If the Bioshock movie is anything like the most recent game then the theaters will be stopping the movie every half hour so people in the theater can call M$ and get permission to keep watching it.

I explained this to you! Several times!

Anyway, we be derailing, bredren.
you did indeed, but trying to explain why you don't like my personal favorite game won't really compute no matter what you say.

It'd be like me saying I hated...uh...I actually don't know what your favorite game is.

The Longest Journey.

I can imagine why people wouldn't like that game. It's not for everyone.
I don't know what that is but if considering your taste in music and movies, I'd say its probably pretty odd :p

Could go either way. Given the source material, it has the potential to be really good if the story and characters are unchanged, also talented writers and actors would be needed to make the movie stand out from all the other shit game to movie adaptations.

ps: It's reading about the planned Gears of War adaptation thats scareing me at the moment.

I don't get all this pessimism when it comes to game movies, I mean sure there's never been a good game to movie adaptation since... well ever, but you can't just say a game to movie adaptation will be bad just because all the others have been, more factors come into play than just it being game to movie.

There's so much they could do with the story line of Bioshock, not just what little you see of it in the games, but the whole Rapture time-line. It would be so hard to make a bad movie out of the source material they have, Bioshock even as a game was centered around it's story and atmosphere.

Making "Bioshock: The Movie" bad would be like taking the Matrix and making two sequels that have essentially no story, consist mainly of action, sex scene and unimpressive set pieces, incorporate philosophical ideas that have no grounding in the Matrix mythos and have Keanu Reeves continue to play the main role.

It's a game to movie, it's going to be terrible. I have totally given up hope that there will ever be a good adaptation of it.

I mean, the only remotely enjoyable one was DOOM, and that was because it was entertainingly stupid.

And I think it might actually be classified as being in 'development hell' by now.
Oh come on! I'm I the only one who liked Silent Hill?

Actually i did enjoy Silent Hill a bit, although i think Pyramid Head was misused in it.

Also, I know not everyone will like it, but Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time with jake Gyllenhaal is looking like its going to be the first great game-to-movie adaptation so I'm really looking forward to that.

Personally i think if any video game is to be made into a film, it should be done internally by the game developers themselves. Like a Gears of War movie should only be made if Epic Games is going to render a feature length EPIC cutscene or something like that. I hate most of the "live-action" adaptations of most games cause they mostly suck.

Go for it, the Bioshock story line is actually one that I think I would quite like the issue with getting the story is that I have to play the game and it is the game part of it that I just couldn't get my head round. A movie would give me the story and I wouldn't have to play the game.

a live action Cowboy Bebop movie with Keanu Reeves as Spike
But... but... Spike can actually show emotion, he's a colorful character. Why must they ruin everything I love?

Edit: Forgot to contribute my opinion, oops. I think it will suck, just like any other game to movie adaptation. It won't help that I love the game and I will therefor criticize it even more harshly.

Tell me about it. Reeves shows less emotion than a rock... that had a stroke.

we'll see. If they do it well, it will be awesome. If they don't, well than it's not a great movie, but don't let it damage your view of the games.

I am quite the bioshock fan and I honestly have high hopes for it. Despite my disappointment with the completely awful movies based on videogames that came before, I'm still eagerly awaiting the Bioshock movie and the Mass Effect movie.

Nope I though that film was fantastic.

I could see it being really good as long as they keep close to the source material. It's got some very good themes in it regarding morals/utopian societies so I think they could do really well with it.

it's one of those either/or scenearios. if they do the movie right, it'll be bitchin.

if not, it'll downright suck and be an affront to anyone who ever played and enjoyed the game.
