Black Ops 2 or Halo 4?

Niether TBH. There are other far better games to be getting, and from the looks of the two of them neither really seem that interesting.

If I had to pick one, I'd grab Halo IV though. CoD... Its CoD, I find it more of a grind than most RPGs when going through the campaign, and multiplayer is... bleh. Halo I've at least enjoyed some parts of the previous campaigns, so it has a chance in that department, even if I'm not going to touch its online either. Sadly, it would mean I'd have to install Windows 8 to run the Xbox game [As I recall this being the one redeeming feature of 8, someone correct me if I've misinterpreted/read something somewhere], so it'll probably only go on my old and crappy laptop that I'll use for 8.

OP must be horrified with the results, but I'm not sure what he expected.
Like someone said earlier, if you want CoD, go play CoD 4. The new ones are trash.
Halo 4 no longer looks like an arena shooter, but a military shooter, which is not why I liked Halo.
So neither.

Halo 4 is a bastardization to the original trilogy to me so I wouldn't go get it. It lost all the cool feels one gets in the first trilogy, especially the first game, which was a pure gem. Reach wasn't very satisfying already, and now Bungie is gone too. And BLOPS just holds no appeal to me.

aside from MOH Warfighter that is
Definately interested in that, the original had an excellent story imo, with a lot of challenge from that T1 mode and really fun (if a touch brutal) multiplayer.

Personally it's MoH, Borderlands 2 and just about fuck all else shooter-wise for me this shooter fest. Other games I want include pokemon black or white 2. That is all.

neither, I didn't like COD Black Ops and Halo 3 felt to short.
But if I where to be forced to choose, Halo4 at-least the co-op was fun to play through with a friend.

Neither. Only Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite are on my wishlist.

But if I have to choose: Halo. I think the series is ok, while I never enjoyed any of the CoD games.

For me its neither, although I am interested in seeing how well they perform compared to their predecessors in terms of units sold.

Halo 4 due to 343 handling it instead of Bungie.

Black Ops 2 whether people are getting COD fatigue or not.

I'm interested in both, actually. I really have no idea which one i'd get first. On one hand, CoD has been re-releasing CoD4 (which was excellent) for years now, and here we finally have some innovation in it's formula that I would love to see be done, and supporting that innovation with my money sounds like a good deal to me.

On the other hand, I have every major release in the Halo franchise (Halo 1, 2, 3, and Reach) in my collection, and it'd be sad to leave out 4 for me. Plus, i actually really like what im seeing from it. It almost has a bit more of a Crysis look in my eyes, and that seems great to me. So i'm pretty interested to see what 343 Studios can do with the franchise.

So im not sure, i guess i'll just wait for the reviews to get out, and make up my decision when I know more about them on release.

Halo over CoD for plot.

I don't care for the Call of Duty formula, either singleplayer or multiplayer. While I'm not terribly enamoured with the Halo franchise anymore either, it has a story I wouldn't mind following. Hopefully the gameplay is up to par.

Almost every response in this thread is absolutely wrong and disappointing. The typical response is, "Neither, I played a call of duty game and didn't like it, and since I have never played a Halo game and it is a shooter it must be bad! Go buy X game!"

He asked one fucking question of which one to buy and you guys had to be the most immature I've ever seen since the Aurora Massacre thread.

Go buy Halo 4 first, it will have the most change amongst the two games and it'll still be relatively fun.

Edit: Never mind. Your edit gave more clarity.

If I had to pick one of those two, I'd go with Black Ops 2 since it actually seems to be doing something different. That and I don't even own an Xbox 360.

If I had to choose, I would probably get Halo 4. Reach was an alright game, and i'm a long-time fan for the Halo series. However, BLOPS 2 Is looking very interesting. It's about damn time a CoD game skipped into the the future!

I'm curious to see how 343 handles Halo so Halo 4 for me. I enjoyed Black Ops, certainly the COD I played the most but I don't know.. CODs never feel different to me so i'll probably wait until it's cheaper (never) and give it a try.

Hopefully Halo brings back the spark this time cause if it's anything like Reach i'm done with that series.

If you get Halo 4 you'll get cool points from me, besides if you want to play a a CoD game you may as well play one earlier in the series as they are all essentially the same
...And we already have our stupid comment relating to the CoD series. Well done.
How so? the campaigns are generally the same -
"Oh look Russia has invaded the US for some reason without any build up, we must defend from the inevitable nucular strike, and kill 1000's upon 1000's of generic soldiers to ultimately kill stereotypical Russian leader #34 to win" not to mention the scripting which makes the game little more than an interactive movie. As for multiplayer, its just the same run and gun mindless shooting that has been around in the last few games, only with a few more imaginative, broken and OP guns and killstreaks this time round to piss off the community

if i played FPS

Halo, gotta be Halo, i've looked into the lore enough to know I'd probably like it if they'd repackage it as something not an FPS.

CoD is just, as Yathzee put it 'a gun wank' game
