Cobra Commander.... yes you want to take over the world with the most elaborate and over the top scheme possible, yet he leaves flaws the size of his ego in his plans. It's a shame to because he's a leader of a highly organized terrorist group that has a snake theme... that just awesome.
TUNNEL SNAKEZ ROOL.

An army full of duplicates of Top Man from Mega Man 3?!

You fiend!
speaking of Megaman, what the HELL was Dr.Wiley's motive?
Classic "Assistant goes bad" storyline. Wiley was working under Dr. Light and saw the power that Light's robots were capable of and decided to use them to take over the world and get the fame that he felt denied of when he was working in Light's shadow. From there it just snowballed into revenge against the Blue Bomber and his creator.

Any villan that is reveal in a plot twist half way through the movie, so they don't have any time to be fleshed out because plots are for pansies

Galbatorix from Eragon.

"Why would he do such a thing?"

"Because he is evil."

Yay for one-dimensional characters!

I mean, come on! The guy's never seen, and everyone says he's evil incarnate. For all we know he isn't!

Let's look at his evil deeds:

1, Kill the Dragon Riders.
So? They were 'corrupt and fought amongst themselves.' All he did was join in on the fun, be the best there is, and win. Now he's the bad guy and mad to boot? Riiiight.

2, The Empire is evil and bad, and war rages.
The war the REBELS STARTED. Without them, Galby could go and manage his Empire without distractions.

3, He killed dragons and enslaved them!
Comes with killing the dragon-riders. Why let that power go to waist when you can do some good with it after you slew them in a fit of madness. Seems pretty good to me, as would any normal human being.
Don't mean to nerd out on you here but he killed the riders because they wouldn't join them.

It had something to do with Ravens Dad.

But yeah. They ended it with the wrong villain.

I'm still wondering WHY Jack of Blades wanted to do all that shit in Fable 1. I mean, fuck, he wants to ruin the world? WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF DOING THAT?!

But wait, all he wants is the blade of aeons, which will give him tremendous power, does that really mean he's evil?.. It's not like he'll ruin the world by doing that..

OH MAN!
I think his family got killed by Will or something. I read it on the Fable website. Like Will (The guy who made w- Ok, the Fable backstory is a piece of crap)

The villains from Captain Planet. Was polluting just for the sake of polluting seriously what was driving these guys? I mean, it's the equivalent of throwing your garbage into the backyard instead of into a garbage can; there's nothing to be gained from it, and more often than not, it's going to make your own life a whole lot worse.
I know there were some more realistic villains in the show who's main motivation seemed to be good old fashioned corporate greed, but most of the time, it was just "I'M DUMPING OIL ON THIS BEACH BECAUSE CLEANING UP THE ENVIROMENT IS DUMB!"

Medical Mechanica (MM) from FLCL. It didn't even explain who the hell Haruko and Atmosk were to a fufilling extent! And then they throw in some random ass building and call it evil!?

Bowser, from all Mario games. When Bowser isn't the villain, the villains have a reason to steal peach, but this fat dolt stole her for what!?

Arlong from One Piece. I understand he wanted to take over a town, but why a little tiny poor one with no exports!? It's not like he couldn't take over something bigger, so why didn't he!?

Rokudo Mukuro of Hitman Reborn! The mafia betrayed him as a child, but why in the hell did he go after Vongola!?

That's all i got.

Ultimecia from Final Fantasy 8.

"I shall compress Time and destroy all life, for no good reason at all! MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!"
I was just thinking that, what would she accomplish by creating a universe where only she exists. She wouldn't even have anybody to rule over or kill anymore. I still love that game though.

Going in the opposite direction, I love how the main villain in inFAMOUS actually has a good reason for what he is doing, that I never saw coming. Still though, the way he accomplishes it is kind of cliche.

The villain in the 'Alone in the Dark' movie.

All I could think about when I watched him was:
"WTF? Is this guy supposed to be the villain or something? What's his motivation, in fact what are his methods?"
Seriously that whole movie was a tangled web of plot muckup.

Sovereign from Mass Effect. When asked why he's doing it, he responds that his motives are too complex for puny Commander Shepard to comprehend. Kind of redeemed with Saren, however.
Yeah, Sovereign struck me as a guy who was just in it "For the Evulz."

Saren at least had a good reason for what he was doing.
Even if he was an ass.
Yeah. I get the feeling that The Reapers' motives will be more fleshed out in the sequels though.
I hope so too; though I find the mystery of the Reapers' intentions intriguing. Doing it for resources or just for fun is far too...well, "organic" for them to consider. Whatever their motives, I hope it's truly a shocking revelation.

I also wonder how they're going to tie in with the rest of Mass Effect 2's plot, which, so far, comes across as a detour. An awesome detour, but a detour nonetheless.

Not just pollution either. I remember one episode where the rat guy tried to scare people about AIDS so that he could (and I'm quoting here) "....get it spread and then WE'LL take over!!"

That's not even talking about that batshit insane episode where Dr. Blight (the blonde chick with the talking computer) traveled back in time to give a nuke to Hitler. Yes, she tried to sell a nuke to Adolf Fucking Hitler. Why? Because apparently she wanted nazi gold. I'm STILL trying to wrap my brain around that plan.

This. Kefka was fleshed out more than you may think. He was just a sociopath that wanted to ruin the world. Ultimecia LITERALLY came from right field and became the final boss. STUPID.
While we're on the subject of the Final Fantasy games, who exactly was Necron supposed to be, anyway? Doesn't he turn up literally to be the last boss of FF9, and that's all?
I read from somewhere that this is from the overall theme of the game: overcoming immense adversity. The game pretty much sets up the fact that Kuja will be the last boss, but when you beat him, he sends out an Ultima that wipes you out. You wake up in some sort of dimension, and your party, looking for something else to kill, decided to take on the concept of death, and wins.

I bet ME2 will be about Cerberus and The Collectors.

Such weird stuff.

I remember that time travel episode. Didn't the Blight from the past end up betraying the Blight from the future or something like that? As little sense as it makes to sell a nuke to Hitler, it makes even less sense to doublecross your future self, thus ensuring that eventually, you're going to get scammed out of your riches.

Slade is another name For Deathstroke the Terminator. Hes a pretty badass criminal/mercenary that LOVES screwing with robin/nightwing.

He NUKES the town nightwing defends(Bludhaven) just so Nightwing doesn't have a home to return to.
