Name ONE series where the gameplay has been substantially changed with each new installment aside from new weapons and enemies.T8B95 said:...this is just another Call of Duty game. You do realize that facial expressions operate mostly on minuscule muscle motion with very slight shifts in terms of position and relative positioning. There are 10 muscles alone at mouth area, 8 for eye movement, and that's not counting the muscles responsible for chewing, eyelid etc. To emulate them all effectively you would need a lot of processing power just for those animations.Scrumpmonkey said:The facial animations still look a little wooden and off, it seems odd that so many years later newer games seem almost totally unable to exceed what is done in the source engine. Personally im not a fan of CoD, in my book the 'modern' games might as well be on rails.
Assassin's Creed, The Elder Scrolls, Splinter Cell...good game series in other terms.IBlackKiteI said:Name ONE series where the gameplay has been substantially changed with each new installment aside from new weapons and enemies.T8B95 said:...this is just another Call of Duty game. Customization to a level never before seen in COD? New attachments? New guns? New credit system? New game modes..? I am pretty sure they're adding things new before in a COD game.T8B95 said:Assassin's Creed, The Elder Scrolls, Splinter Cell...good game series in other terms.IBlackKiteI said:Name ONE series where the gameplay has been substantially changed with each new installment aside from new weapons and enemies.T8B95 said:...this is just another Call of Duty game. My point is that until the fourth installment, each of the Call of Dutys made major changes not only to the CoD formula, but to the FPS formula instead. Even the Halo games have made gameplay additions in each game, but Call of Duty is starting to stagnate. At least Modern Warfare 2 added a shitload of attachments and weapons. Black Ops isn't adding anything and if I hand over $70 for a game I expect some fucking quality. No need to get touchy on me, fanboy.
No. By retread, they obviously mean that the game will not cover any new ground. It will retread, so to speak, the same grounds that the previous game was based on. And I agree. But each to his own. I like story, originality, atmosphere, and strong characterisation. I'll just look elsewhere.omega 616 said:Always one, isn't there? Black Ops will be awesome. Mark my digital imprinted words.
Mark my digital imprinted words, Black Ops will just be an overpriced, over-hyped, Modern Warfare retread.
Who knows, black ops may restore the COD name to it's former self.
I assume by retread you mean retard, so ... much ... irony!
They are adding that theater mode, bots, and the custom stuff/currency. I dunno how much of it counts as gameplay enhancements, but there is some new stuff.T8B95 said:Assassin's Creed, The Elder Scrolls, Splinter Cell...good game series in other terms.IBlackKiteI said:Name ONE series where the gameplay has been substantially changed with each new installment aside from new weapons and enemies.T8B95 said:...this is just another Call of Duty game. Also bots! Finally bots after so much time. Quake and Counter Strike had bots more than 10 years ago. It's good for practicing maps and just relaxing and not worrying about freaks on MP. I don't get it why it took them so long to implement bots.Korten12 said:Customization to a level never before seen in COD? New attachments? New guns? New credit system? New game modes..? The obligatory contrary, expletive filled hate post arrived later than usual this time.T8B95 said:[

CoD2 was definitely the series highlight, if you excuse the German army having an abnormal amount of Tigers, or at least a scary predilection for deploying them against you, specifically.Woodsey said:"The facial animations and mo-cap are possibly the best I've ever seen in a game,"
You need to play MOAR games.
OT: Hasn't been my thing since Call of Duty 2. Looks alright.
I'm surprised at the amount of people actually interested in this; one minute you're all "CoD is killing the industry!" and then you all buy the bloody thing.
It can't be entirely different people in each group.
My point is that the actual gameplay is staying the same. That they're adding extra features is nice, but just because they offer to add strawberries to my ice cream doesn't make the actual ice cream any better. The gameplay isn't changing, they're just re-skinning the guns snd changing the names, and the attachments are all competing for the most unnecessary feature award...which in a CoD game is hard to achieve.Korten12 said:Customization to a level never before seen in COD? "Expletive filled" implies he swore more than once. Also, he's bordering on a fair point; the game's are yearly updates, which a great many people only buy because everyone else is buying it. Sports games often pull the same trick.MiracleOfSound said:The obligatory contrary, expletive filled hate post arrived later than usual this time.T8B95 said:[

Wasn't MW2 £50?(!!)Serenegoose said:CoD2 was definitely the series highlight, if you excuse the German army having an abnormal amount of Tigers, or at least a scary predilection for deploying them against you, specifically.Woodsey said:"The facial animations and mo-cap are possibly the best I've ever seen in a game,"

OT: I was out when the guy said 'about 9 hours' of plot. Given this thing is likely to be £39:99 til the heat-death of the universe and I'd say 12 hours is a reasonable minimum... for £30, and even then I'd wait til it came down a bit. Anything else is just no. And no, neither me nor my partner, the person I'd likely get it for, is sufficiently interested in the multiplayer to do anything other than utterly ignore it. We got into the series for its great single player, and now that it's gone, so are we.
Why fix what isn't broken, I mean seriously what could they do to change it?T8B95 said:My point is that the actual gameplay is staying the same. And before people jump down my throat, the helicopter and underwater bits just look like twenty second features that are going to be over before I can call them fun. They aren't really gameplay additions because they have nothing to do with the real gameplay.
