it and then...let down. See: Just Cause 2, Crackdown 2, Far Cry 2- notice how these are all sequels?
They seem to be spending more money in hyping then expanding them game and adding more features...

Halo 2.

I had never played halo:CE and I had at the time been hearing how much of a gaming revelation Halo was and 2 pushed it mindbogglingly further. So I was excited.

Then I got it, and i was like WTF? people are getting excited over this? Its just a shooter with controls that have been reduced down to being very usable on a gamepad. then I put it online, and I was like WTF? it took a sequel to get support for a 10-15 year old "innovation"

I was expecting it to be the most intensely enjoyable experience i had ever seen in a game, and all i really found was people having to add the disclaimer of "For a console shooter" at the end of everything it was supposed to be great for. Its got great multiplayer "for a console shooter" its got great controls "for a console shooter" Its got great replayability "for a console shooter"

Just my opinion which of course is worthless. So any halo fanboys, save your hate. Your entitled to your opinion of how Halo is better than the second coming of sliced bread, just as I am entitled to my feeling that having to add "for a console shooter" doesnt excuse it for being innovative of things that had been around for a decade before.

Anyone seen the original trailer for Pokemon: Battle Revolution?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djMyzIiYENo
(Mega noobish question - I haven't yet figured out how to post videos. I've tried [ youtube], as it was on a previous forum I was on, but that does not seem to work)

Anyway, the gameplay in that looks so good. So dynamic and fluent. And also there is damage to the scenery. If anyone has played Battle Revolution, then you know that the actual game is but a shadow of this. No destroyable scenery, which is a shame, but the biggest disappointment is how...I don't know how to put it...'unfluent' the gameplay is. A Pokemon will use a move, then a pause, then the other Pokemon reacts, then a pause, then it faints.

Also, Super Smash Bros Brawl. I don't know if this is because I was waiting for it for so long, but when that came out I was disappointed. I think it was because Nintendo pushed the UK release date back about 4 times, and as a result the game was reasoned nearly a year later than it had originally been stated to. That game was the main reason I bought a Wii.

I thought the MP was ok if you didn't have a mic plugged in and drowned out the voices coming from the tv with music

All of these and MW2 - I finished the single player and went "what the HELL was that?!"

Half Life 2. Including all of the episodes.
The first one was pretty good, but after all the praise it got I was expecting it to be great.
It was average at best.
I've never read a bigger fail comment in my life. You're among less than 100 people on earth who dislike that game.

MW2 with all the hackers and whatnot. Campaign didn't explain anything about the end of MW either.
"And whatnot", look at you with posting on forums (I'm not being weird, I know Conspiracyz ot however you spell that)

The campaign ending (I assume your talking about the airplane) Was a concept for spec ops. It had no relation to the story.

Also this, MW2 is sad now, the online was built up to be the new halo and its a broken mess now.

And me disagreeing with you makes my comment a "fail"?
Have you ever heard of the term opinion? It means I can think whatever I want, so get over it and accept it. Making snide comments like that is useless and bothersome.

I gotta go with spore, the early game build looked so cool, I with they had released it like that.

Seriously, if you have half an hour to kill, watch this video, this is what Spore was shaping up to be in 2005.

Compare that to what we got.
I actually died a little inside when I realized we could of had this rather than what we got.
How the bloody hell did they screw up this concept so badly?

GTA IV. Too short compared to San Andreas, 'Friends' always calling you up to hang out every few minutes, trying to add a love interest that wasn't interesting.

Saints Row 2. The first one was somewhat enjoyable, but they killed the story in the second one. Also allowing the character to talk was a letdown, and making the city needlessly big. Worst though was removing the user playlist radio option, which was one of the reasons why I liked the first one!

Two Worlds was so disappointing. I remember reading in Gameinformer how it had this "cool" and "accessible" magic system, and that it had this whole thing where it actually changed seasons, and things like trees and plants and grass would only grow back in the spring. I traded it in the day after I got it.

FF12. Partly due to my own ignorance,as I was expecting Kingdom Hearts-like gameplay, but the story and combat were pretty disappointing regardless.

The Force Unleashed, we were all advertised a huge epic Force powered extrrrrrrravaganza, I stopped liking it at the point where I found out that really cool Force lightning power had to be unlocked.

Mega Man 2.
If that's the best game in the series, the worst must be something Satan himself has nightmares about.

I know it's only because it was praised for being good back in the day, and I suck at it, but it was a let down to me all the same.
