Biggest "what were they thinking?!" moment in games?

The side quest "Who are you to judge?" in Red Dead Redemption. It makes me wonder what the programmers were thinking, but it is hilarious as well. For those who haven't played, lets just say it involves a lonely man whose lifelong love has been kidnapped. Needless to say, it gets... interesting.

If you read the paper after completing it, it says he had the wedding. No one showed up...

On an unrelated note, is it me, or was the "California" side quest really depressing?

What, a guy slowly going insane as you can only watch? Yeah, it was pretty depressing.

Agreed. That was weird but for me it wasn't his look as much it was how they presented him. They knew we'd freak out. I feel toyed with. :/

Driving controls in Half Life 2 on consoles.

Everything else in the game was so well designed and then they give me the worst, most clumsy, counter-intuitive vehicle controls I have ever used.

I didn't even mind the controls that much...untill I had to balance the airboat ontop that friggin' concrete sewage pipe.

Also, the entirety of Metal Gear Solid 4. *eesh*

It's not a bad thing for you obviously. However when I'm trying to get a good Wager match going 9/10 times the clone is working with the other player. And this ruins it entirely.

Also in general online when you have a team full of clones your team tends to lose a lot no matter how good you do.

I've run into parties in the middle tier wager match. As long as they aren't in party chat they can join so while it discourages parties it works for people on splitscreen.

The entierty of inFamous. But if I have to pick just one moment, then it was the whole choice regarding if you save an individual or a group. Seriously, what WERE they thinking? It was so pointless that it was painful.

Also, I'd like to know what Bioware was on when they decided to replace the pretty awesome Mako sections of ME1 (I liked them anyway) with the utterly boring planet surface scanner in ME2.

OT: Platforming sections in 3D, particularly in serious games. You're Alan Wake, you're fleeing for your life, you can't jump for crap and when you land you slide around. Suddenly, there's a platforming sequence in front of you and evil demon crows are coming to eat your eyeballs. This isn't scary or suspenseful; this is dumb.

Lol, it isnt always bad, just usually. The platforming in ninja gaiden sigma works fine.

Although, in Ninja Gaiden, you can jump to save your life when held at gunpoint. IE Really Good.
