Mass Effect would probably last you longer, but seeing as it's supposed to last for a trilogy I wouldn't jump on that without being sure you could run the next two as well. Bioshock, from what I'm gathering, is just fine sans the sequel in pretty much any regard, and I personally enjoyed the game. I can't vouch for how fun or annoying anything in Mass Effect is, tho, on the grounds of "only on PC and 360," leaving my PS3 out and my laptop in tears just thinking about it.

very simple choice, if you like shooters, pick bioshock. if you like rpgs, pick mass effect. or just wait for onlive in 3 months and u can play both and their sequels on any pc

I've never played Mass Effect, so I really can't say. On the other hand, I love Bioshock, and it's definitely one of my favourite games for this generation - considering how cheap it is by now, I'd get Bioshock anyway; you should at least try it out.

No, he's asking what to buy and what people recommend, that's not a vs thread. Seriously if people fight over what someone else should buy they might need to take a serious look at their life and wonder why they care.
