BioWare Pits Blonde Against Brunette in New FemShep Poll

I would've voted for the redhead, but now I want to support the blonde Shepard in the face of all the misogynistic cunts (and cuntettes) coming out and saying an attractive blonde woman is instantly an incapable, personality-free bimbo.

It shouldn't be any skin off my nose either way, since I'll just be the same Nova Shepard from the first two games, but this whole escapade has opened the door for some seriously pathetic sexist bullshit. The way BioWare has gone about it has of course been condusive to that, but at the end of the day they're not the ones spouting fucking blonde jokes.

It's also weird that people seem to sexualise fem!Shep...this doesn't annoy me so much as puzzle me. She's got to be one of the least sexualised female characters out there. Sure, her armour is kind of...form fitting, but no more so than dude!Shep's.

Prefer brunette but i don't care for the facial design & makeup on any of them.

And the great thing about the series is that you are completely free to create an appearance you prefer. I'm having a difficult time comprehending why some people feel that having this new default appearance in any way prevents them from using the character creator to construct their own FemShep.

Because the default is the face of the character known as fem-shep. It is what goes to marketing, gets affixed to the cover, and is the start face for creation. No one that loves the series wants to see Femshep turned into a bimbo/blonde angsty chick/sum of all our hatreds as far as market cannon goes.

Yeah, and the handsome Default MaleShep has been in the marketing for the past five years. Also, I don't think any of those options make FemShep look like a bimbo. At all.

Cool your bitterness. The red-headed femshep above is pretty close to the default femshep from ME1 and ME2

And she's currently in the lead by a comfortable margin.

According to the figures Bioware put out a while back, about 80% of people use a custom face.

That's for both male and female Shepard.

RedShep is very attractive indeed! However, the light-brown one looks better and more realistic IMO. That said, my custom FemShep is in fact a redhead with green eyes.

i had the same issue with the winning FemShep in the last poll as most people did. the blonde hair just doesnt work with Shepard. i like the hairstyle but not the color.

On a grand scale, one could hope this fumbling helps to set some people on a path of finally coming to question their acceptance of the overall shallowness of the industry.

I feel that this is a little extreme. I don't understand what you think a solution to this conundrum could be. Would you prefer that Shepard was unattractive, solely because it would pander less to people's instinctive preference for symmetrical facial structure? Should I be offended that the industry assumes that people prefer their fictional characters to be attractive and insist that femshep have acne scars and buck teeth?

If you're going to use a game to fuel such an argument, there are much, much better candidates out there.
