Am I the ONLY one who LIKED the Fallout 3 ending!
No. Now that I think about it, the ending itself is good with the moral choice and all that, but I don't like the fact that whatever you do, kill yourself or become a selfish jerk, you die and don't get to play anymore. At first I simply thought that I could just leave Lyon there to go in and have me escape on a timelimit or whatnot, but no, I could not. That sucked. And it didn't get better when I realised that my character wasn't dead if I bought a DLC för 800 microsoftpoints.

{I... don't even know what actually happened... it was just so... confusing.}
Blasphemy. Bayonetta had possibly the most satisfying ending of any game I've played in the last few years.

This is Bayonetta. Why are you focusing on the plot instead of riding magical motorcycles across space shuttles while they take off to go fight God in space?

Halo 2 for sure.

"Master Chief. You mind telling me what you're doing aboard that ship?"

"Sir, I'm finishing this fight."

THE END

me:"...Where the hell is the rest of the game?!! Is my CD broken?"

I have played several games with shitty endings, but one ending was so bad, so anticlimatic that i thought 'WTF!!!!!!!!'

The ending of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadows of Chernobyl is simply terrible. (There may be more than 1 ending, but i have not played it through more than once) You finally come to your goal, that wish-granting huge-ass rock thingy, and here is your wish 'I WANT TO BE RICH', Then you hallisunate (Spelling?) that it rains goldcoins and get crushed under a pile of rubble, THE END.

The game was extremely good in my opinion, but the ending ruined EVERYTHING. I WANTED TO KILL STRELOK FOR F**** SAKE!!!!!!!... But now i think that you actually ARE Strelok >_>
Haha! There are actually quite a few different endings for that game; you got that one because you must have collected quite a lot of money so the game judges you as being greedy :p

And yeah, the whole 'twist' was that *SPOILER* you actually are the character you're sent to kill *END SPOILER*. I thought that was pretty cool.

Assassins Creed 2.
You find out from an ancient dead alien's hologram thing that there's this threat that's going to destroy the world if you don't stop it. And apparantly the Templars are NOT this threat. So what is it? Who knows, the alien doesn't want to tell the future hero for some reason. And she had to know, I mean, she knew exactly where you'd be and what you'd be doing 100's of years after her death at this exact date. So yeah, it was really, really, crappy.
NOT AN ALIEN.
Really? She said stuff like "your kind" and that she was "more advanced in time". She also said that they were not gods. So either she's an alien or a time-traveling advanced human. Either way kind of sucks. Also, whether she was or was not an alien, it was a really crap ending.
She's neither. She's a member of the first advanced species that evolved on earth, similar to the myth of Atlantis. Her race created humans as a worker race.

Why didn't you get the game of the year addition of Fallout 3 that comes with all the dlc. Anyway a weak ending for me isn't so bad if the events leading up to it are epic. And Fallout 3's certainly were. Liberty Prime ftw!

For me it's the worst ending is the first Warhammer 40k Dawn of War game mainly because you didn't get an awesome cgi video like the opening.

Instead they made it with crappy in game sprites.

yeah the makers actually sdent out an appology and promised to never have an actual "end" their games again
Which shows they failed to understand why people hated the ending so much. It wasn't the ending, but the major, major plot holes that were involved in it.

Anyway:

Save the Wasteland and sacrifice yourself to do it by going into an irradiated room, kindly ignoring your friends the ghoul and the mutant who could do it for you, considering that they are immune to radiation.
Lets' go treasure hunting and get us some loot, oh, so the Vault is actually a portal, and there is a monster to kill, it died, the end...
Oh, so I side with the Mages, Orsino goes crazy and we kill him, Meredith goes crazy and we kill her, now we have to run for it. Okay let's side with the Templars. Orsino goes crazy and we kill him, Meredith goes crazy and we kill her, now we have to run for it.

Fuck you Bioware and your illusion of choice.
Okay so we get the piece of Eden in real life not just in the Animus, and we stab our friend without any choice, wait, did I just spend 15 hours to progress half an hour into the series actual plot?
Final Boss, takes five seconds to beat and it cannot kill you... you also cannot miss when you fire. It made up for it in the epilogue though.
YES. OH MY GOD YES. Especially Dragon Age 2 and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. And Gears of War 2. Damn, those are some golden choices Legion. Wish there was a way I could give you a star or thumbs-up or something.

For me, my biggest end-game let down (aside from the salt-coated ass fudge Legion mentioned) would be "Pariah", and to get one more relevant, the ending to LA Noire.

Pariah (Xbox) Ending
What the hell? ...What just-? What the fuck did I just-? ....WHAT?!
I PLAYED THROUGH THE WHOLE GAME FOR THIIIIS?!

After bullshit like that, the ending to LA Noire doesn't seem so bad, really.
Though to me it still sucks bad.
LA Noire Ending *OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS*
To quote another player: "The ending was definitely abrupt and disappointing. The character change was abrupt, the sudden character derailing adultery scandal was abrupt. Both of those sucked. It almost ruined Cole's character for me. It's like, he goes back to his wife without even a good explanation as to why he decides to throw all his "good moral guy" thing out the window and cheat on her, and he continues to stay with Elsa after that too. What the hell?"

Weak story writing.

Rockstar: "But you don't know how Cole's marraige was, so you don't know if-"
No. Stop right there. That's EXACTLY true. You don't know shit, and you're never given a good explanation for it either = Weak story writing

Rockstar: "You weren't surprised by the twist in his character?"
I was. I was also surprised they decided to give us that twist involving his flaming military career (heehee) JUST BEFORE HE GETS WASHED AWAY. What the fuck kind of writing is that? 'Oh, and by the way, I was kinda fucked up before.' BLAM! = Weak story writing

I would say it was all for nothing, but ultimately they did stop the baddies...for maybe an hour. You see, despite doing what they did, NOTHING was revealed to the public, which also means NOTHING will last. HOWEVER, there's plenty of games that focus on the moment and not entirely on the future (God Eater Burst, Arkham Asylum, Mass Effect 2 (kinda) just to name three) and that's not always a bad thing. You make a story, you conclude it. Not everything is supposed to spell out the future post-plot for the story's world.

BUT the idiotic and pretty much childish idea that realistic Film Noir (because that's how it's spelled, damn it) needs to end with the main character dieing or being shown to be an asshole is not true.
Rockstar/Fanboy: "You ***** and moan about the ending when it's true to the genre-"
SHUT YOUR FACE. I've watched classic noir flicks since I was a kid. Guess what? Not every one of them needs to have a downer ending. Some even managed a mostly happy ending. Noir is the feel of the story, the grit and grime of the mystery and the city it takes place in. Just because a lot of characters in noir are shitty human beings that does not mean the main character needs to be one in the end.
The idea a gritty, "realistic" story needs to end sadly or bitter sweet is childish, because only a childish mind with no concept of reality would think real life always ends that way.
[sub]And with Rockstar (as of late?) the company seems to be stuck in this mindset, even with GTA4's ending[/sub]

Also, yes, the ending to Red Dead Redemption sucked, but not because of how Marston died. It was because of how you took the son's place and had to find a fucking sidequest that led to a half-assed dual of "good vs bad" and then BAM credits. THAT was obvious crap.

Try it again and pay attention to Pancakeface.
I did, and fuck that noise. I didn't fight through an entire demonic army and die a thousand gruesome death just so some blind ***** could defeat the end boss and steal all MY glory!
Choice my dear friend.
You can kill her, and the old one.

To avoid spoiling the ending for everyone, and getting spat on in the street, I'll just say that I didn't like LA Noire's ending.

That's all I will say.

Fallout 3 ... Here's Colonel Big Boss dude ... here's your lazer pistola ... shoot him!

Front Mission Evolved ... "z0mg younglins, this entire way is my fault ... I will go sacrifice myself so I can make a way for, you are our only hope!" - charge into an AA turret, same turret that it would normally take only a few shots to destroy ... oh well ... grandpa, thanks for your sacrifice! ... then followed by a boss fight

DA 2 ... MAGES!!! TEMPLARS!!! Chooooooooooooooseeeeeeeee your destiny! .... "uh ... I pick ..." ... DOESN't MATTER ... FIIIIIIGHT both! (If you consider that a certain side decide to say fuck it, and use the same powers they were not supposed to use, meh).

I have no idew what you're talking about. Because I have Broken Steel. Meaning my Fallout 3 has no end. And it's still freaking awesome.

OT: Borderlands. I...seriously? You kill the giant big bad and then a ninja robot appears. At least give us some sequel conformation...
I've been wondering how Broken Steel works. Does your character somehow come back to life? Do you get a new character? Can you even use Broken Steel on your campaign if you elected to turn off the machine yourself? I considered getting it, but I'm not sure if I can play it with my character dead, and it would suck to have all that badass alien weaponry from Mothership Zeta and not be able to use it any more.

OT- Yeah, I wasn't happy with the ending, not so much for the heroic sacrifice, but for the pathetic end fight. Colonel Autumn and two gatling laser toting lackeys? Admittedly it was always going to be short, since I had the firelance and grim reapers sprint, but it could hardly even be called a fight! I melted the lackeys before they could fire a shot, and I never even got to shoot Autumn because Lyons took care of him while I was dropping the two gatling gunners. The whole thing took about 2 seconds out of V.A.T.S.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of grief over L.A. Noiures ending. Is it so bad that I should reconsider buying it, or is it like Red Dead Redemptions ending, where people don't like it because its tragic, or something like that?

So wait, you two didn't like the ending of Halo 2 just because it was a cliffhanger? More specially, Fanboy, do you just not like cliffhangers in general? They're a way of getting the reader/watcher/player hooked and wanted to know more, so that they buy the next installment. But they do the opposite for you? Or am I reading this wrong? I personally really liked Halo 2's ending- it had just enough suspense and awesomeness to be effective for me.
There is a difference between a cliffhanger where the game has happened and you know the ending is coming and a cliffhanger that is literally just breaking the end off the game without warning. At no point is there even a hint that I was anywhere near the end of the game. Halo didn't do it, it was clear that I was coming to the end. Why do you think they released halo 2.5? They retconned the ending so it wasn't clearly just the point where Microsoft told bungie to turn it into a trilogy.

Mass Effect 2. It was a great end... but it let me down and you know why? I'll tell you... because it ended... awesome games should never end... they should last forever :)).
